Definitions
- the present invention relates to a hearing aid with a radio interface for receiving radio signals from signal sources and converting the radio signals into acoustic signals and a memory device for storing address data with respect to one of the signal sources. Moreover, the present invention relates to a corresponding method. More particularly, the present invention relates to a method of individually selecting communication links for Bluetooth transmission systems in hearing aid applications.
- a hearing aid with a microphone means for signal processing and a handset and a method for operating a digital hearing aid is known, wherein the hearing aid has a digital input.
- the digital input can be switched on via a changeover switch. This allows signals from a CD player or DAT recorder or radio signals to be loaded into the hearing aid.
- a hearing aid which comprises a hand-portable control device and a further portable device on the ear. Signals are transmitted to the hand-portable device via radio and are also transmitted by radio to the ear-portable device. Different channels are defined for the radio link to the controller. On the portable handheld controller, a keyboard is arranged, via which a selection between different channels can take place. In one embodiment, a priority is assigned to the individual channels via the keyboard.
- a wireless alarm / communication system for the hard of hearing in which on the one hand radio and television and on the other hand a telephone, a bell, an alarm clock or a baby alarm is receivable.
- radio and television and on the other hand a telephone, a bell, an alarm clock or a baby alarm is receivable.
- Bluetooth connections are used between multiple signal sources and a control unit. In addition, they are used between the control unit and a hearing aid.
- headsets headsets
- wireless transmission systems are used in particular according to the Bluetooth standard to replace uncomfortable cable connections to other communication interfaces.
- a hearing aid can be equipped with a wireless transmission interface according to the Bluetooth standard and thus be used as a universal communication interface.
- a Bluetooth interface is usually suitable for establishing point-to-point and point-to-multipoint transmissions.
- a prerequisite for the construction of the transmission link is to recognize the currently available Bluetooth transceiver based on their characteristic addresses and to be able to select these if necessary. This generally requires a complex user interface with keyboard and display elements. In this way, a Bluetooth transceiver can selectively communicate with certain Bluetooth communication interfaces. For an interface integrated in a hearing aid, however, such operating and display elements are not available.
- the headsets log in to a fixed and once stored address, so that a well-defined point-to-point connection can be made for example to a mobile phone.
- the storage of this address can be achieved, for example, by placing the headset in the immediate vicinity of the desired transmitter and pressing a push button on the headset.
- the object of the present invention is therefore to propose a hearing aid and a corresponding method, with which the communication with a plurality of communication interfaces is facilitated.
- this object is achieved by a hearing aid according to claim 1.
- the wearer of a hearing device to store the addresses of several signal sources in advance or dynamically as required and to establish a corresponding communication connection on the basis of the address list.
- the address management is priority driven, so that the individual needs of the hearing aid wearer can be better met.
- the selection of the signal source can be done manually or automatically.
- a special transmitter in a room may be provided for switching the hearing device in this room into a specific hearing program or to a specific signal source.
- a hearing aid 1 which receives radio signals from a plurality of transmitters 2, 3, 4.
- a radio receiver which preferably contains a Bluetooth interface 5, registers all the radio signals and forwards them to a converter 6.
- the addresses of possible transmitter or signal sources 2, 3, 4 are stored and each provided with a priority.
- the addresses and / or priorities may be input to the hearing aid through an input unit 8.
- the converter 6 decides which of the signals sent by the signal sources 2, 3, 4 in the hearing device 1 must be converted into an acoustic signal for an output unit 9.
- a manual selection of the signal source may be provided, for example via a key switch.
- a Bluetooth transmission system consists of a high frequency part of the analog front-end coupled to a digital baseband part.
- the various layers of the Bluetooth communication model are generally implemented by using appropriate software implementations on a processor system.
- the uppermost layer represents the application layer, in which on the one hand the functionalities of the system are defined, on the other hand the mechanism for the identification of the addresses of the communication partners is realized.
- the above-mentioned priority-driven address management system knows several addresses of signal sources and thus allows optional communication with multiple interfaces. For example, if there are possibilities for storing three addresses, the two highest priority addresses could be stored by the acoustician in the hearing aid programming in the first two memory positions (eg for telephone and television). The third location on the other hand, it could be assigned dynamically to the operation of a push-button switch, as is customary for headset applications. With a firm allocation of priorities, the hearing aid system can communicate with given reachability with the communication interface, which currently has the highest priority.
- the hearing aid wearer may be notified by an audible signal of this signal reception, e.g. B. from a phone to be alerted.
- the hearing aid wearer could then sequentially select between the communication partner identified by the addresses using the above-mentioned key switch.
- the sound levels to the respective signals could be adjusted to the priorities of the signal sources automatically or via the key switch.
- the present invention thus advantageously allows the use of an address list with a prioritization and different methods for address assignment for extending the communication capability of a Bluetooth interface in hearing aids.
