Furthermore, the overlap of the inner and outer stud sections 15, 16 and the reinforcing member 33 forms a laminate structure which is inherently very strong and has a low deflection along its length.
- the inner stud section 15 is longer than the outer stud section 16 to maximise the length of the reinforcing member received in the inner stud section, although it will be appreciated that the relative lengths of the stud sections 15, 16 are not limited thereto.

- the guide track 8 is fixedly mounted to the lower face 9 of the upper support member 4 so that it is disposed above and parallel to the lower support frame elements 10, 11.
- the support columns 6a-6d are initially in a retracted condition, with the outer stud section 16 fully overlapping the inner stud section 15. It will be appreciated that the reinforcing member 33 is received in the inner stud section 15. Alternatively, it will be appreciated that the components of the support column 6a-6d may be transported separated and assembled on site. An advantage of the support columns is that the space required to transport the support columns is minimised. Furthermore, it will be appreciated that the inner and outer stud sections 15, 16 oppose each other and so the rigidity of the support column is enhanced.
- One of the support columns 6a is positioned against a first lower support frame element 10 with the base wall 25 of the inner stud section 15 being located against one of the upstanding flange portions 13 and being fixedly attached thereto by a known fixing means, such as a locking bolt (not shown) extending through the base wall 25 and flange portion 13.

- An upper end of the outer stud section 16 is positioned against the upper support frame member 4 and the base wall 18 of the outer stud section 16 is fixedly attached thereto by a known fixing means, such as a locking bolt (not shown) extending through the base wall 25 and into the upper support frame member 4.
- the support column 6a is therefore fixedly mounted between the upper support frame member 4 and the lower support frame member 5. In particular, it will be appreciated that no cutting of the components is required to position and mount the support column 6a in the correct position.
- the reinforcing member 33 is disposed in the inner stud section 15. An advantage of the support column 6a described above is that it has a high rigidity. Furthermore, the laminate arrangement of the inner and outer stud sections 15, 16 and the reinforcing member 33, together with the rigidity provided by the reinforcing member 33 itself provide an increased stiffness and strength, and buckling and twisting of the support column 6a is restricted.
- the reinforcing member 33 is fixedly mounted to both the inner stud section 15 and the outer stud section 16 by fixing elements, such as bolts, which extend through the inner stud section 15 and the outer stud section 16 to further strengthen and reinforce the support column 6a.
- Another support column 6b is then mounted between the first lower support frame element 10 and the upper support frame member 4 in the same manner as described above, with the base wall 25 of the inner stud section 15 of this support column 6b being located against the other upstanding flange portion 13 of the first lower support frame element 10, and the base wall 18 of the outer stud section 16 being mounted on an opposing side of the upper support frame member 4 to the corresponding support column 6a. Therefore, the two support columns 6a, 6b mounted to the first lower support frame element 10 extend parallel, but spaced from each other.
- two more support columns 6c, 6d are mounted between the second lower support frame element 11 and the upper support frame member 4 in that same manner as the first two support columns 6a, 6b so that they are securely mounted.
- the distance between the first and second lower support frame elements 10, 11, and therefore the spacing between the pairs of support columns 6a-6d is determined by the desired dimensions of the support frame for a sliding door 3.
- the distance between each pair of support columns 6a, 6d may be increased if a larger recess for receiving a sliding door is required, or reduced if a smaller recess is required.
- a wall board 7 is positioned against and fixedly mounted to the two support columns 6a, 6c on one side, and another wall board 7 is positioned against and fixedly mounted to the support columns 6b, 6c on the opposing side. Therefore, a door receiving space is defined between the wall boards 7 by the support frame for a sliding door, and the wall boards 7 mounted to the support frame for a sliding door form a rigid partition wall.
- the slide mechanism (not shown) is mounted at an upper end to the door 3 by known means, and is mounted to the guide rail 8 by known means such that the door is slidable along the guide track 8 between an open position, in which the door is received in the door receiving space defined between the support columns, and an open position, in which the door extends from the door receiving space to enclose an opening in a wall.

Claims (13)
- Cadre de support (2) destiné à recevoir une porte coulissante (3), comprenant des éléments de cadre de support supérieur et inférieur (4, 5) et une colonne de support (6a, 6b, 6c, 6d) qui peut se fixer aux éléments de cadre de support supérieur et inférieur de façon à s'étendre entre lesdits éléments de cadre de support supérieur et inférieur, dans lequel la colonne de support comprend des parties de montant intérieure et extérieure (15, 16) qui se recouvrent et coulissent l'une par rapport à l'autre de telle façon que la distance entre les éléments de cadre de support supérieur et inférieur peut être modifiée pendant l'installation du cadre de support en faisant coulisser les deux parties de montant l'une par rapport à l'autre, et caractérisé en ce que la colonne de support (6a, 6b, 6c, 6d) comprend un élément de renfort (33) logé dans la partie de montant intérieure (15).
- Cadre de support (2) selon la revendication 1, dans lequel la partie de montant intérieure (15) définit un conduit intérieur (24) et l'élément de renfort (33) est logé dans le conduit intérieur.
- Cadre de support (2) selon la revendication 2, dans lequel la partie de montant intérieure (15) possède une lèvre (27) qui s'étend le long du conduit intérieur (24) et qui est configurée de façon à retenir l'élément de renfort (33) dans le conduit intérieur (24).
- Cadre de support (2) selon la revendication 3, dans lequel l'élément de renfort (33) est formé à partir d'un panneau de fibres à densité moyenne.
- Cadre de support (2) selon l'une quelconque des revendications précédentes, dans lequel la partie de montant intérieure (15) est logée de manière à pouvoir coulisser dans un conduit extérieur (17) formé dans la partie de montant extérieure (16).
- Cadre de support (2) selon la revendication 5, dans lequel la partie de montant extérieure (16) comprend en outre une languette de rappel (20) qui s'étend le long du conduit extérieur (17) et qui est configurée de façon à retenir la partie de montant intérieure (15) dans le conduit extérieure formé dans la partie de montant extérieure (16).
- Cadre de support (2) selon l'une quelconque des revendications précédentes, dans lequel la longueur de la partie de montant intérieure (15) est supérieure à celle de la partie de montant extérieure (16).
- Cadre de support (2) selon l'une quelconque des revendications précédentes, dans lequel la partie de montant intérieure (15) peut se monter de manière fixe sur l'élément de cadre de support inférieur (5) et la partie de montant extérieure (16) peut se monter de manière fixe sur l'élément de cadre de support supérieur (4).
- Cadre de support (2) selon l'une quelconque des revendications précédentes, comprenant en outre une pluralité de colonnes de support (6a, 6b, 6c, 6d) qui peuvent se fixer aux éléments de cadre de support supérieur et inférieur (4, 5) et qui sont configurées de façon à s'étendre entre lesdits éléments de cadre de support supérieur et inférieur.
- Cadre de support (2) selon la revendication 9, dans lequel la pluralité de colonnes de support (6a, 6b, 6c, 6d) est configurée de telle façon que lesdites colonnes sont espacées les unes des autres.
- Cadre de support (2) selon la revendication 9 ou la revendication 10, dans lequel l'élément de cadre de support inférieur (5) comprend une pluralité d'éléments de cadre de support inférieurs (10, 11).
- Cadre de support (2) selon la revendication 11, dans lequel deux colonnes de support (6a, 6b, 6c, 6d) peuvent se monter sur chaque élément de cadre de support inférieur (10, 11).
- Procédé d'assemblage d'un cadre de support (2) tel que défini dans la revendication 1, destiné à recevoir une porte coulissante (3), le procédé comprenant les étapes consistant à monter les éléments de cadre de support supérieur et inférieur selon un agencement espacé, monter de manière fixe une extrémité de l'une des parties de montant sur l'un des éléments de cadre de support, faire coulisser l'autre partie de montant le long de la première partie de montant de telle façon qu'une extrémité de l'autre partie de montant se trouve adjacente à l'autre élément de cadre de support, et monter de manière fixe l'extrémité de l'autre partie de montant sur ledit autre élément de cadre de support.
