Definitions
- the invention relates to an application device for self-adhesive labels without carrier material according to the preamble of claim 1 and a method for Applying such labels to a product according to the preamble of Claim 11.
- a material web is first produced, one side of which is a Has adhesive layer and the other side by means of a printing device is printable.
- This material web is usually wound up into a roll that the Handling of the self-adhesive material web and its storage easier.
- the self-adhesive material web on the side of the adhesive layer with a web of carrier material covered.
- This backing material web makes it necessary, however, that after printing one Section of the self-adhesive material web, which later forms a single label and before applying this section to a product, the carrier material web from the adhesive layer is removed.
- the known devices Applying or applying self-adhesive labels to products an in Feed direction of the self-adhesive material web arranged after the printing unit Dissolving unit that separates the backing material web from the self-adhesive material web replaces.
- Self-adhesive labels have been free of carrier material in the recent past Self-adhesive labels, also known as linerless labels, have been developed Service.
- the self-adhesive material web provided for this type of label has even in the state rolled up into a roll, no carrier material layer more that covers the adhesive layer of the self-adhesive material web.
- the Use of such a material makes it necessary that the printable side of the material web has such a property that the individual layers of the material web wound into a roll stick together.
- WO 97/05 021 which represents the closest prior art goes an application device and an application method for non-carrier material Self-adhesive labels that are to be applied to envelopes.
- the drive motor for the label web is set in motion to the next label to be arranged between a stationary knife and a movable knife.
- a command to prevent actuation of a label holding member is issued output.
- the movable knife is operated to separate the label from the remaining portion of the label web.
- the valve provided for driving the movable knife is used for actuated a total of 25 ms. From the start of capturing the leading edge of the next The document to be pasted has already passed 12 ms. That the Actuation of the label holding member preventing signal is also from the Time of detection of the leading edge of the next document to be pasted output for 28 ms. In other words, a cutting process already takes place 16 ms before the signal to prevent actuation of the Label holding element lifted and this element is started. The movable knife has already cut through the label before that Recording element is ever moved in the direction of the label web.
- the adhesive label is first pushed horizontally and through a Detected holding element which is arranged below the label web.
- the label is held by vacuum.
- An application unit is then moved to the holding element, air into the Blown inside of the holding member to close the label from the holding member release and then the label through the application unit using suction air detected.
- the application unit then moves to the one to be provided with the label Product and bring it up there.
- the Application unit heated by supplying electricity, so that only at this time the glue is activated.
- an application device is also included Application procedure for self-adhesive labels without carrier material at the beginning mentioned type.
- a separation unit and one in the feed direction the self-adhesive material web arranged after the separating unit application unit intended.
- the application unit detects the self-adhesive label on its adhesive-free Side and apply it to the product. This is the self-adhesive label first separated from the material web by the separating unit and then this detached self-adhesive label is detected by the application unit.
- blowing nozzles provided on a lower knife of the separation unit.
- This Blow nozzles blow the separated self-adhesive label against the application unit, which then detects and holds this by means of a suction force.
- the prerequisite is that the blow nozzles the separated self-adhesive label to the same extent blow against the application unit. For example, is a blow nozzle blocked or If one Elas nozzle has a higher blowing pressure than the others, this can happen move the separated label in its position and possibly no longer from the Application unit can be detected.
- this known device several handling processes - separation by the separation unit, bubbles against the application unit by the blowing device and detection by the application unit -necessary so that a single self-adhesive label is grasped by the application unit becomes.
- another application device is derived from US Pat. No. 2,492,908 as well as an application method, wherein a holding device is provided, which is arranged below the material web.
- a holding device is provided, which is arranged below the material web.
- this piece of material web that is still to be separated is removed from the Holding device detected.
- the separated and label still on this holding device by the actual one Application head detected and applied by this to the product.
- this is known device or this known method little suitable for Self-adhesive labels without backing material, because the adhesive side of the material web or a single label comes into contact with the holding device.
- the application unit moves from a starting position for example above the self-adhesive material web and in which the Self-adhesive material web is not detectable by the application unit in a Detection position in which the corresponding one before the disconnection Self-adhesive label-forming section of the self-adhesive material web is detectable, and from there it can be reversibly moved into an application position in which the separate self-adhesive label can be applied to a product.
- the detection and holding of the detached self-adhesive label can be different Wise. It has proven advantageous if the Application unit by means of a vacuum the self-adhesive label on the none Side with adhesive layer, i.e. the printable side and until Keeps applying to a product.
- the detached self-adhesive label only to hold point by suction.
- the application of the self-adhesive label is made easier if the application unit has the self-adhesive label holds in a flat form, i.e. if the application unit has a holding surface for holding the detached self-adhesive label. So that the Self-adhesive label does not have folds and the like applied to the product it also proved to be expedient if the surface area of the Holding area at least the same, preferably larger than the area of the Self-adhesive labels is.
- the application unit Around the self-adhesive label captured by the application unit on the product it is necessary to apply the product either to the Self-adhesive label or the application unit with the self-adhesive label for that Product moves. Basically, a wide variety of movements can be performed be carried out.
- the application unit an essentially vertical axis from a detection position, in the corresponding section of the self-adhesive material web before the separation has been detected, reversibly pivotable into an application position in which the self-adhesive label is applied to the product.
- the application unit together with the detected self-adhesive label approximately reversible perpendicular to the surface area of the self-adhesive material web is movable.
- one of the products to be glued provided continuously or discontinuously conveying conveyor above which the application unit is arranged.
- the application unit can be vertical to the feed direction of the self-adhesive material web or approximately perpendicular to the surface area of the self-adhesive material web be moved.
- the movement the application unit begins before the product is completely below the Application unit is arranged There is also the possibility that the movements of the product or the application unit in time respectively.
- the control of the motion sequences both by a program and by appropriate sensors, such as light barriers.
- the one for separating a single self-adhesive label from the self-adhesive material web provided separation unit can be used to carry out the separation process have their own drive.
- a corresponding control for the separation unit which controls the individual movements the separation unit and the application unit are coordinated with one another. Is opposite the separation unit can be driven by the application unit, so this does not only one drive unit saved, but also for the coordination of the Movement between these two units necessary control device.
- the separation process can be achieved in a simple manner that the Separation unit attached to the application unit and with this approximately vertically is movable to the self-adhesive material web.
- the separation unit itself can again have a wide variety of configurations exhibit.
- a separation unit is usually by at least one upper knife and at least one lower knife, one of which is movable, whereas the other is fixed. With a separation unit constructed in this way it has proven to be advantageous if the upper knife passes through the application unit is controllable and / or drivable. There is also the possibility that the Upper knife directly or indirectly on the application unit and in particular there at the front end in the feed direction of the self-adhesive material web the application unit is attached.
- the application unit for example, lowered, the upper knife, which is attached to the application unit in such a way that it Transverse movement of the application unit in contact with the self-adhesive material web arrives after the application unit has detected the self-adhesive material web in Contact with the self-adhesive material web and in cooperation with cut the self-adhesive material web from the bottom knife. Because the application unit in the feed direction of the self-adhesive material web behind the cutting unit already located section of the material web is after the Carrying out the separation process, the self-adhesive label thus obtained, separated held by the application unit. With the further lowering movement of the The applicator unit then applies the self-adhesive label to the product.
- the application unit at least reversibly movable approximately in the feed direction of the self-adhesive material web is. This prevents the self-adhesive label from being removed does not stick to the separation unit and / or the self-adhesive material web. is the application unit has been able to perform the above-mentioned movement in the case of a separation unit consisting of an upper and a lower knife as advantageous proven if the upper knife can be driven by the application unit and / or is controllable, but is not in contact with the application unit itself.
- the self-adhesive material can be used both as a flat sheet material and as one a roll of wound material is provided.
- the single drawing figure schematically shows a printing unit 10, one in Feed direction V of a self-adhesive material web, not shown of the printing unit 10 and a separating unit 20 arranged thereon Application unit 30 connecting feed direction V is provided.
- the printing unit 10 prints the self-adhesive material web in a known manner.
- the separation unit 20 consists of an upper knife 22 and a lower knife 24.
- the upper knife 22 can be attached to the application unit 30 in one of the following explained manner.
- the lower knife 24 is stationary attached to the frame of the printing unit 10, for example.
- the surfaces of the Upper knife 22, but in particular the lower knife 24, which is in contact with the Adhesive side of the self-adhesive material web have a coating, which prevent the self-adhesive material web from sticking to the separating unit 20.
- the upper knife 22 can be driven and / or driven by the application unit 30 can be controlled, the upper knife 22 not on the application unit 30 must be attached. In this case, the movement of the upper knife 22 of derived from the movement of the application unit 30, but the upper knife 22 stands not in direct contact with the application unit 30.
- the application unit 30 consists of a holding element 32, which is a Has holding surface 34.
- the holding surface 34 preferably has one Area that they are one of the self-adhesive material through the Separating unit 20 separated self-adhesive label, which is also no further is shown in such a way that the edge of the holding surface 34 that Self-adhesive label towers over.
- the application unit is for holding the self-adhesive label 30 with a suction device, also not shown, for Generate a negative pressure.
- the self-adhesive material web which are below the application unit 30, based on the arrangement of the single drawing figure, is arranged on which no adhesive layer Side, i.e. the side with one possibly made by the printing unit 10 Imprint, detected and held on the holding surface 34.
- the upper knife 22 projects downward over the holding surface 34 out. This removes a self-adhesive label from the self-adhesive material web, before the application unit 30 the conveying path of the self-adhesive material web crossed.
- the application unit 30 at least reversibly movable approximately in the feed direction V of the self-adhesive material web is to separate the self-adhesive label from the self-adhesive material web to support, it can also be provided that the upper knife 22 is driven and / or controlled by the application unit 30, but not on the application unit 30 is attached directly.
- the Application unit 30 in a direction perpendicular to the surface area of the Self-adhesive material web can be moved reversibly.
- the application unit takes 30 at least three positions.
- the application unit 30 is out of an inoperative position can be moved into a detection position in which the application unit 30 the self-adhesive material web located below the holding element 32 is detected.
- this can The upper knife already comes into contact with the self-adhesive material web. On However, cutting does not have to take place yet.
- the application unit 30 at least approximately in the feed direction V of the self-adhesive material web is reversibly movable to support this separation process.
- the upper knife 22 is only driven by the application unit 30 or controlled, but is not in contact with the application unit 30. From the Detection position is the holding element 32 of the application unit 30 in a Application position can be moved, in which the separated from the self-adhesive material web Self-adhesive label on a below the application unit 30, based on the only drawing figure, product P can be applied.
