Definitions

  • the invention relates to a motor vehicle door lock, with received in a housing locking mechanism, and with a reinforcing element for the locking mechanism.
  • the locking mechanism is usually composed of a rotary latch and a pawl and cooperates with a locking pin, as is well known and is described for example in the generic state of the art according to DE 199 34 877 A1.
  • a reinforcing element in the form of a quasi-closed housing for receiving the locking realized.
  • reinforcement elements from practice in the form of reinforcing plates, which are connected to the housing by riveting.
  • case may be a lock case or a lock plate, which is made of metal and in which the locking mechanism is stored.
  • the reinforcing element is now riveted to the relevant lock case or lock plate - as described. This is expensive to manufacture.
  • the locking mechanism is exposed to increased forces, in particular in the event of a side impact, for example if an outer door panel is pressed against the housing and possibly causes deformations here. In extreme cases, this can lead to blockage of the locking mechanism. so that an associated motor vehicle door is no longer open.
  • the known embodiments allow for improvements in crash safety.
  • the invention is based on the technical problem of further developing a motor vehicle door lock of the design described at the beginning in such a way that at the same time the crash safety is improved in a simple and cost-effective production, in particular in the case of a side impact.
  • a generic motor vehicle door lock according to the invention is characterized in that the reinforcing element has a lateral projection with respect to the housing, which extends substantially in the opposite direction compared to a possible impact direction.
  • the projection extends substantially in the opposite direction compared to a possible side impact direction. This is regularly the vehicle transverse direction or Y-direction. In principle, however, the described motor vehicle door lock can also be used in a tailgate. Then one will arrange the supernatant so that it is arranged in the opposite direction compared to a possible rear impact direction. Consequently, the projection will then extend substantially in the X direction, ie in the vehicle longitudinal direction.
  • the supernatant ensures that deformations of the respective motor vehicle door (driver's door, front passenger's door, side door or tailgate) or door outer panel caused by an impact are not introduced directly into the housing or lock case. Because the fact that the reinforcing element has the relevant supernatant with respect to the housing, a deformed door outer panel first comes to rest against the relevant reinforcing element. Impact forces are thus introduced into the reinforcing element, which may deform. In this way, however, such deformations are kept away from the lock case or the housing, so that the storage of the locking mechanism is not or only slightly affected. The operation of the rotary latch and pawl is therefore still given, so that a motor vehicle door can still open even after a side or rear impact, which was previously often not possible.
  • the reinforcing element is a reinforcing plate which fixes the axes of the rotary latch and the pawl, the reinforcing element being arranged substantially coplanar with respect to a base plate of the housing or lock case.
  • reinforcing member and base plate are substantially parallel to each other.
  • the reinforcing element can be connected by latching or plug connection with the housing or lock case.
  • the housing or the lock case has about rising from the base plate axes on which the catch and the pawl are plugged and finally reach through holes in the reinforcing element.
  • the rotary latch and the pawl or their axes are fixed.
  • the reinforcing element usually has recesses for protruding from the housing mounting webs.
  • the fastening webs thus pass through the recesses, wherein in the region of the recesses arranged spring tongues engage in recesses of the fastening webs.
  • the spring tongues engage in the recesses of the fastening webs, so that the reinforcing element is held captive on the housing or the lock case.
  • the reinforcing element may be arcuate with a recess in the region of an inlet mouth and a protruding over the housing back. The supernatant is part of this back or coincides with it.
  • the reinforcing element has two mounting legs for the axes of the rotary latch and the pawl. The two mounting legs thus form on the one hand a rotary latch mounting leg and on the other hand a pawl mounting leg and have the already mentioned openings, which are penetrated by the upstanding on the base plate axes.
  • the reinforcing element may additionally have one or more further receptacles for at least one lever.
  • This lever is preferably the external operating lever, which is connected to an outside door handle and provides for external operations for opening the locking mechanism. Due to the mounting of the external actuating lever on the reinforcing element not only space in the interior of the housing or lock case is created, but at the same time increases the crash safety again. Because the external actuating lever is decoupled by its attachment to the reinforcing element as it were from the housing or lock case, so that its deformations can not affect the operation of the external operating lever in interaction with the locking mechanism.
  • the receptacle for the respective lever may be formed as a receiving bore, in which engages the lever with its optionally integrally formed axle.
  • a motor vehicle door lock is presented, which first of all ensures, by means of the projection realized on the reinforcing element, that deformations of the door outer panel associated with an impact are absorbed by this reinforcing element and that Housing or the lock case not or hardly affect its function. It is therefore still possible, even after such an impact to open the relevant motor vehicle door, and from the outside. In addition contributes to the fact that the external operating lever can be stored on the respective reinforcing element.
  • the reinforcing element can be inexpensively combined with the housing or lock case, because the invention relies insofar on a latching or plug connection or an adhesive connection.
  • the invention relies insofar on a latching or plug connection or an adhesive connection.
  • a motor vehicle door lock which has in its basic structure a housing, which is in the present case designed as a lock case 1 or includes such a lock case 1.
  • a lock case 1 On the basis of the side view of Fig. 3 it can be seen that the Lock case 1 in cross-section U-shaped with side walls 1b and 1c is designed.
  • a locking mechanism 2, 3 from catch 2 and pawl 3 is added.
  • bearing pins 4 are anchored in a base plate 1a of the lock case 1 and receive the catch 2 and pawl 3 respectively.
  • a reinforcing element 5 is realized, which is a reinforcing plate 5.
  • the reinforcing plate 5 and the base plate 1a of the lock case 1 are arranged substantially coplanar with each other, d. H. span mostly parallel planes. Between these two levels or the reinforcing plate 5 and the base plate 1a, the rotary latch 2 and the pawl 3 are held.
  • the reinforcing plate 5 is fixed by means of press-fits 6 on the housing or lock case 1. Details of the respective press fit 6 can be seen best from the enlarged detail in FIG. 2. Thereafter, the reinforcing plate 5 has recesses 7 through which fastening webs 8 extend. The fastening webs 8 are formed on the lock case 1 and protrude from its side wall 1b. Spring tongues 9 in the region of the recesses 7 engage in positioned reinforcing plate 5 in indicated recesses 10 of the fastening webs 8 a.
  • the respective rectangular recess 7 is equipped with a total of four spring tongues 9 on each side, which engages in the formed as a circumferential groove in the mounting web 8 recess 10.
  • this is not mandatory, and other detent or plug connections or even an adhesive connection of the lock case 1 with the reinforcing plate 5 are conceivable and are encompassed by the spirit of the invention. Consequently, a variety of form-locking or adhesive connections come into question.
  • the reinforcing element or the reinforcing plate 5 overall ensures that the axes 4 of the rotary latch 2 and the pawl 3 are perfectly fixed, namely between the relevant reinforcing plate 5 and the base plate 1 a of the lock case. 1
  • the reinforcing element or the reinforcing plate 5 has a lateral projection 11, which can be seen in particular in FIG.
  • This projection 11 projects laterally beyond the housing 1 or the lock case 1, specifically by the amount M, as the side view according to FIG. 3 makes immediately clear. It extends substantially in the opposite direction compared to a possible impact direction which is indicated by an arrow A in the figures.
  • the direction of impact A extends substantially in the Y or vehicle transverse direction, assuming a side impact.
  • a tailgate used so a rear impact must be taken into account, which is substantially congruent with the X or vehicle longitudinal direction.
  • the reinforcing element or the reinforcing plate 5 is designed substantially arcuate and has a recess 12 in the region of an inlet mouth 13 for a merely indicated and cooperating with the rotary latch 2 locking pin 14.
  • a back 15 is provided which substantially with the supernatant coincides.
  • two fastening legs 16 for the axles 4 of the rotary latch 2 of the pawl 3 complete the reinforcing element 5.
  • the reinforcing element or the reinforcing plate 5 additionally has a receptacle 17 in the form of a receiving bore 17 for a lever 18.
  • This lever 18 is the external actuating lever 18, which is actuated by a merely indicated outside door handle 19 with the interposition of a connecting member 20, for example a rod or a Bowden cable.
  • the axles 4 of the rotary latch 2 and the pawl 3 may be riveted to the reinforcing element 5.
  • This may also apply to a bearing pin or an axis 21 on the outer actuating lever 18, wherein the outer actuating lever 18 and bearing pin or axis 21 can form a one-piece unit.
  • the reinforcing element 5 or the reinforcing plate 5 is arranged substantially in the center compared to the inlet mouth 13. That is, when the catch 2 is closed, the locking pin 14 is located substantially in the center of the recess 12 of the reinforcing plate 5.
  • the reliequer- or Y-direction finally also the Vehicle vertical direction or Z direction drawn.
