  • the current architectural trend in windows requires large glazing dimensions as well as high thermal and acoustic performance. In order to meet these requirements, glazings are becoming larger and heavier. Thus this trend has the effect of increasing the maneuvering forces when opening and closing the window.
  • One of the additional difficulties lies in guiding large panels that frequently have a natural curvature from the manufacturing process.
  • Some known embodiments, and in particular those mentioned above comprise members provided with guide rods associated with the movable panels and sliding in grooves or grooves of the frame. For large glazing, these devices are deficient because they do not allow to correct the natural curvatures of the glass.

  • the guides 10 are prefabricated assemblies designed in order to increase the quality of operation of the glazed panels 1 in the frame 2.
  • the guides 10 are shown in FIGS. figs 1 to 5 , the Fig. 5 representing an execution variant.
  • Each guide comprises a stud 12 of rectangular shape provided according to the figs 1 to 4 four cylindrical housings 13, flat bottom, aligned in pairs transversely (see figs 3 and 4 ).
  • a cylindrical slide 14 with an abutment projection 14a which is driven into one of the flanks of a support member 15 in U, flat bottom, freely engaged between the flanks of the profile 11 and on the benches 8 and 9.
  • Elements of coil springs 16 are placed in a slightly tensioned position between the bottoms of the housings 13 and the sliders 14, so that the studs 12, while being able to move laterally in the support member 15, are maintained in positions symmetrical with respect to the profile 11.
  • Each guide 10 is also secured to the profile 11 by a transverse pin 17 whose length is adjusted accurately to engage without play between two longitudinal internal ribs 18 and 19 that the profiles 5 and 6 present.
  • each of the studs 12 carries in its center a vertical rod 20 equipped at its upper end with a ball bearing 21.
  • the rod 20 of the guides 10 passes through the cover profile 11. It has the ball bearing 21 in a longitudinal groove 22 defined in the reinforcing member 4 of the glazed panel 1 between the edges 4d and 4e of this body.
  • the U-shaped inverted cover profile 11 not only serves to position the guides 10 but also covers sliding supports which will be arranged between the guides 10 distributed along the lower horizontal side of the fixed frame 2.
  • Such supports are described in particular in an earlier European deposit no 08101885.5 the same depositor. They each comprise a roller block supported elastically on a fixed base plate and provided with free rollers such as rollers 23 ( Figs. 2 and 6 ). These can roll against support strips 24 arranged longitudinally in shallow grooves 25 formed in the lower elements of the sections 4a, 4b of the movable panels 1 in frame 2. It is noted that, according to the Fig.
  • the support strips 24 and the profile of the grooves 25 are arranged in the same plane, whereas, depending on the execution of the Figs. 1 and 6 the same bands and the same grooves are arranged obliquely.
  • the guides described have demonstrated their practical effectiveness in that the hand movement of even very heavy and complex glass panels is effortless.
  • the figs 3, 4 and 5 concretize the realization of the described guides.
