Definitions

  • the invention relates to a closure clip (hereinafter also referred to as a clip) for closing tube-like or bag-like, gathered packaging material with two legs spanning a clip level and connected by a connecting section.
  • a closure clip hereinafter also referred to as a clip
  • Such essentially U-shaped locking clips are well known.
  • they are typically lined up in large numbers in parallel with a parallel staple plane to form a rod and are fixed to one another on the outside of the connecting section facing away from the packaging material by means of an adhesive or sealing strip, so that the clip rod is stabilized.
  • To close the packaging material such a clip bar is transported perpendicular to the guideway of a movable stamp of a closing device and inserted with its front end into the guideway.
  • the driven punch separates the foremost clip from the following clips of the clip bar and transports it along its guideway until the legs of the clip grip the packaging material in the area gathered into a braid.
  • the legs of the clip are pressed against a die with a guideway bent over in such a way that the clip encircles the packaging material in a closed ring, the legs being slightly turned out of the plane of the clamp in the closed state and coming to lie parallel to one another.
  • the material strands or wires used to manufacture such closure clips - it is preferably metal wires and particularly preferably aluminum wires - are known to have different cross-sectional profiles.
  • a locking clip is known, the cross-sectional profile of which - starting from a round profile - is oval in shape to improve the weight-to-bending resistance ratio, the height of the cross-sectional profile, that is to say the profile expansion in the clip plane, determined by the large axis of the oval and thus larger than its width, i.e. the profile extension perpendicular to the plane of the bracket.
  • a clip requires less material than a closing clip with a round cross section with the same stability or, in other words, has a higher section modulus with the same material requirement.
  • This cross-sectional profile is also based on the endeavor to increase the bending stiffness while using as little material as possible.
  • there are other requirements influencing the clip profile such as the guidance of the closing clip in the guideway and the die, a non-slip inner surface or an inner surface with rounded edges to avoid injuries to the packaging envelope to be closed.
  • the effort to save material with the same section modulus also becomes apparent in that the tapering of the cross-sectional profile of the locking clip disclosed there takes place from the larger inside to the smaller outside width via side fluted depressions.
  • the projection has a convex radius and the recess has a concave radius of the same size. In this way, the form fit can be improved.
  • the height of the cross-sectional profile is greater than its width (profile extension perpendicular to the bracket plane).
  • the section modulus increases so that with a corresponding height-to-width ratio, a desired section modulus, which is decisive for the locking force, is achieved using as little material as possible.
  • the cross-sectional profile particularly preferably has a height that is 1/3 to 1/2 larger than the width.
  • 1 A is a front view of an open locking clip
  • FIG. 1B shows a side view of the open closure clip according to FIG. 1A;
  • FIG. 3A shows a front view of a second embodiment of the closed closure clip according to the invention.
  • FIG. 3B shows a section through the closed closure clip according to the embodiment from FIG. 3A;
  • FIG. 4B shows a section through the closed closure clip according to the embodiment from FIG. 4A.
  • the legs 110, 112 each have a bevel 116 or 118 on their outer side 120, which serves to control the deflection of the legs when the clip is closed in the die and to allow this to take place with as little friction as possible.
  • the two legs define a bracket plane, which is shown as a dash-dotted line 122 in FIG. 1B.
  • the width of the clip is determined by two spaced side surfaces 24 and 126 which are parallel to the plane of the clip.
  • 2A shows a first exemplary embodiment of the clip 200 according to the invention in the closed shape encompassing the gathered portion of a packaging material (not shown).
  • the two legs 210 and 212 are here parallel and at the same height next to each other (one behind the other in this illustration).
  • the peculiarity of the clip according to the invention can be seen for the first time in the sectional illustration of this exemplary embodiment shown in FIG. 2B.
  • the section shows that the cross-sectional profile 230 (shown hatched) of the material strand forming the clip has lateral profile edges, that is to say formed by the side surfaces 224, 226, each of which has a first projection 232 or 234 and a second projection 242 or 244, between each of which a recess 252 or 254 is included.
  • the cross-sectional profile of this preferred embodiment is (in the undeformed shape) mirror-symmetrical to the clamp plane 222.
  • a mirror-symmetrical profile has the advantage that when bending the legs there are no bending or tilting moments pointing out of the plane of the clamp, which can lead to problems when closing the clip. Furthermore, the orientation of the clip or the clip rod is not important when magazining the closure device.
  • the projections 232, 234 and 242, 244 and recesses 252, 254 are opposite to the two sides of the profile.
  • a form fit does not occur if the clip, as can be seen in FIGS. 2A and 2B, is bent over during closing in such a way that the legs 210, 212 are arranged in parallel next to one another at the same height.
  • the locking force of the clip according to the invention is determined solely on the basis of its bending stiffness or section modulus. In this regard, however, the cross-sectional profile shown in FIG. 2B is optimized.
  • the height of the cross-sectional profile is advantageously greater than its width, since the section modulus increases quadratically with increasing height of the profile.
  • the particularly preferred height-to-width ratio of 1 1/3: 1 to 1.5: 1 an optimal ratio of section modulus and material use is achieved.
  • this basically rectangular cross-sectional geometry and the aspect ratio mentioned there is approximately twice as much locking force on the braid as with a round cross-section of the same size.
  • section modulus and material use is further improved by the side cutouts.

  • the width of the projections 232, 234, 242, 244 (extension of the projections parallel to the plane of the clamp) is smaller than the width of the recesses 252, 254. Therefore, they are suitable for engaging in one another when the clamp 200 is closed and to ensure a positive fit.
  • the clip must be bent over in a die when it is closed in such a way that the legs 310, 312 are parallel to one another but offset in height from one another.

  • the cutouts 352, 354 have a dual function, namely saving material on the one hand and positive locking on the other.
  • the clip takes on a more space-saving shape, since the width of the closed clip is reduced by the depth of the recesses (extension of the recesses in the direction perpendicular to the plane of the clamp) compared to the sum of both leg widths.
  • the width of the projections and recesses ie their extension parallel to the plane of the clamp, is identical. More specifically, the projections have a convex radius and the recesses have a concave radius of the same size.
  • both lateral profile edges each have first projections 232, 234, 332, 334 and second projections 242, 244, 342, 344, between which the recesses 252, 254, 352 , 354 are included.

  • the width of the clips is greatest in the area of the inner surface (inner width) and outer surface (outer width).
  • this "double-T profile” has the further advantage of lower susceptibility to malfunction: All corners on the profile are rounded to prevent damage to the packaging material.

  • Such “sharp” transition edges prove to be advantageous in that, in cooperation with the stamp driven along its guideway, they form the adhesive or sealing strip which forms the clips in the form of a Fixed rod, shear off when separating the foremost clip and thus separate reliably.

  • FIGS. 4A and 4B show a further embodiment of the clip 400 according to the invention, which has a cross-sectional profile that is not mirror-symmetrical to the clamp plane 422 but point-symmetrical to the center 423 of the profile.
  • a clip with this profile can be closed in such a way that the legs 410, 412 lie parallel next to one another without a height offset, a positive fit nevertheless being achieved because the projection 432 of one side profile edge is opposite the recess 454 in the other side profile edge and vice versa.
  • the advantage is that at This form of positive locking and thus an increased locking force and a space-saving shape can be achieved, while both legs are in contact with the gathered packaging material (not shown) in the closed state, which at the same time provides an even more secure sealing of the packaging and adhesion to the braid ,
  • the projections and recesses are provided with the same radii, so that the positive locking is ensured even with axially twisted legs.
