Definitions

  • the invention relates to a method and a device for processing flat mail items according to the preambles of claims 1 and 5.
  • Double deductions or missed consignments can result in incorrect sequences in the combined stream of mail and the entire subsequent stack section due to the deduction sequence specified based on the known destination addresses of the pre-sorted stacks.
  • This incorrect sorting can be detected with a detection unit arranged on the transport path after the separating devices for determining the destination addresses.
  • the incorrectly posted items are then sorted into a special subject and then have to be sorted manually into the generated stack.
  • the detection unit should be arranged as close as possible to the separating device.
  • this is only possible to a limited extent, since there must always be a directional path in front of an inexpensive detection unit, i.e. the minimum distance between the separation device and the detection unit is approximately 2 m. This in turn means that when an error is detected, the mailpieces already in the straightening section can no longer be influenced and have to be manually inserted into the sorted stack, which is costly and time-consuming.
  • the invention is therefore based on the object of providing a method and a device in which two or more stacks of mail items sorted according to the distribution order, the destination addresses of which are known, are combined in a transport path in the distribution order and then stored together and with the aid thereof in the event of separation errors or incorrect consignments, the number of consignments to be manually classified in the sorted batch is reduced.
  • the consignments are divided over a switch to two subsequent transport paths, which are brought together again at their ends. At least one of the two following transport paths has a brake acceleration module. If the recognition unit determines an interchanged order of the mail items, the corresponding mail items that follow one another in front of the switch are compared with one another in the mail item stream. which is moved in such a way that the consignments are transported in the correct order after merging, while maintaining a minimum gap between the consignments for stacking. As a result, consignments with reversed order no longer have to be sorted manually like double deductions and incorrect consignments.
  • brake acceleration modules are located in the two following transport paths.
  • the consignment leading the consignment stream is shifted backwards in the consignment stream by means of a brake acceleration module located there, and in the other transport path the consecutive consignment with the brake acceleration module located there is moved forward.
  • the corresponding subsequent transport path is advantageously shorter than the transport path for the mail items to be shifted backward.
  • the corresponding shipments have already been moved forward by the amount of the difference in length.
  • the subsequent shorter transport path for the items to be moved forward is designed without a brake acceleration module.
  • 1 shows a schematic plan view of a device for matching two consecutive batches of mail sorted according to the distribution order
  • FIG. 2 shows a schematic illustration of the shifting process for correcting the incorrect sorting after a double take-off with two brake acceleration modules
  • FIG. 3 shows a schematic illustration of the shifting process in the case of a plurality of deductions in succession from a stack with two brake acceleration modules
  • FIG. 4 shows a schematic illustration of the displacement process with a brake acceleration module.
  • a material input 1 is provided for each of the two stacks of flat mail items sorted according to the distribution order.
  • the mail items are placed on the respective feeder bed 2 and transported to the separating device 3 by means of an underfloor belt and a support which is detachably coupled to it and holds the stack upright.
  • These separating devices 3 pull the foremost mail item off the stack and convey it via a merging into a transport path 4, which is designed as a shroud system.
  • An alignment station 5 is integrated in the transport path 4 so that the mail items pass through a subsequent recognition unit 6 in a defined aligned position, with which the destination addresses on the mail items are read.
  • a sensor arrangement 7 - designed as a light barrier - then follows on the transport path 4 for detecting the front and rear edges of the mail items, so that the switching times of a switch 8 and the controlled processes of brake acceleration modules 11, 12 while maintaining the specified minimum gaps between the mail items before stacking can be defined by the control.
  • This transport path 4 is followed by two subsequent transport paths 9, 10, each having a brake acceleration module 11, 12, via the switch 8.
  • shipments can be shifted backwards by braking and possibly stopping in the mail flow or by accelerating the mail flow forward, as required, whereby there are limits to the shifting forward. To move this limit, the transport path 11, in which the mail items are moved forward, is shorter than the other transport path 12. Both transport paths 11, 12 are combined via a merge.
  • FIGS. 2-4 The displacement process is shown in more detail in FIGS. 2-4.
  • the arrows and the numbers in them indicate the order in which the two stacks must be separated on the basis of the transmitted target destination addresses, ie first the first mailing "1" of the upper stack, then the frontmost consignment "2" of the lower stack, then the following consignment "3" of the upper stack, etc. If the separation processes were correct, the sequence shown in the flow of the consignment would result.
  • Moving takes place in such a way that the shipments to be moved forward by the minimum gap plus the Length of the item placed before the postponement is shifted and the items to be postponed are postponed by the minimum gap plus the length of the item placed behind the postponement.
  • This sequence is shown in FIG. 3 with the special feature that four mail items “4, 6, 8, 10” are to be deducted from the lower stack in succession on the basis of the target information relating to the destination addresses.
