- the invention relates to a postal system with one or more franking machines for printing franking indexes on postal items and with a postal service Delivery of postal items.
- the invention further relates to a franking machine for Printing of franking indicia on mail, a label for removable Attachment to a piece of mail and a tracking and tracing method Monitoring or for tracking and tracing a piece of mail.
- a postal system with a carrier for the delivery of mail and one Franking machine are described in DE 197 33 605 A1.
- an identity certificate is generated by the franking machine, which Information about the corresponding piece of mail, such as the required one Includes fee and shipping parameters.
- the certificate of identity is preferred printed on a self-adhesive label, which is glued to the piece of mail becomes.
- the information contained in the identity certificate can then be obtained from the Carriers can be used for delivery and billing purposes by the Data from the identity certificate in a data center of the carrier before the Delivery of the piece of mail can be read.
- an identity code for the piece of mail can be included in the identity certificate, optionally in readable form or as a barcode, which is used to search for a piece of mail in the Case of shipping errors can be used.
- Postal services especially postal authorities and private carriers, want one Possibility of tracking and monitoring or tracking and tracing for offer certain classes of mail. It is desired that some form the identification of pieces of mail is provided, e.g. that a barcode in printed in any way during the creation of the franking index can. This identification should be used to provide a way to Create tracking and surveillance for certain classes of mail. It it is clear that a barcode is to the left of the franking index or somewhere is otherwise printed on the envelope, is not accepted, especially not from the postal authorities. This is because they have a large number of postmen that are not equipped with hand scanners like the private carriers.
- the present invention is therefore based on the object of a postal system create what a way of tracking and monitoring for pieces Postgut offers. Furthermore, a franking machine for use in such a Postal system and a method for tracking and monitoring a piece Postal goods are created.
- a label is attached to the piece of mail, e.g. a letter attached which contains a kind of identity code, e.g. a barcode information that one or more pieces of mail are identified.
- This label will appear on the letter attached to the sending, for example during the franking process, and is removed from the letter and placed on a separate sheet of paper after the Delivery of the letter placed.
- the identity code is read when the Carrier returns to the local post office, e.g. using one of the Barcord reading scanner. He can then be used for doctrine purposes Surveillance can be used, for example by adding a message to the Is sent to the sender who informs him of the delivery.
- one or more reading means can be used one or more delivery stations are provided for reading the Identity codes in order to monitor the exact path of the piece of mail to enable. This enables the sender to constantly check where his piece of mail is just appearing, making tracking and surveillance easier, if any piece of mail is lost during delivery.
- Storage media can be used to store all pieces of postal items during the Store delivery in a large database, on which of the Carrier and, if required, the sender or his local post office can be accessed.
- the identity codes are preferred in the form of bar codes on self-adhesive Printed labels that can be easily removed without the surface or the Destroy envelope of the piece of mail.
- a franking machine according to the invention is claimed in claim 6. This is designed in such a way that it has means for printing franking indicia Mail and for printing identity codes on labels. Prefers are these steps in the franking machine designed as a compact unit executed simultaneously or sequentially. It can also be provided that the Means for printing the identity codes on the labels in a simple manner existing franking machines can be combined. Further it is advantageous that the franking machine is designed such that it does not only prints identity codes on labels, but also the labels on the Pieces of mail attached.
- a label according to the invention is claimed in claim 9. This label is designed such that it is easily attachable to and removable from one piece Postage is and that it is used in a franking machine according to the invention can be.
- a method according to the invention for tracking and monitoring mail is claimed in claim 10, which according to subclaims 11 to 13 can be trained.
- FIG. 1 shows a block diagram of a postal system according to the invention.
- This postal system comprises a central postal service 1, where all pieces of mail collected, sorted and distributed to carriers 5, 6, 7 who are to the Postal service 1 belong to or work with him and the pieces of mail to distribute.
- the postal system also has franking machines 2, 3, 4, where pieces Postage can be franked in the usual way and where franking indices for one Class Postgut can be printed on the Postgut.
- a label can be made by placing the required identity code on the label is printed in the form of a bar code which is used for tracking and Monitoring includes. After that, the label can be printed automatically or manually on the appropriate piece of mail 8 are attached and thrown into the mailbox from where it is transported to the central postal service 1, as by Arrows 16 is indicated.
- the postal service 1 has reading means 13 for reading the identity code and Storage means for storing the identity codes read from pieces of mail in a database for tracking and surveillance purposes. After that the pieces of mail are transported to several conveyors 5, 6, 7 (arrows 9), from where they are finally delivered to the addressees 17 (arrows 10). While the piece of mail 8 can be delivered to several stations of carriers 6, 7 run through before it reaches the addressee.
- the label 84 with the printed bar code from the piece of mail item 8 removed and sent back to the central postal service 1 via the same or another way like the piece of mail 8 (arrows 11).
- This can be done simply by doing so that all labels 84 are applied to one or more sheets of paper and be transported back to postal service 1.
- Barcodes of these labels are read and used to send a message to the Send sender 2, 3, 4 (arrows 12) back to him about the successful Delivery of his piece of Postgut 8 informed.
- the central Database of storage means 14 the corresponding identity code as delivered marked and / or deleted immediately or after a time delay.
- one or more carriers 5, 6, 7 with reading means 15 are equipped to read the identity codes during delivery of the Postage to register and deliver each station during delivery monitor. Immediate feedback can also be sent to postal service 1 and, if required to be sent back to senders 2, 3, 4.
- the postal system makes it possible to store pieces of mail during and Track and monitor after delivery. It can be provided that every single piece of mail is clearly printed on the label Has an identity code which can be used in the event of a shipping error to look for it.
- a piece of mail 8 with a label 84 according to the Invention is shown in Fig. 2.
- the envelope has a window 80 for the address of the recipient of the mail, a franking index 81 with a two-dimensional Barcode with billing information and a banner 83 for private or Advertising purposes.
- label 84 and bar code 85 shown are only examples, but are generally dependent on a standard that chosen by the postal authority and / or the carrier using these labels can be. It is also not necessary to use barcodes.
- the Identity code can be in any other, preferably machine-readable, form applied to the label. It can also be provided that the Identity code in cryptified form is applied to the label.
- a "standard code 128" or any other standard can be used as the barcode become.
- a simple tracking number that determines the number of digits is all that is required for the application, so no There is a requirement for a two-dimensional barcode, but it is also can be used if more information is contained in the identity code should be.
- FIG. 3 A franking machine according to the invention is shown in FIG. 3.
- This franking machine 2 has a separate unit 21 with a standard franking machine can be combined and used to print the identity codes on labels and for attaching the labels to the pieces of postage 8 after their franking is designed in the usual way.
- the franking machines according to the invention can be an adhesive tape unit exhibit.
- the franking machine creates a franking index for one Class of postal matter, subject to a need for tracking and surveillance is covered, and prints the evidence on the letter.
- the franking machine initiates immediately print a label that contains the requested barcode with the Operation of tracking and surveillance contains. If twenty letters in the Feeder unit would be a barcode for tracking and surveillance would require a franked letter followed by a barcode label see. This process would be repeated until all of the mail was processed would.
- Information on whether a barcode is required for tracking and surveillance is for a special letter could be from one coupled to the franking machine Libra are coming. Alternatively, the information could be directly from a keyboard of the Postage meter can be entered if there is no scale. The customer the appropriate barcode label would then be attached to the assigned piece of mail If the postage meter machine is not designed, attach it automatically to do.
- This feature requires the implementation of a special label stock. It probably consists of a reinforcement sheet, the glue on both sides having. One side would be attached to the letter and the other side to the Label itself.
- the adhesive material that is attached to the label must be strong enough to go through ordinary mail processing systems at the same time allow the person delivering the mail to simply pull it off and to be attached to the requested sheet for later scanning.
- An alternative to This approach would be something like a "Post It Note" label stock to use. In this case it must be ensured that this label would not go off during normal postal system processing.
