Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a sock comprising at least an area formed of a clad knit comprising a ground yarn and at least one cladding thread.
  • socks is to be understood in this description and in the appended claims as a generic term for any type of hosiery and includes in particular next to socks in the strict sense, knee socks and stockings.
  • Plating is a technique for producing knitted fabric in which two different kinds of threads, namely the ground thread and the plating thread, are processed in the same knitting system such that one of these threads is on the right side of all the stitches and the other thread is on the left side of the fabric Mesh comes.
  • a sock at least in part, of a clad knit comprising a ground yarn and a plating yarn, the cladding yarn being underclad, i. lies on the inside of the base thread, so that the ground thread covers the mesh legs of the right Plattierfadenmaschen.
  • the plating thread can be used to increase the elasticity or the durability of the inner-clad knitted fabric.
  • AU 24979 88 A discloses a sock having the features of the preamble of claim 1.
  • GB 545 154 A discloses a sock which is continuously knitted from a basic thread of wool, silk, artificial silk or cotton and provided in the toe and / or heel area with a plating of a reinforcing thread formed of linen or cotton fibers ,
  • the present invention has for its object to provide a sock of the type mentioned, which has an increased durability in use.
  • the solution according to the invention is thus based on the concept of plating a resistant material, namely a textured synthetic fiber, on the outer side of the base thread so that in use of the sock the outwardly plated plating thread is in contact with the surroundings of the sock, for example in contact with a sock Shoe, get the increased abrasion resistance of the Material of the plating yarn thus comes fully to fruition and the underlying ground thread is better protected against abrasion or even chafing.
  • a resistant material namely a textured synthetic fiber
  • the outside of the base thread is the side of the base thread facing the outside of the finished sock
  • the inside of the base thread is the side of the base thread facing the inside of the finished sock.
  • the outer plating with the chemical fiber increases the durability of the sock.
  • the inner ground thread is spared and thus gets a longer life.
  • the bleaching of the sock is prevented or at least delayed because the prone to fading background thread is protected by the outwardly plated chemical fiber.
  • the durability of the sock is enhanced by the fact that the cladding thread comprises a textured chemical fiber.
  • the plating thread comprises a synthetic synthetic fiber, for example polyamide, polyester, polyacrylic and / or polypropylene.
  • Particularly preferred is the use of a plating thread of a textured polyamide fiber.
  • the basic thread comprises a natural fiber, in particular cotton and / or wool.
  • the plating yarn may have the same diameter or smaller diameter than the ground yarn.
  • the plating yarn has a larger diameter than the ground yarn, so that the ground yarn is completely covered by the outer plating yarn.
  • the clad knitted fabric comprises a further cladding thread which lies on the inside of the base thread, that is to say inwardly plated or In other words, it is underplated.
  • the additional plating thread placed on the inside of the base thread may comprise a hydrophobic material to promote moisture wicking away from the inner side of the sock contacting the wearer's skin.
  • Such a clad knitted fabric thus comprises at least two plating threads in addition to the main thread.
  • the durability of the sock is most effectively increased if the areas most stressed during use of the sock are formed of the outer clad knitted fabric.
  • the cladded region of the sock formed from the clad knitted fabric comprises the tip region and / or the high heel region and / or the over-heel region of the sock.
  • the plating yarn may be color-matched with the ground yarn to make the outer-clad portion of the sock and the non-clad portion or only the inner-clad portion of the sock match each other in color.
  • the background thread and the plating thread differ in color, which ensures that the outer-plated area of the sock is color-wise offset from the non-plated area or the only inner-plated area of the sock.
  • a sock indicated as a whole by 100 in FIG. 1, comprises a foot region 102 and a shaft region 104, which is provided at its upper end with an elastic waistband 106.
  • the sock 100 is continuously knitted from a basic thread 108 (see Fig. 3), which is preferably formed from a natural fiber, for example cotton.
  • the main thread 108 is provided with a plating thread 118 (see FIG. 3), which is formed of a chemical fiber, for example of textured polyamide, and is located on the outside of the base thread 108.
  • the region of the sock 100 comprising the tip region 110, the sole region 116, the heel region 112 and the high heel region 114 is thus formed from an outer-plated knit fabric 120, which is illustrated by the hatched area in FIG. 1 and forms a contiguous plating region 121 of the sock 100 ,
  • the externally plated knit fabric 120 is formed as a right / left knit from the backseam 108 in which the plating yarn 118 covers the knit legs of the right groundstitch stitches.
  • the main thread 108 covers the knit legs of the right plait thread stitches.
  • the sock 100 is preferably made on a circular knitting machine, wherein the main thread 108 and the plating thread 118 are processed in the same knitting system.
  • the outer plating of the base thread 108 of the outer-pleated knit fabric 120 with a textured synthetic chemical fiber, such as textured polyamide, increases the durability of the sock.
  • the natural fiber used as the basic thread 108 is spared and thereby obtains a longer life.
  • the increased durability of the outer clad knitted fabric 120 can be detected by means of a Martindale abrasion tester.
  • the durability of the fabric is thus significantly increased by the outer plating with the textured polyamide material, namely approximately doubled.
  • the wearing comfort of the sock 100 is enhanced by the fact that the natural fiber used as the ground thread 108 is disposed on the inside of the plated knit fabric 120 and thus rests on the skin of the wearer.
  • the sock 100 may further be provided to additionally provide the outer-plated knit fabric 120 and / or the non-outer-clad portion of the sock 100 with an inner cladding. wherein the ground thread 108 is plated with another plating thread lying on the inside of the ground thread 108.
