Definitions

  • the invention relates to a board for gliding on snow, more particularly for the practice of alpine skiing by young children.
  • the present invention also relates to a method of manufacturing such a gliding board.
  • the skis used by young children are typically between 60 cm and 100 cm long. Due to their low weight, limited strength and inexperience in the practice of skiing, children need lightweight skis that have great flexibility and stability.
  • skis for children are relatively flexible, to facilitate the bending and consequently the curve of the ski to make a turn, bending which generally results from the weight and the acceleration taken by the child.
  • the stability of children's skis is achieved by widening them to reduce the ability to swing from one edge to the other. Thus, good stability will be obtained with skis for having a maximum width of 70 mm pad.
  • children must be able to wear their own pair of skis, upon arrival at the winter sports resort and for access to the ski lifts. This requires the manufacturer to make children's skis that are particularly light.
  • toys made by injection of a polymeric material, such as polystyrene. These toys have a lower surface forming a substantially flat surface acting as a sliding surface, an upper face on which can be fixed the boot of the child and a filling area defined between the lower face and the upper face.
  • a polymeric material such as polystyrene
  • a main problem to be solved by the invention is to provide, for a board for sliding on snow for children, a construction to obtain flexibility, stability and lightness, while ensuring a certain ease of sliding .
  • Another problem is to develop a method of making a snow board on snow, which is both simple to implement and inexpensive.
  • a single homogeneous material will form both the gliding sole and the core.
  • a gliding board will look like an adult ski, while having been particularly lightened, because of its hollow structure, replacing a fully solid core.
  • the resistance of the board will be increased, due to the absence of discontinuities between the different constituent parts of the board.
  • the board will look like a profile with a central opening, which will increase its strength.
  • the hollow volume of the core may favorably extend transversely substantially with a central position relative to the median longitudinal axis of the board. Also favorably, the hollow volume of the core may extend substantially from the front contact line to the rear contact line of the board.
  • the upper face and the lower face forming the gliding sole can be made with the polymer material of the core.
  • the upper face may comprise an upper element of protection and decoration. This upper element can be formed by a pre-decorated film.
  • the upper face and the core may advantageously comprise holes. These holes may be formed at the skate zone of the gliding board. These holes may be intended for mounting the fastening elements solidarisant a shoe of a user, that is to say, the child, to the gliding board.
  • the holes can be blind. In this case, protuberances, made with the polymer material of the core and the lower face and corresponding to each of the blind holes, protrude inside the hollow volume of the core.
  • the polymer material may be chosen, alone or as a mixture, from the group comprising polyolefins, such as polyethylenes and polypropylenes, polyurethanes, polyamides, styrenics or any other thermoplastic material injected.
  • polyolefins such as polyethylenes and polypropylenes, polyurethanes, polyamides, styrenics or any other thermoplastic material injected.
  • the method may advantageously comprise an additional step of positioning a pre-decorated film forming a protective upper and decorating element, provided before the step of closing the mold bottom with a cover.
  • the method may comprise an additional step of forming holes in the upper face and the core. These holes can be obtained, during the step of injecting a thermoplastic polymer material, with pins made on the inner face of the mold cover. The thermoplastic polymer material will be able to harden around these pins, giving protrusions that can protrude inside the hollow volume.
  • a snowboarding board of the classic type for children such as an alpine ski (1) comprises a front zone with a spatula (2), a rear zone with a raised heel (3), a central zone called a zone pad (4).
  • the ski (1) for example in the form of a shell, comprises a lower face forming a gliding sole (6) and an upper face (7) forming the upper part of the ski (1).
  • the gliding sole (6) is delimited on both sides by the two side edges (8).
  • the gliding sole (6) may include anti-back means (not shown), for example in the form of very thin scales oriented, to prevent them from starting again to back, when they do not control their glide.
  • the upper face (7) can be formed with an upper protection and decoration element (not shown).
  • the ski (1) comprises in its skid zone (4) the two elements of the binding intended to secure the child's boot to the ski (1), namely the front stop (9) and the rear heel piece ( 11).
  • the front stop (9) and the rear heel (11) are firmly held on the ski (1) by means of anchoring screws (not visible).
  • the screws are housed in holes (12) formed beforehand in the upper face (7) of the ski (1).
  • the ski (1) has an internal structure formed by a core (13). As shown by Figures 2 and 3 and according to the invention, the lower face forming the gliding sole (6) of the ski (1) is made of the same material as the core (13). The gliding performances for a child ski (1) are not the same as those required for a ski intended for teenagers and adults.
  • the upper face (7) forming the upper zone and the lateral faces of the ski (1) are also made of the same material as the core (13). Due to the presence of the hollow volume (14), the material of the upper face (7) forms a real bridge between the two lateral edges (8). As a result, only the two lateral edges (8) form two pieces made of a material that is heterogeneous with respect to the rest of the material and the structure of the ski (1).
  • an upper element ensuring both the decoration and the protection of the upper face (7) may be provided by being reported during the manufacture of the ski (1).
  • the core (13) of the ski (1) comprises a hollow volume (14) delimited by the walls of the ski (1).
  • This hollow volume (14) extends, without discontinuity, over the entire length of the ski (1), from the front contact line (16) to the rear contact line (17).
  • the spatula (2) and the heel (3) will be full.
  • the length of the hollow volume (14) is about 45 cm, for a ski (1) with a length of 70 cm.
  • the hollow volume (14) extends, without discontinuity, at the level of the pad area (4), to a height of approximately 0 , 7 cm, for a ski (1) with a length of 70 cm.
  • the hollow volume (14) extends, without discontinuity, over the entire width of the ski (1), centrally relative to the median longitudinal axis (L) of the ski (1).
  • the amplitude of the hollow volume (14) will be transversely limited.
  • the material of the core (13) of the ski (1) will completely cover and encompass internal fins (18) of the edges ( 8), which protrude inwardly of the ski (1) and thus the core (13).
  • the hollow volume (14) extends, at the level of the pad area (4), a width of about 6 cm, for a ski (1) with a width of 8 cm pad.
  • the material of the core (13) completely surrounds each of the holes (12) provided to receive the screws of the fastener elements (9 and 11), constituting a protrusion (19).
  • the material of the protuberance (19) circumscribes the generally cylindrical portion and closes the bottom of the holes (12) and enters the interior of the hollow volume (14) in the direction of the lower face (6). This will give continuity of the material for the protuberances (19), the lower face forming the gliding sole (6), the core (13), or the upper face (7).
  • the core (13) is made with one or more injected thermoplastic polymeric materials.
  • a method of manufacturing the ski (1) comprises several steps, in which the two edges (8) are placed laterally in the bottom of a mold. Above, where appropriate, an upper element of protection and decoration is placed next. Finally, we close the lid of the mold.
  • thermoplastic polymer material is then injected, which will constitute at the same time the glide sole (6), the core (13), or even the upper face (7), if there has not been any upper element of protection and decoration.
  • the polymer is preferably an injected thermoplastic material, such as polypropylene, polyethylenes, polyurethanes, polyamides, styrenics or any other injectable thermoplastic materials also giving good results.
  • the injection of pressurized gas is carried out by the same injection orifice in order to constitute the hollow volume (14).
  • the gas will repel the polymeric material, to press against the mold, and thus form walls of the ski (1) around the hollow volume (14).
  • the child ski (1) is demolded and deburred.
  • the orifices (12) present on the upper face (7) will be obtained through pins positioned on the inner face of the mold cover.
  • the injected thermoplastic material will flow around the pins and will form the protuberances (19) associated with the holes (12).
