Definitions
- the invention relates to an airbag module for motor vehicles with at least an airbag having an airbag cover and at least one in the airbag cover trained mounting opening for passing at least a part of a gas generator.
- Such air bag modules are known in many forms and find for example, in a driver, passenger or side airbag use.
- the gas generator in the Production of the module via a mounting opening in the airbag cover at least partially inserted into the airbag in the event of an impact to inflate the air bag to protect the vehicle occupants.
- the known air bag modules have the disadvantage that at Inflate the airbag through the mandatory mounting hole Gas can escape to the outside, so the inflation behavior of the Airbag is impaired.
- the escape of the gas through the mounting hole is particularly undesirable because that through the mounting hole escaping gas is not used to inflate the airbag Is available, which is why the gas generator are oversized in order to generate enough pressure quickly enough can.
- the oversizing of the gas generator increases the space requirement, what is disadvantageous because the space for air bag modules in motor vehicles is very low and can be even lower in the future to one higher degree of freedom for the design of the interior, for example or to ensure the bodywork.
- the airbag cover at least two at least partially superimposed layers, in which Sections or slots are provided, which share the mounting hole form, with the cuts or slots oriented differently and / or offset from one another.
- the Mounting hole is formed by cuts or slots that are different oriented and / or staggered.
- the airbag cover is in the area surrounding the mounting hole multi-layered executed.
- the airbag module according to the invention is characterized from that each formed by the cuts or slots long stretched passages are not arranged congruently one above the other are, creating a total labyrinthine passage.
- the airbag module according to the invention has the advantage that the incisions or slits of a layer covered by adjacent layers are.
- An escaping during inflation of the air bag through the mounting hole Gas quantity can be offset by the and / or different oriented arrangement of the incisions or slots at least reduced so that increased tightness of the mounting opening of the airbag given is.
- Mounting opening is possible in principle, such a high density to achieve that virtually ignores the escaping gas amount can be.
- the expansion of the mounting hole can also be carried out by a separate widening tool, in addition to Art a "shoehorn" can take effect to the insertion and passage of the gas generator through the airbag cover to facilitate.
- the airbag module according to the invention is characterized in that the gas generator saves space inside the airbag at the same time high tightness of the mounting hole can be arranged.
- the incisions or slits crossing each other at least at one point arranged This can be achieved that during assembly of the Gas generator, the layers of the airbag cover at most slightly against each other have to be moved to the cuts or slots like that to arrange on top of each other that a simple implementation of the gas generator or part of it.
- a further advantageous embodiment is characterized that the cuts or slits of superimposed layers alternately in a first direction and a second, to an angle in particular oriented at 90 degrees to the first direction are.
- the manufacturing process can be simplified because during assembly of the airbag cover only between exactly two respect the direction of the sipes or slots different Layers must be distinguished.
- a possible easy to open mounting hole can get the cuts or slots overhangs adjacent layers at least partially be formed congruent, with the incisions or slots adjacent layers at least in one point, in particular the midpoints the cuts or slots, arranged crossing each other are.
- the cuts or slots are formed at least substantially rectilinear.
- the production of the mounting hole is thereby particularly simple. On This way can also at a given expansion of the Mounting opening that allows the implementation of the gas generator, a smallest possible total length of the respective incision or slot, i.e. a maximum expansion with minimal incision or slot length and thus the greatest possible tightness can be achieved.
- the superimposed layers of the the mounting hole comprehensive area of the airbag shell at least one fastening means, in particular a seam, with each other are connected.
- the fastener ensures that the one above the other lying layers not arbitrarily far against each other are.
- the airbag cover may at least one passage for at least a particular tab-like attachment portion of the gas generator exhibit. It is preferably provided that at least one Passage coincides with the mounting hole. In this way, the mounting opening is used to pass through the mounting section used and so achieved that for insertion and for Attachment of the gas generator necessary openings in the airbag shell reduced to a production-friendly, as small as possible can be.
- the implementation may further at least in one layer of the airbag shell an additional incision or slot, which in one to one Angles in particular of 90 degrees with respect to the trained in this situation Incision or slit twisted direction is oriented. hereby can be achieved that superimposed layers for recording the attachment portion of the gas generator in the implementation in a common direction can be cut or slotted, i.e. the additional cuts or slots for the attachment sections can be arranged congruently one above the other, in terms of the tightness is uncritical, as long as the additional cuts or slots are made comparatively short.
- the airbag 10 according to the invention shown in FIG. 1 comprises an airbag cover 12, their outermost position by sewing two coherent, superimposed fabric plies sections by means of a Edge seam 13 is formed, a mounting opening 14 for passing a gas generator, not shown in Fig. 1, with a passage 16 for receiving a mounting portion of a gas generator coincides, another implementation 16 and a mounting hole 14 and the further implementation 16 comprehensive four-ply Area 18 of the airbag shell 12.
- the four-ply region 18 is defined by the outermost layer of the airbag envelope 12 and three superimposed, disposed within the outermost layer inner layers formed.
- One or more of the inner layers of the four-ply Area 18 are for protecting the airbag 10 in triggering the Gas generator designed as a heat shield.
- the inner layers can be one have different shape and / or size.
- the superimposed layers of the four-ply region 18 are through a first seam 20, which includes a first opening 14 surrounding the mounting opening Area 22 of the airbag shell 12 completely from the rest of the airbag shell 12 separates, and a second seam 24, which one the further implementation 16 comprehensive second portion 26 of the airbag shell 12 completely from the remaining airbag cover 12 separates, connected to each other.
- the airbag 10 also has an outflow opening 28 through which in the Air bag 10 blown gas from the air bag 10 to the outside can.
- FIG. 2 shows the four-ply region 18 in a comparison with FIG. 1 other spread state of the airbag 10, which is characterized indicates that the areas 22, 26 are completely spread while they are folded centrally in the state shown in FIG. 1.
- Fig. 2 shows in particular, that the seams 20, 24 are closed seams, respectively the mounting opening 14 and the passage 16 completely surrounded.
- the superimposed layers of the four-ply region 18 are long elongated passages 30, which in this embodiment in shape are provided by cuts or slots 30, which together the Forming opening 14, wherein in Figs. 1 and 2, only the incision or slit 30 of the outermost layer is shown.
- the cuts or slots 30 of the individual layers are formed in a straight line.
- the passages 30 will merely be referred to as Called incisions.
- the superimposed layers continue to have additional cuts 32 for passing the attachment portions of the gas generator on, wherein in Figs. 1 and 2, in turn, only the additional cuts 32 of the outermost layer are shown.
- the incisions 30 are one above the other lying layers alternately transversely in a first direction and along in a second, rotated 90 degrees from the first direction Direction oriented.
- the incisions 30 of the outermost layer and the outermost position after situation as well as the innermost position and the innermost location after next location are each congruent educated.
- the mutually perpendicular cuts 30th adjacent layers cross each other in the centers of the Cuts 30.
- the mounting opening 14 By the formation of the mounting opening 14 alternately along and transversely cut layers creates a slot cross and thus a labyrinthine passage for passing the gas generator or part of it.
- the in which the mounting hole 14 comprehensive area 22 formed additional cuts 32 of the outermost layer and the outermost Location after next location are compared to the trained in each situation Incision 30 rotated 90 degrees.
- the additional cuts 32 of these two layers intersect with the incisions 30 of the respective position and each parallel to the incisions 30 of the adjacent location or locations.
- the recesses 30 formed in the region 22 of the innermost layer and the position next to the innermost layer and those in the area 22 trained additional cuts 32 of the outermost layer and the Outermost layer next layer together form the with the mounting hole 14 coincident passage 16 for a mounting portion of the gas generator.
- the further implementation 16 (FIG. 1, FIG. 2), which does not coincide with the mounting opening 14, is replaced by four congruent additional cuts 32 in the superimposed Layers formed.
- the starting point is the expanded state shown in FIG of the airbag 10.
- the mounting opening 14 is characterized by respect to the Direction of the incisions 30 alternating arrangement of the layers closed.
- the mounting hole 14 To open the mounting hole 14 is with the fingers in through the Incisions 30 formed labyrinthine passage intervened to the Expand mounting opening 14. With the help of other fingers, if necessary, both hands, the already partially expanded mounting hole 14 are further increased, so that performing the Gas generator 34 (Fig. 3b) is enabled. It has been shown that the Mounting opening 14 by the intervention of one or more fingers be opened wide enough in a surprisingly simple way can. However, the mounting opening 14 can also by a not shown widened separate widening agent, at the same time as Shoe horn serve and the introduction of the gas generator 34 in the Air bag 10 can facilitate.
- the inflator 34 then becomes with its one tab-like attachment portion 36 having the front part progressing through the flared Mounting opening 14 inserted into the airbag 10.
- the front attachment section 36 is within the airbag 10 until further Implementation 16 steered and through the further implementation 16 of the Airbag shell 12 led to the outside.
- the airbag 10 is so over the entire gas generator 34 pulled that in addition to the front attachment portion 36th only one tab-like rear attachment portion 38 of the gas generator 34 through the coincident with the mounting opening 14 Passage 16 protrudes outward, as shown in Fig. 4 is illustrated.
- the gas generator 34 at the front attachment portion 36th be held to a descent of the front part of the gas generator 34 back into the interior of the airbag 10 to prevent.
- the mounting opening 14 - if necessary at all -
- a connecting line 40 for triggering the Gas generator 34 by coinciding with the mounting hole 14 Feedthrough 16 is led to the outside.
- the airbag cover 12 in the multilayer area 18 forming layers and the passages 30, 32 may be that an active closing of the Mounting opening 14 and the bushing 16 is not required, but the airbag cover 12 endeavors to return to its original state by itself to take, i. that the mounting hole 14 and the passage 16 are performed in a sense self-closing.
- the passage 16 of the airbag cover 12 coincides with the mounting opening 14 insofar together, as the tab-like rear attachment portion 38 through the incisions 30 of the innermost layer and the innermost Location after next location as well as the additional cuts 32 of the outermost position and the situation after the outermost situation outside is guided.
- the incisions 30 of the innermost layer and the zur innermost position after next layer take over so a double function, since they both the insertion of the gas generator 34 in the airbag 10th allow as well as the rear attachment portion 38 record.
- the orientation of the additional cuts 32 of the superimposed Layers, through which the bushings 16 are formed, can be connected to the respective orientation of the tab-like attachment portions 36, 38th be adapted to the airbag in the areas 22, 26 as possible close tightly.
- the additional cuts 32 are opposite to the Incisions 30 shortened executed and can to the length of the respective Attachment section 36, 38 are adjusted.
- the lengths of the Notches 30 may in particular be a multiple of the lengths of the additional Incisions 32 amount.
- FIG. 4 An inventive air bag module with a - apart from the Attachment sections 36, 38 - completely within the airbag cover 12 arranged gas generator 34 has in the illustrated in Fig. 4 Final state in the region of the mounting hole 14 practically dense Air bag shell 12, so that the ejected from the gas generator 34 Gas only through the specially provided for this purpose outflow 28 (FIG. 1) can escape.
