Abstract

Die vorliegende Erfindung betrifft die Verwendung oxidierter, mit Hilfe von Metallocenkatalysatoren hergestellter Polyolefinwachse für die textile Ausrüstung.

Beschreibung
Verwendung von oxidierten Polyolefinwachsen für die textile Ausrüstung
Die vorliegende Erfindung betrifft die Verwendung oxidierter Polyolefinwachse.
Die Endausrüstung von textilen Fäden, Geweben und Maschenware aus Cellulosefasern, Wolle, synthetischen Fasern und deren Mischungen mit Weichmachern auf Basis weicher bis harter Polyethylenwachse ist Stand der Technik in der heutigen Textilindustrie. Es werden hierfür insbesondere wässrige Dispersionen von oxidierten Polyethylenwachsen eingesetzt.
Über den weichmachenden, griffverbessernden Effekt hinaus müssen textile Weichmacher weitere Funktionen erfüllen. Die in der textilen Endausrüstung häufig verwendeten Melaminharze für die Knitterfest- und Pflegeleichtausrüstung verschlechtern in erheblichem Maße die Griff-, Vernäh- und Soil-Release- Eigenschaften. Dieser negative Effekt wird durch moderne Weichmacher auf Basis polarer Polyethylenwachse weitgehend behoben. Zur Reduzierung von Kosten und Arbeitszeit müssen in der textilen Endausrüstung die Polyethyienwachsdispersionen mit den Melaminderivaten verträglich sein, um aus einem Nachbehandlungsbad appliziert werden zu können. Dabei zeigen die harten, hochmolekularen polaren Polyethylenwachse mit einem zahlenmittleren Molgewicht (Mn) über 2000 g/mol als Wirksubstanz deutlich bessere Eigenschaften als die niedrigmolekularen, weichen polaren Polyethylenwachse.
Nachteil der harten hochmolekularen Polyethylenwachsoxidate ist der zur Emulgierung erforderliche hohe Aufwand. Die Emulgierung muss im geschlossenem Autoklaven bei Temperaturen von 135-155°C durchgeführt werden. Dies erfordert neben dem höheren Zeitaufwand höhere Energiekosten sowie einen hohen Kühlwasserverbrauch, um die fertige Dispersion auf Raumtemperatur abzukühlen. Es wurde nun gefunden, dass sich oxidierte Wachse auf Basis von mit Metallocenkatalysatoren hergestellten Polyethylenwachsen hervorragend für den Einsatz als textile Weichmacher eignen und dabei gleichzeitig den Vorteil leichter Emulgierbarkeit bei niedrigen Temperaturen bieten.
Gegenstand der Erfindung ist daher die Verwendung oxidierter, mit Hilfe von Metallocenkatalysatoren hergestellter Polyolefinwachse für die textile Ausrüstung.
Bevorzugt werden als Polyolefinwachse Ethylen-Homo- oder Copolymerwachse, enthaltend 0-30 Gew.-% eines Olefin-Comonomers mit einer Kettenlänge von 3-18 C-Atomen eingesetzt.
Bevorzugt werden als Olefin-Comonomere Propen, 1 -Buten, 1 -Hexen, 1-Octen, 1-Octadecen oder Styrol eingesetzt.
Bevorzugt weisen die oxidierten Polyolefinwachse einen Tropfpunkt von 85 bis 127°C auf.
Besonders bevorzugt weisen die oxidierten Polyolefinwachse einen Tropfpunkt von 90 bis 120 °C auf.
Bevorzugt weisen die oxidierten Polyolefinwachse eine Schmelzviskosität (bei 140°C) von 10 bis 10.000 mPa»s auf.
Besonders bevorzugt weisen die oxidierten Polyolefinwachse eine Schmelzviskosität (bei 140°C) von 20 bis 5.000 mPa«s auf.
Insbesondere weisen die oxidierten Polyolefinwachse eine Schmelzviskosität (bei 140°C) von 30 bis 2.000 mPa»s auf.
Bevorzugt weisen die oxidierten Polyolefinwachse eine Dichte von 0,89 bis 1 ,00 g/cm3 auf. Besonders bevorzugt weisen die oxidierten Polyolefinwachse eine Dichte (bei 20°C) von 0,91 bis 0,98 g/cm3 auf.
Bevorzugt weisen die oxidierten Polyolefinwachse Säurezahlen zwischen 14 und 30 mg KOH/g auf.
Besonders bevorzugt weisen die oxidierten Polyolefinwachse Säurezahlen zwischen 16 und 25 mg KOH/g auf.
Bevorzugt werden die oxidierten Polyolefinwachse in Form wässriger Dispersionen eingesetzt.
Zusammengefasst weisen die oxidierten Polyolefinwachse Tropfpunkte von 85 bis 125°C, bevorzugt von 90 bis 120°C, Schmelzviskositäten, gemessen bei 140°C, von 10 bis 10.000 mPa»s, bevorzugt von 20 bis 5.000 mPa«s, insbesondere von 30 bis 2000 mPa«s, Dichten (bei 20°C) von 0,89 bis 1 ,00 g/cm3, bevorzugt von 0,91 bis 0,98 g/cm3 und Säurezahlen zwischen 14 und 30 mg KOH/g, bevorzugt zwischen 16 und 25 mg KOH/g auf.
Als Ausgangsstoffe für die oxidierten Wachse kommen Homopolymerisate des Ethylens oder Copolymerisate des Ethylens mit einem oder mehreren 1-Olefinen in Frage. Als 1-Olefine werden lineare oder verzweigte Olefine mit 3-18 C-Atomen, vorzugsweise 3-6 C-Atomen, eingesetzt. Beispiele hierfür sind Propen, 1 -Buten, 1-Hexen, 1-Octen oder 1-Octadecen, weiterhin Styrol. Bevorzugt sind Copolymere des Ethylens mit Propen oder 1 -Buten. Die Copolymeren bestehen zu 70-99.9, bevorzugt zu 80-99 Gew.-% aus Ethylen.
Besonders gut geeignet sind Polyolefinwachse mit einem Tropfpunkt zwischen 90 und 130°C, bevorzugt zwischen 100 und 127°C, einer Schmelzviskosität bei 140°C zwischen 10 und 10000 mPa.s, bevorzugt zwischen 20 und 5000 mPa.s und einer Dichte bei 20°C zwischen 0,89 und 0,98 cm3/g, bevorzugt zwischen 0,90 und 0,97 cm3/g. Metallocenkatalysatoren zur Herstellung der Polyolefinwachse sind chirale oder nichtchirale Übergangsmetallverbindungen der Formel M1LX. Die Übergangsmetallverbindung M X enthält mindestens ein Metallzentralatom M1, an das mindestens ein π-Ligand, z.B. ein Cyclopentadienylligand gebunden ist. Darüber hinaus können Substituenten, wie z.B. Halogen-, Alkyl-, Alkoxy- oder Arylgruppen an das Metallzentralatom M1 gebunden sein. M1 ist bevorzugt ein Element der III., IV., V. oder VI. Hauptgruppe des Periodensystems der Elemente, wie Ti, Zr oder Hf. Unter Cyclopentadienylligand sind unsubstituierte Cyclopentadienylreste und substituierte Cyclopentadienylreste wie Methylcyclopentadienyl-, Indenyl-, 2-MethyIindenyl-, 2-Methyl-4-phenylindenyl-, Tetrahydroindenyl- oder Octahydrofluorenylreste zu verstehen. Die π-Liganden können verbrückt oder unverbrückt sein, wobei einfache und mehrfache Verbrückungen - auch über Ringsysteme - möglich sind. Die Bezeichnung Metallocen umfasst auch Verbindungen mit mehr als einem Metallocenfragment, sogenannte mehrkernige Metallocene. Diese können beliebige
Substitutionsmuster und Verbrückungsvarianten aufweisen. Die einzelnen Metallocenfragmente solcher mehrkernigen Metallocene können sowohl gleichartig als auch voneinander verschieden sein. Beispiele für solche mehrkernigen Metallocene sind z.B. beschrieben in EP 0 632 063 A2.
Beispiele für allgemeine Strukturformeln von Metallocenen sowie für deren Einsatz für die Herstellung von Olefin-Homo- und Copolymerwachsen sind u.a. in EP 0 571 882 A2 angegeben.
Durch Oxidation der solchermaßen hergestellten Wachse in der Schmelze mittels Sauerstoff oder Sauerstoff enthaltenden Gasgemischen nach bekannten Verfahren, etwa nach EP 0 896 591 A2 oder nach EP 0 890 583 A2, erhält man polare Wachsoxidate.
Für die Anwendung zur textilen Ausrüstung gemäss der vorliegenden Erfindung werden bevorzugt Oxidate aus Ethylen-Homopolymerwachsen mit Säurezahlen zwischen 14 und 30 mg KOH/g, Tropfpunkten zwischen 90 und 120°C und Schmelzviskositäten, gemessen bei 140°C, zwischen 20 und 5000 mPa.s eingesetzt.
Für den Einsatz zur textilen Ausrüstung werden die oxidierten Polyolefinwachse in bekannter Weise unter Verwendung von nichtionogenen, anionischen oder kationischen Emulgatoren unter Druck in Wasser emulgiert.
Beispiele
Die Schmelzviskositäten der nachfolgend beschriebenen Wachse wurden mit einem Rotationsviskosimeter entsprechend DGF-M-Ill 8 (57), die Tropfpunkte entsprechend DGF-M-Ill 3 (75), die Nadelpenetrationszahlen (NPZ) entsprechend DGF-M-Ill 9b (95), die Säurezahlen entsprechend DGF-M-IV 2 (57) (Normen der Deutschen Gesellschaft für Fettwissenschaft), die Dichten entsprechend DIN 53479 ermittelt.
Für die erfindungsgemäßen Beispiele wurden zwei Wachsoxidate (W1/1 und W1/2) eingesetzt, die durch Luftoxidation der mit Metallocenkatalysatoren synthetisierten Polyethylenwachse E1/1 und E1/2 gewonnen wurde. Letztere wurde durch Homopolymerisation von Ethylen entsprechend EP 0 571 882 A2, Beispiel 2 mit Bis(indenyl)zirkondichlorid als Katalysator sowie Methylalumoxan als Cokatalysator hergestellt und zeigten die folgenden Eigenschaften:

Die Umsetzung zu den Oxidaten W1/1 und W 1/2 (Tabelle 2) erfolgte in der Schmelze mit Luft nach der in EP 0 890 583 A2, Beispiel 1 beschriebenen Arbeitsweise.
Für die Vergleichsbeispiele wurden die Oxidate W2-W4 aus nicht mit Metallocenkatalysatoren hergestellten Rohstoffen verwendet.

Aus den Oxidaten W1/1 , W1/2 und W2-W4 wurden wässrige Dispersionen unter Einsatz folgender Emulgatoren hergestellt:
Emulgator 1 : Synperonic 13/12 (ICI): Tridecanol, oxethyliert mit 12 Mol Ethylenoxid.
Emulgator 2: Genapol OX-100 (Clariant): Polyglykolether auf Basis eines synthetischen Cι2-C15-Oxoalkohols, oxethyliert mit 10 Mol Ethylenoxid. In Tabelle 3 sind die für die Herstellung der Wachsdispersionen D1/1-D4 verwendeten Rezepturbestandteile angegeben (alle Einsatzmengen in Gew.- Teilen). Der Emulgator wurde in ca. 50°C warmem entsalztem Wasser gelöst und zusammen mit Wachs, Kaliumhydroxid, Natriumpyrosulfit und Wasser in einen Autoklaven gegeben. Es wurde innerhalb von 20 min auf 115°C aufgeheizt, 20 min bei dieser Temperatur gerührt, dann innerhalb von 35 min auf Raumtemperatur abgekühlt. Die Rührgeschwindigkeit betrug 200 Umdrehungen/min.

Als Qualitätskriterium für die jeweilige Polyethylenwachsdispersion diente deren Lichtdurchlässigkeit (LD), gemessen mittel eines Transparenzmessgerätes LT 12/Küvette 2 mm (Dr. Lange). Bei Verwendung für textiltechnische Anwendungen sollte die verwendete Polyethylenwachsdispersion eine Lichtdurchlässigkeit von >50 % haben. Dieser Anforderung wurden lediglich die Polyethylenwachsoxidate W1/1 und W1/2 aus Metallocenwachs sowie das relativ weiche Polyethylenwachsoxidat W3 gerecht. Die nach Formulierung D2 und D4 nicht emulgierbaren Wachse wurden nach gegenüber der obigen Verfahrensweise veränderten Rezepturen emulgiert (Tabelle 4). Die so hergestellten Polyethyienwachsdispersionen zeigen die geforderte Transparenz von > 50 %.

Für die Herstellung der textilen Nachbehandlungsflotten N1/1-N4 wurden jeweils 20 g der Polyethyienwachsdispersionen D1/1 , D1/2, D3, D5 bzw. D6 mit dem Kunstharztyp Arkofix NDF konz. (modifizierter N-Methylol-dihydroxyethylen- harnstoff, Handelsprodukt d. Fa. Clariant GmbH) für die Wash and Wear- Ausrüstung und dem zur Vernetzung der Kunstharzausrüstung notwendigen Katalysator 3282 (Katalysator auf Metallsalzbasis, Handelsprodukt d. Fa. Clariant GmbH) sowie mit 0,5 g Essigsäure in entsalztes Wasser eingerührt und auf 1 aufgefüllt.
Dies so hergestellten Nachbehandlungsflotten N1/1-N4 wurden bei Raumtemperatur mittels Laborfoulard auf gebleichte Baumwollmaschenware mit einer Flottenaufnahme von 70 % appliziert, anschließend 2 Min. bei 100°C getrocknet und 3 Min. bei 150°C fixiert.
Die nach dieser Applikationsmethode unter Verwendung der 5 Polyethyienwachsdispersionen D1/1, D1/2, D3, D5 und D6 nachbehandelte Baumwollmaschenware zeigte folgende textiltechnischen Eigenschaften (Tabelle 5):

Die unter „Vernäheigenschaften" angegebenen Werte beschreiben die Anzahl der Nähschäden auf einer Länge von 50 cm Baumwollmaschenware. Für die Prüfung wurden 3 verschiedenen Nadelstärken bei einer Vernähgeschwindigkeit von 3000 Nadelstichen/Minute verwendet.

Claims

Patentansprüche:
1. Verwendung oxidierter, mit Hilfe von Metallocenkatalysatoren hergestellter Polyolefinwachse für die textile Ausrüstung.
2. Verwendung nach Anspruch 1 , wobei als Polyolefinwachse Ethylen-Homo- oder Copolymerwachse, enthaltend 0 bis 30 Gew.-% eines Olefin-Comonomers mit einer Kettenlänge von 3 bis 18 C-Atomen eingesetzt werden.
3. Verwendung nach Anspruch 1 oder 2, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass als Olefin-Comonomere Propen, 1-Buten, 1-Hexen, 1-Octen, 1-Octadecen oder Styrol eingesetzt werden.
4. Verwendung nach einem oder mehreren der Ansprüche 1 bis 3, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die oxidierten Polyolefinwachse einen Tropfpunkt von 85 bis 125°C aufweisen.
5. Verwendung nach einem oder mehreren der Ansprüche 1 bis 4, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die oxidierten Polyolefinwachse einen Tropfpunkt von 90 bis 120°C aufweisen.
6. Verwendung nach einem oder mehreren der Ansprüche 1 bis 5, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die oxidierten Polyolefinwachse eine Schmelzviskosität (bei 140°C) von 10 bis 10.000 mPa»s aufweisen.
7. Verwendung nach einem oder mehreren der Ansprüche 1 bis 6, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die oxidierten Polyolefinwachse eine Schmelzviskosität (bei 140°C) von 20 bis 5.000 mPa«s aufweisen.
8. Verwendung nach einem oder mehreren der Ansprüche 1 bis 7, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die oxidierten Polyolefinwachse eine Schmelzviskosität (bei 140°C) von 30 bis 2000 mPa*s aufweisen.
9. Verwendung nach einem oder mehreren der Ansprüche 1 bis 8, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die oxidierten Polyolefinwachse eine Dichte (bei 20°C) von 0,89 bis 1 ,00 g/cm3 aufweisen.
10. Verwendung nach einem oder mehreren der Ansprüche 1 bis 9, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die oxidierten Polyolefinwachse eine Dichte (bei 20°C) von 0,91 bis 0,98 g/cm3 aufweisen.
11. Verwendung nach einem oder mehreren der Ansprüche 1 bis 10, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die oxidierten Polyolefinwachse Säurezahlen zwischen 14 und 30 mg KOH/g aufweisen.
12. Verwendung nach einem oder mehreren der Ansprüche 1 bis 11 , dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die oxidierten Polyolefinwachse Säurezahlen zwischen 16 und 25 mg KOH/g aufweisen.
13. Verwendung nach einem oder mehreren der Ansprüche 1 bis 12, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die oxidierten Polyolefinwachse in Form wässriger Dispersionen eingesetzt werden.
