Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a closure cap with a cap jacket and a cap base and an access opening in the cap base, which is closed by an easily penetrable membrane seal, and with a cover disc attached to the cap base, which covers the access opening with the membrane seal.
  • Corresponding caps are known, for example, from larger containers for drinking water, such as are increasingly being found in public places or also in business premises or factories, and which have a volume of about 15 to 20 liters (more precisely 5 gallons).
  • these containers are usually set up or hung with their opening facing downward, a removal valve being placed on the closure cap.
  • the valve usually has a mandrel which, when placed on the closure cap, either removes a stopper from an access opening or pierces a membrane seal closing the access opening and thus establishes the connection to the interior of the container. Otherwise the valve is firmly and sealedly connected to the closure cap and the mandrel penetrating the membrane seal or pushing a plug aside is usually hollow and establishes the connection to the interior of the container.
  • drinking water can then flow out of the container and through the valve into a drinking cup.
  • Such a cover disc is glued to the cap base and covers the membrane seal, which is generally arranged centrally in the removal opening of the cap base, in order to protect it from contamination in this way.
  • This cover disk can be a thin disk made of plastic or paper or also a thin film which is generally glued to the outside of the cap base.
  • a disadvantage of such a cover plate is, however, that the membrane seal closing the access opening is then no longer directly visible.
  • the cover disk or cover film is sometimes left on the lid and, together with the membrane seal, is pierced by the mandrel of a corresponding valve when it is placed on the cap of the container.
  • the present invention is therefore in no way restricted to use on drinking water containers.
  • the membrane itself is equipped in such a way that when it is punctured, some weaker connection areas between individual membrane sections tear, so that even after pulling out a corresponding dome, the membrane has an appearance which clearly differs from an intact membrane seal.
  • This object is achieved in that the cover plate is transparent at least in an area covering the membrane seal.
  • the cover disk or film is transparent over the membrane seal, the user can recognize the membrane seal even if the cover disk has not or has not yet been removed from the cap base.
  • the membrane seal is therefore visible at all times and it is easy to see whether it has already been pierced.
  • the cover plate is not contaminated or is briefly cleaned before use, the cover plate together with the underlying membrane can be pierced by the mandrel of a removal valve without the user having to do without a visual inspection of the membrane seal.
  • the only thing that matters is that that part of the cover plate which lies directly above the membrane or the membrane seal is transparent and shows the membrane seal. Further areas of the cover plate can easily be opaque or they can be printed with advertising or the like, for example.
  • the cover plate is expediently glued onto the surface of the cap base.
  • the shape of the cover plate is largely arbitrary, i.e. it can be circular, polygonal or in the form of advertising emblems or the like, as long as the area is sufficient to cover the membrane seal and a central area or the area covering the membrane seal in the cover plate is transparent.
  • the transparent region is expediently provided centrally in the cover pane and is surrounded by other regions which do not have to be transparent and which are in particular printed or otherwise colored.
  • a non-transparent area or not necessarily transparent area surrounds the central transparent area in a ring shape, so that the entire surface of the cover disk surrounding the central transparent area can be glued to the cap base.
  • an adhesive is used which loses its adhesive force after the cover plate has been pulled off the base of the cap, i.e. which can only be used once.
  • the cover plate also has a tab that is not or only partially glued to the cap base, which facilitates the gripping and removal of the cover plate from the cap base.
  • the cover plate can be provided, for example, in the form of a thin film, but if necessary it can also be made from a somewhat thicker and stronger plastic material.
  • an additional seal or a stopper can be provided in addition to the membrane seal and on the inside thereof.
  • the closure cap according to the invention can also be used for containers in which a liquid is under a slight excess pressure, such as drinking water mixed with a small amount of carbon dioxide, since the stopper then protects the membrane seal from the internal pressure of the container ,
  • FIG. 1 shows an axial section through a closure according to the invention
  • Figure 2 is a plan view of the cap base with a central cover disc attached thereon.
  • FIG. 1 shows a closure cap, generally designated 1, which essentially consists of an approximately cylindrical cap jacket 2 and a cap base 3 which has an approximately centrally arranged access opening 9.
  • the access opening 9 is essentially formed by a central, circular recess in the cap base 3 and a hollow cylindrical extension 6 starting from this circular recess.
  • this cylindrical extension 6 is closed by a membrane seal 4, the membrane seal 4 also without problems could be provided in a position further down in the cylindrical extension.
  • the cylindrical extension 6 is not absolutely necessary, but in addition to the membrane seal, a stopper (not shown here) could be provided, which closes the cylindrical extension 6 from below.
  • the cylindrical cap jacket 2 is at a certain distance from the cap base 3 and on its inside a circumferential bead 8 which engages behind a correspondingly projecting edge of a container neck, so that the closure cap 1 can be bounced onto an appropriately designed container neck.
  • a cross-sectionally L-shaped seal 5 is also provided on the cap base, which seals the edge of a corresponding container neck and holds the closure tightly on the container neck.
  • cover plate 7 On the top of the cap base 3 there is also a cover plate 7, shown here in exaggerated thickness, which covers the access opening 9 and in particular also the membrane seal 4 which closes the access opening 9 from the outside.
  • the cover plate 7 is glued to the cap base 3 in the area surrounding the access opening 9, an adhesive being expediently used which is no longer adhesive after the cover plate 7 has been detached from the cap base 3, so that a cover plate 7, once detached, is used if possible can no longer be glued to the cap base 3, unless additional adhesives are used.
  • FIG. 2 schematically shows a corresponding cap base 3 of a closure cap with 1 of the glued-on cover plate 7 which is transparent in the center and whose outer, annular region has, for example, an advertising print which is only symbolically indicated here by a radial radiation ring.
  • a transparent area of the cover plate 7 can be seen, under which again a membrane seal 4, shown here as broken, can be seen.
  • the membrane seal consists, for example, of six to eight individual pie-shaped sectors which are connected to one another via thin, tearable connecting sections.
  • cover disks were known in the prior art, but these did not allow a view of the membrane seal, so that damage was often not noticed, even if the cover disk was removed before use, since the cover disk is often removed and the dome inserted through takes place in a very short time interval in succession, the user possibly not taking the time to take a closer look at the membrane seal.
  • a damage to the seal was all the more noticeable if the cover disk, which was opaque according to the prior art, was pierced together with the membrane by a mandrel of a removal valve.
