Definitions
- the invention relates to a silencer insert made of a shaped element for Insert into an annulus between an exhaust pipe and a muffler with an in an at least temporarily dimensionally stable shell element introduced mixture of glass fiber yarn.
- Muffler inserts of the generic type are among others in Exhaust system silencers for internal combustion engines Noise reduction used. Such silencers are mostly around pot-like structures through which the openings are provided Exhaust pipe is guided. Sound waves propagate inside the muffler and give their energy to the one in the muffler Damping material.
- the sound-absorbing material is preferably a so-called porous Soundproofing material, i.e. a material without structured arrangements of cavities and material flow.
- Such materials are introduced into the silencer pots, under Using known methods, the material is filled into suitable bags will be closed and these pockets in the silencer pots be inserted. With such absorption silencers, it can be in Dependence of the operating conditions on a high thermal load of the Silencer insert come. In addition, exothermic chemical Reactions in the gas flowing through heat the silencer insert.
- the object of the invention is therefore to create a generic silencer insert which can withstand a high thermal input.
- the invention proposes a muffler insert made of a shaped element for introduction into an annular space between an exhaust pipe and a muffler with a mixture of glass fiber yarn introduced into an at least temporarily dimensionally stable shell element, wherein at least a portion of the muffler insert can be acted upon with a cooling medium.
- the cooling medium can be used to ensure that at least part of the in the Muffler insert introduced heat output is dissipated. So can for example, a silencer insert for a given application have higher packing density.
- the cooling medium can, for example, by a gas like air, nitrogen, and so on, or even through a liquid like for example, water, oil and the like.
- the outside air can have an additional one Opening on the muffler are supplied, with a predetermined portion the outside air can flow through the muffler insert. With a simple execution can in this way cooling the Muffler insert can be achieved.
- the silencer insert in the axial direction is designed to flow through. So the supplied cooling medium for example, flow through the silencer insert in the same direction like the gas that is intended to flow through the muffler.
- Suitable openings on the muffler can be made using a Suction effect can be achieved for the cooling medium.
- additional Funding for conveying the cooling medium can be avoided.
- the Muffler insert can be flowed through in the radial direction.
- a flow of the cooling medium from the outside radially inwards through the Muffler insert may be provided.
- a small one can be advantageous Outside temperature of the muffler can be reached, whereby Thermal protection measures can be avoided.
- a motor vehicle can For example, airflow is diverted accordingly and the muffler on one provided opening are supplied.
- Thermal insulation measures like them For example, to protect against the risk of fire when parking a vehicle saved in a dry meadow can be saved. Also one The thermal load on neighboring components can be reduced become.
- At least a partial area as a segment delimited from other partial areas by at least one separating element is.
- a predetermined cooling effect can advantageously be applied to an area be concentrated, which is adjacent to thermally sensitive components is arranged.
- the separating element in at least one Direction can be flowed through.
- Radial segmentation of the silencer insert can be achieved that the Coolant flows through each zone delimited by separators.
- the separating element is formed like a valve.
- a flow of the Cooling medium depending on the temperature or pressure within the Silencer insert can be controlled by z.
- the at least one with cooling medium Sub-area that can be acted upon with an adjacent sub-area is connected that the cooling medium after flowing through a portion leaves this in the other section.
- a silencer insert segmented in the axial direction when feeding of the exhaust gas and the cooling medium at the same end of the muffler be that the axially arranged segments in succession from the cooling medium are flowable. Cooling of all segments of the silencer insert can be reached.
- Insulation material is thermally less stressed, which also costs can be saved by, for example, inexpensive insulation materials can be used.
- a cylindrical muffler 10 is shown on which concentrically an exhaust gas supply pipe 12 at one end and at the opposite end Exhaust gas discharge pipe 16 are arranged. Is on the exhaust gas supply side a cooling air supply pipe 14 is also arranged radially outward.
- the Exhaust muffler 10 has a centrally arranged exhaust pipe 20, wherein in an annulus between the exhaust pipe 20 and an exhaust wall 34 of the Muffler 10 introduced a silencer insert 18 from a molded element is.
- the shaped element has a shell element 36, into which a mixture is introduced from glass fiber yarn.
- Exhaust gas becomes exhaust gas via the exhaust gas supply pipe 12 supplied by an internal combustion engine, not shown, through which Exhaust muffler 10 passed and derived via the exhaust pipe 16.
- a cooling medium is in the cooling air supply pipe 14 In case of air, introduced into the muffler. The air also flows through the Muffler 10 and is together with the exhaust gas on the Exhaust gas discharge pipe 16 derived.
- Fig. 2 shows a side view of the one used in the muffler 10 Silencer insert 18.
- the Muffler insert 18 has an axial segmentation.
- an unsegmented silencer insert can also be used.
- the Muffler insert 18 here has a cylindrical sleeve element 36, which with a concentrically arranged through opening 38 for the Exhaust pipe 20 is provided.
- a cylindrical sleeve element 36 which with a concentrically arranged through opening 38 for the Exhaust pipe 20 is provided.
- separating elements 30 are arranged. These separating elements 30 are in flowable in the axial direction.
- Cooling air 24 is displaced radially outward. Cooling air 24 and exhaust gas flow through the muffler insert 18 in the axial direction. During the axial flow, part of the cooling air is permanently passed through redirected the silencer insert radially inwards. This derived cooling air collects in the passage opening 38 and is together with the exhaust gas directed to the exit of the silencer insert 18. The remaining axial Cooling air flow flows through the flowable separating elements 30, so that the axially downstream segments can also be cooled. On the downstream side At the end, the exhaust gas flow and the cooling air flow are together in the Through opening 38 out. The upper part of this silencer insert 18th is therefore less thermally stressed, so that adjacent to this area thermally sensitive components can be arranged.
- Figure 3 shows a further embodiment of a cylindrical Muffler insert 28, which is also a through opening 38 for a Exhaust pipe of a muffler, not shown, and a casing element 36 has. Is between the sleeve member 36 and the through hole 38 An annular separating element 40 is arranged concentrically. This is also here Separator 40 can be flowed through. However, the separating element can also be used 40 can not be designed to flow through, for example, to the exhaust gas flow from To separate the coolant flow. For example, a separate cooling circuit be formed.
- an exhaust gas stream 22 is in the silencer insert 28 initiated. This flows through the muffler insert 28 and is called Gas stream 26 discharged from the muffler insert 28. Radially outwards nitrogen gas 24 is added to an outer ring segment of the Silencer insert 28 initiated. As with that shown in Figure 2 Here, too, a part of the coolant flow is radially downstream of the silencer insert diverted to through opening 38 on the inside. This flows through it cylindrical separator 40. The derived coolant collects in the Through opening 38 and is together with the gas stream 26 from the Silencer insert 28 rejected.
- the separating element 40 has a controlling property by increasing its flowability with increasing temperature of the Muffler insert 28 increased. At a low temperature that is Flow-through capacity reduced since only little coolant is required. At a high load with high temperature, however, increases Flow through the separating element 40, so that the cooling effect by the increased coolant flow is increased. So the coolant demand can actual requirements can be adjusted.
