Definitions

  • the subject of the present invention is a mattress comprising at least one layer of foam.
  • Such mattresses are for example produced by means of a machine of the type described in US 5,974,994.
  • two stitches adjacent seams are advantageously spaced 0.3 mm apart 10mm, preferably 0.4-0.8mm, especially about 0.5mm.
  • the layer of viscoelastic foam has a thickness of at least at least 2 cm, advantageously at least 4 cm, preferably at least 6 cm.
  • the first fabric or the second fabric is elastic for do not lose or reduce the viscoelastic characteristics and properties of the foam.
  • the first fabric or the second fabric has at least one higher elasticity than that of the viscoelastic foam layer.
  • the first fabric and the second fabric of the mattresses are elastic fabrics, of equal or different elasticity, in particular of same elasticity ..
  • the first elastic fabric has an elasticity greater than that viscoelastic foam.
  • the first elastic fabric is a fabric able to undergo maximum elastic deformation by traction in two directions planes perpendicular to each other, this maximum elastic deformation by tissue traction being greater than the maximum viscoelastic deformation of the layer of viscoelastic foam. This makes it possible to conserve the viscoelastic properties of the viscoelastic foam layer.
  • the second fabric is a flexible fabric having a elasticity equal or different to that of the first fabric, in particular of the foam viscoelastic, preferably less than that of the first fabric, in particular of the layer of viscoelastic foam.
  • the first fabric and / or the second fabric may if necessary have an elasticity variable, i.e. part of which has a different elasticity than that from another party.
  • the mattress has zones compressed, one or more compressed areas being in a state of compression such the thickness of the foam in the compressed area is less than 75%, advantageously less than 50%, preferably 10 to 50% of the thickness of the foam before compression.
  • the viscoelastic foam is advantageously perforated by means of one or needles with rounded tip. Such a perforation has the advantage of reducing the number of tear starts.
  • the mattress has lines of seam formed from adjacent sewing stitches, said stitches being made with a spacing such as density of adjacent and successive stitch stitches per unit length is at least 10 stitches per 10 cm of seam line, advantageously from 10 to 50 stitches per 10 cm of seam line.
  • the distance between two successive sewing stitches is advantageously included between 0.3 and 1 cm, preferably between 0.4 and 0.8 cm, in particular about 0.5 cm.
  • the layer of viscoelastic foam is for example a polyether foam, particularly polyurethane, density (uncompressed state) of between 25 kg / m 3 and 100kg / m 3, preferably from 40kg / m 3 to 70kg / m 3.
  • the foam is open or closed cells, but preferably open or substantially open cells.
  • Such a layer of foam is for example made of polyurethane, and is open cells.
  • the layer which may or may not be of the variable thickness type, or of the type with peak and recess is advantageously a layer of thickness approximately constant from about 4 to 6 cm.
  • Such viscoelastic layers are, for example, but advantageously, "EUCATHERM C” ® layers, for example TC50-H; TC50-M and TC50-W marketed by KABELWERK EUPEN AG.
  • This layer of viscoelastic foam 1 is connected to two elastic fabrics 2,3, said fabrics 2,3 having an elasticity greater than that of foam 1.
  • the 2,3 fabrics are sewn together with interposition of layer 1.
  • the stitches seam 4 are made using rounded head needles. These stitches 4 form seam lines 4A, 4B.
  • the stitches of a line are arranged in relation to each other so that the distance between two successive sewing stitches, approximately 5mm. Too many sewing stitches close together damage the viscoelastic foam, while sewing too far apart does not ensure good tracking of the fabric relative to the foam viscoelastic.
  • the elastic fabrics 2,3 which can have the same elasticity or different elasticities.
  • These fabrics are for example made of stretch fabrics, such as Nicky-stretch, terry fabric, jersey fabric, knitted fabric, etc. ; in lattice fabric, woven such as woven with crossed threads, plain woven or taffeta, satin, etc., fabrics provided with a coating, for example a coating in polyurethane, threaded fabric, synthetic leather, natural leather, composite fabric, membrane, etc.
  • the fabrics are made of synthetic, natural, mineral, or a mixture of these.
  • the fabrics are made of cotton, polyester, elastomer, viscose, nylon, mixtures thereof, for example a cotton / polyester blend, for example 75% cotton / 25% polyester, 70% cotton / 30% polyester. It is also possible to use materials such as Scotchgard, Hydrofoil, Medicott, Sanfor, CS-armature (caseine), etc., and mixtures of these. These fabrics have sufficient longitudinal and axial elongation characteristics to take up the deformations or hollows in the foam layer 1.
  • the fabrics are capable of correctly following the foam layer.
  • the fabrics have an elastic elongation of at least 15%, in particular of at least 25%, advantageously of at least 50%, preferably both in the longitudinal direction of the fabric and both in the axial direction of the fabric.
  • the elastic fabrics 2,3 are advantageously sewn with the foam layer in an unstretched or substantially unstretched state, that is to say so that the fabrics 2,3 generate an elastic force on the foam or between points of sewing which is a function of the crushing of the foam at the sewing points and / or the swelling of the crushed foam after sewing.
  • This slight elastic stretch ensures that the fabrics 2,3 correctly follow the movements of the viscoelastic foam when using the mattress, for example when compressing the viscoelastic foam, as well as when it is returned to a state less compression.
  • the elastic fabrics 2,3 are stretched elastically from 0 to 50%, by example of less than 15%, or according to another example of more than 15%, advantageously more than 20%, preferably 25 to 50% in at least one direction extending between two adjacent seam lines, for example in a direction of which at least one component is substantially perpendicular to the two adjacent seam lines.
  • the fabrics 2,3 are stretched or slightly stretched (when making sewing stitches) by relative to their stable or unstretched state, with a sufficient stretching rate so that compressed position of the viscoelastic foam between the seam lines, the 2,3 fabrics located between said seam lines are always under a slight elastic tension. (see figure 3)
  • the mattress shown in Figure 1 is for example manufactured in the manner next :
  • a layer of foam is placed on a tray and between two elastic fabrics 2,3 viscoelastic 1.
  • Tissues 2,3 are not subjected to axial and longitudinal stretching.
  • sewing stitches are made (stitching in tray) to associate the tissues 2,3 with each other, with the interposition of the layer of viscoelastic foam.
  • These sewing stitches are made using a needle with rounded head so as not to damage the layer of viscoelastic foam and the elastic fabrics.
  • These sewing points advantageously define one or more several lines, preferably a network of touching seam lines or that intersect.
  • the elastic fabrics 2,3 are then slightly stretched by the swelling of the viscoelastic foam and by maintaining crushed parts of viscoelastic foam at the stitches.
  • the distance between two points of successive sewing is set between 3 mm and 10 mm, with a preference for about 5mm.
  • a machine of the type described in document US Pat. needles with rounded heads are used to make sewing lines (continuous stitching), and the distance between two successive sewing points is 0.5 cm.
  • the elastic fabrics it is advantageous for the elastic fabrics to be in direct contact with the layer of viscoelastic foam.
  • the restoring force of the elastic fabrics (caused by stretching of the latter) is less than the expansion force of the compressed viscoelastic foam.
  • the compressed parts of the viscoelastic foam are obtained thanks to the stitches and the degree of compression of the foam at the place of sewing at the time of sewing.
  • FIG. 4 shows a mattress sewn in the form of a cover, for example adapted to receive a cushion.
  • the mattress according to the invention finds numerous applications or uses, for example in bedding, hospital mattresses, baby mattresses, mattress cover, cushion cover, seat cover (e.g. from car), protective layer (for example to protect objects during their transport), ergonomic cushion, extra mattress, anti-decubitus mattress, mattress acoustic absorbent, thermal insulating mattress, packaging, mattress allowing better blood circulation or better sleep, etc.
  • One or the elastic fabrics can be made of an impermeable material or not.
  • the mattress according to the invention therefore finds applications in orthopedics, in medicine, acoustics, energy, shock absorption, etc.
  • the foam viscoelastic has a variable hardness depending on the temperature and by a very low resilience, allowing very high absorption of energy from deformation.
  • the foam advantageously has a thermovariability, so that the foam compressed by a human body first opposes a certain resistance, this resistance decreasing to become very low once the foam temperature is around 37 ° C.
  • the layer viscoelastic can be profiled, for example to present hollows and peaks. However, given the properties of the foam, the presence of such hollows or peaks is not absolutely necessary, except very specific application.
  • the layer of viscoelastic foam can be provided with a frame or an inner mesh, advantageously flexible or deformable, for example for give and maintain a particular shape to the mattress.
