Definitions

  • the invention relates to a wheelchair frame according to the features of the preamble of the main claim.
  • the invention relates to a wheelchair frame for a provided with rear wheels and steerable front wheels wheelchair, with a right and a left side frame and arranged between the side frame, provided with a backrest seat.
  • the invention is applicable both to rigid wheelchair frames and to wheelchair frames which are laterally collapsible.
  • DE 202 16 312 U1 describes a wheelchair with adjustable seat height
  • the side frame is semicircular arc-shaped and supports a wheel at its ends. By choosing different wheel diameters, it is possible to change the seating position and seat height.
  • the invention has for its object to provide a wheelchair frame of the type mentioned, which in a simple Structure and simple, cost-effective manufacturability avoids the disadvantages of the prior art and also characterized by a visually attractive shape, has a frame profile, which allows simple and easy attachment of different attachments with a simple structure and simple, cost manufacturability and is provided with a wheelchair side part which avoids the disadvantages of the prior art with a simple structure and cost manufacturability and is easy to install.
  • the side frame is formed in the form of an arcuate profile which extends at least partially above the rear wheel from the region of the backrest to a hinge region of the front wheel.
  • the wheelchair frame according to the invention is characterized by a number of significant advantages.
  • the design of the side frame in the form of a single, arcuate profile results in a very low production cost. It is only necessary to deform or bend this one profile accordingly.
  • the steerable front wheels can be attached directly.
  • the profile extends at least to the area of the backrest, but it can be extended even further to the rear. According to the invention, no further lower horizontal struts are thus required, but the profile is the load-bearing structural element of the wheelchair frame or the two side frames.
  • a rear strut For supporting the rear wheels according to the invention at the rear portion of the side frame a rear strut attached, whose free end supports an axle for the rear wheel.
  • the rear strut may extend obliquely downward and forward, so that the axis of the rear wheel is arranged below the seating area of the wheelchair frame.
  • a cross member is arranged, which stores or trains the axes corresponding to the rear wheels.
  • the cross strut serves to connect the two side frames.
  • the front end portions of the two side frames may preferably be connected by means of a foot plate mounted at the front end of the two side frames. It is particularly advantageous if the foot plate can be mounted in different positions, so that an adaptation to the respective body size or leg length of the user is made possible.
  • the seat with the backrest is designed as a seat module.
  • this seat module can be installed separately or disassembled. It is also possible to use a separate seat shell, which is for example also removable and can be used for other purposes, such as a car seat for the disabled. Since the wheelchair frame according to the invention can be used in particular for children's wheelchairs, this variant is particularly advantageous.
  • the seat module is each designed and mounted so that a variety of mounting positions can be achieved. As a result, the seat height can be adjusted easily, the same applies to the seat depth and the relative position to the axis of the rear wheels.
  • the seat module is additionally mounted inclined by different mounting points at an angle to the horizontal. This makes it possible to realize differently inclined seating positions.
  • the seat module comprises in a favorable development of the invention in each case a lateral, substantially horizontal seat stay, which may for example be mounted on the arcuate profile (front end) and on the rear strut (rear end). These mounting points can be variable, for example, by providing a number of different holes to ensure any removable screw.
