Definitions
- the invention relates to a method for adjustment the flow rate of fuel from a fuel tank aspirating fuel pump unit in response to the constructed by the fuel pump unit discharge pressure in a leading to an internal combustion engine outlet of Fuel pump unit and on a fuel pump unit for this procedure.
- a control takes place the fuel pump as a function of operating parameters the internal combustion engine by appropriate speed adjustment the fuel pump. It will be the fuel pump built-up pressure by a pressure limiting element limited to a certain predetermined pressure. To do this as operating parameters by means of sensors the speed of the Fuel pump, the temperature and the suction pressure at the Throttle of the internal combustion engine and data on a Fuel composition detected and in an evaluation evaluated. This generates a clocked accordingly Control voltage for controlling the fuel pump.
- the object of the invention is therefore a method for adjustment the flow rate of fuel from a fuel tank sucking fuel pump unit and a fuel pump unit for this procedure to be created in simple way and with little effort a setting of Fuel delivery amount according to the respective fuel requirement enable the internal combustion engine.
- the fuel pump unit comprises a first pump stage and having a second pump stage, wherein below a certain Delivery pressure in the outlet of the fuel pump unit the two pump stages parallel and above the determined Delivery pressure to be switched serially.
- the object is thereby solved that the first pump stage one with a Fuel tank connected suction port has and one Pressure port and that the second pump stage a Suction port and one to the outlet of the fuel pump unit leading pressure port has, as well as with a Two-way valve, through which in a first switching position of Pressure connection of the first pump stage with the outlet of the Fuel pump unit and the suction port of the second Pump stage is connected to the fuel tank and where through the two-way valve in its second switching position of Pressure connection of the first pump stage to the suction connection the second pump stage is connected.
- This training does not require any sensors and electronic Evaluation unit for controlling the fuel pump, but regulates exclusively via mechanical components Fuel delivery. This is this fuel pump unit not only inexpensive, but also has a very low susceptibility to interference.
- the necessary volume flow for idle gas and for the middle Part load range of the internal combustion engine is characterized by the realized serial circuit of the two pump stages. Thereby, that the second pump stage then generates no pressure, reduces the necessary torque on the engine and thereby also the electric current consumption.
- the two pump stages are connected in parallel.
- the two-way valve can be a solenoid valve, depending on from the discharge pressure in the outlet of the fuel pump unit is controllable.
- the delivery pressure in the outlet of the fuel pump unit detectable by a pressure sensor and a corresponding Activation signal can be generated, through which the solenoid valve can be acted upon and in its first shift position or second Switch position is adjustable.
- a simple structure is achieved in that the Control slide cylindrical and each in one corresponding slide bore in a housing part of Fuel pump unit are arranged displaceably and a radial circumferential cam groove on its cylindrical surface possess, wherein in the first switching position of Pressure connection of the first pump stage via the second control groove of the second spool with the outlet of the fuel pump unit and a first suction port of the second Pump stage via the first control groove of the first spool with the leading to the fuel tank suction port is connected, and wherein in the second switching position of Pressure connection of the first pump stage via the second control groove with a second suction port of the second pump stage connected and the first suction port of the second pump stage from the first spool to the fuel tank leading suction connection is shut off.
- the flow pump is preferably a side channel pump or a Peripheralradpumpe is.
- the illustrated fuel pump unit has a tube-like Pump housing 1, in which a rotor 2 of an electric Drive motor 3 rotatably supported by a drive shaft 4 is.
- the rotor 2 is surrounded by a stator 5.
- the pump housing 1 of a End plate 6 is closed, which has a suction connection 7 has, which is connected to a fuel tank 8.
- the End plate 6 forms with its interior facing the housing Surface a side wall of a pump chamber 11 a a first pump stage forming the first side channel pump.
- the cup-shaped depression in a partition wall 9 is formed and axially on the other Side through the bottom of the cup-shaped recess of the partition 9 is limited, is a pump 10 of the first side channel pump arranged on the rotationally fixed in the pump chamber 11 projecting drive shaft 4 is seated.
- the suction port 7 leads both to the pump chamber 11 of first pump stage as well as to one formed in the partition wall 9 first slide bore 12 of a two-way valve 13.
- first slide bore 12 In this slide bore 12 is a first spool 14 slidably disposed on its radially outer End face against the force of a first control spring 15th displaceable from an open position to a closed position is pressurizable.
- the second spool 19 also to one its cylindrical circumferential surface formed radially circumferentially second control groove 21, on the in the open position a pressure port 22 of the first pump stage with a Connecting channel 23 is connected to the the drive motor 3 containing engine compartment 24 of the pump housing 1 leads, from which an outlet 25 leads to the outside and with an internal combustion engine is connectable.
- the engine compartment 24 is connected via connecting lines 26 and 27 with the first slide bore 12 and the second slide bore 18 for pressurizing the first spool 14 and the second spool 19 permanently connected, so that the spool 14 and 19 always from the ruling in the engine compartment Pressure are applied.
- first position of the second spool 19 is the pressure port 22 of the first pump stage with connected to the engine compartment 24, while in the second position of the second spool 19, the pressure port 22 of the first pump stage with a second suction port 28 of the second pump stage is connected.
- the second pump stage also consists of a side channel pump arranged with a in a pump chamber 29 second impeller 30, which also rotatably on the second pump chamber 29 protruding drive shaft 4 is arranged is.
- the second pump chamber 29 is a cup-shaped depression in one of the engine compartment 24 delimiting the pump stages second partition wall 31 is formed, wherein the bottom of the cup-shaped Deepening the second pump chamber 29 axially after the one side and the partition 9 axially to the other side limited. From the second pump chamber 29 performs a pressure connection 32 in the engine compartment 24th
- the pressure port 22 of the first pump stage is direct with the engine compartment 24 and the first suction port 17 of the second Pump stage with the suction port 7 of the fuel pump unit connected.
- the two pump stages are connected in parallel and promote both in a rotary drive by the drive motor. 3 a maximum flow in the engine compartment 24. This is from the fuel, the drive motor 3 at the same time cooling flows through and through the outlet 25 to the engine promoted.
