Definitions
- the present invention relates to a grinding wheel available for cutting and grinding and more particularly to a grinding wheel for dispersing a force and maximizing efficiency in discharging chips and dispersing heat during cutting and grinding of an object, thereby maximizing cutting and grinding effect and lengthening a life of the device.
- the separate surface polishing and cutting grinding wheels should be displaced whenever necessary according to cutting and grinding works while performing abrasive work, thereby decreasing work efficiency.
- the grinding wheel is worn as it is used for machining the object, thus making it difficult to continuously carry out precision polishing.
- the grinding wheel may be warped during the cutting, thus making it difficult to cut a thin layer sharp.
- the cutting surface of an object should be polished again with the separate surface polishing grinding wheel after cutting the object.
- the above grinding wheel available for cutting and grinding comprises a folded protruding part at a center of the circular steel plate, a connecting hole at the center of the folded protruding part, and cutting saw edges along the outer circumference of the circular plate, the grinding wheel being steadily coated with abrasive diamond particles on its both surfaces.
- the grinding wheel according to the filed application overcomes those defects described above on the cutting and grinding of an object. However, this grinding wheel decreases in effects of dispersing force and heat and discharging chips during the cutting and grinding, thereby decreasing cutting and grinding efficiency and shortening a life of the device.
- the present invention is directed to a grinding wheel available for cutting and grinding that substantially obviates one or more of the limitations and disadvantages of the related art.
- An objective of the present invention is to provide a grinding wheel for cutting and grinding objects, maximizing cutting and grinding effects, and lengthening a life of the device.
- Another object of the present invention is to provide a grinding wheel available for cutting and grinding, wherein a cutting area of a cutting edge is relatively wider, compared with a known cutting edge, and an angle of a reentrant part between cutting edges becomes larger by considering mechanical design of the grinding wheel, thereby greatly enhancing cutting and grinding effect with respect to marble, F.R.P, glass, hard plastic, epoxy, ceramic, and the like.
- a grinding wheel available for cutting and grinding has a protruding part formed to be folded at a center of a circular plate, the protruding part having a connecting hole at its center, the circular plate having a plurality of through holes and a plurality of cutting edges around its circumference, the cutting edges being coated with diamond particles on their outer surfaces to form a cutting diamond coating layer, the circular plate being coated with diamond particles on its both sides to form a grinding diamond coating layer.
- the cutting edges of the circular plate each comprises a front side, a rear side, and a circumferential side, the front side being slant at an acute interior angle, the circumferential side being in the form of an arc, the cutting edge being 6 ⁇ 22mm in length and 2.5 ⁇ 12.6mm in height, a reentrant part between the cutting edges having an interior angle of 20 ⁇ 60 ⁇ , the grinding diamond coating layer on the top surface of the plate consisting of plural unit circular coating layers, the through hole and unit circular coating layer being formed to have a diameter of 2 ⁇ 12mm, the unit circular coating layers being spaced out 2mm.
- FIG. 1 is a plan view of a grinding wheel according to the present invention.
- FIG. 2 is a partial sectional elevation of a grinding wheel according to the present invention.
- FIG. 3 is a descriptive view showing an exemplary method of using a grinding wheel according to the present invention.
- FIG. 4 is a descriptive view showing an exemplary method of using a grinding wheel according to the present invention.
- a protruding part 2 is formed to be folded at the center of a circular plate 1.
- the protruding part 2 has a connecting hole 3 at its center.
- a plurality of through holes 5 are formed on the circular plate 1.
- a plurality of cutting edges 4 are formed along a circumference of the circular plate 1.
- Diamond particles are attached to outer faces of the cutting edges 4, forming a cutting diamond coating layer 6 and to the top surface of the circular plate 1, forming a grinding diamond coating layer 7.
- the cutting edge 4 of the circular plate 1 comprises a front side 4a, a rear side 4b, and a circumferential side 4c.
- the front side 4a is slant at an acute interior angle ⁇ .
- the rear side 4b is straight at a right angle.
- the circumferential side 4c is in the form of an arc.
- the cutting edge 4 is 6 ⁇ 22mm in length and 2.5 ⁇ 12.6mm in height.
- a reentrant part 8 between the cutting edges 4 of the circular plate 1 has an interior angle ⁇ of 20 ⁇ 60 ⁇ .
- Each through hole 5 on the circular plate 1 is shaped into a circle.
- the grinding diamond coating layer on the top surface of the plate consists of plural unit circular coating layers 7a.
- the through hole 5 and unit circular coating layer 7a are formed to have a diameter R of 2 ⁇ 12mm.
- the unit circular coating layers 7a are spaced out 2mm.
- the cutting edge 4 is formed to be 14mm in length and 6mm in height.
- the interior angle ⁇ of the reentrant part 8 is set at 35 ⁇ and the through hole 5 and unit circular coating layer 7a on the circular plate 1 are formed to have a diameter of 2 ⁇ 12mm.
- a grinding diamond coating layer 7b on the bottom surface of the plate 1 is located at three or more places (at regular intervals of 120 ⁇ or less), extending from the arc of cutting edges 4 thus being integrated with the cutting diamond coating layer 6 toward the center of the plate 1.
- the diamond coating layer 7b is tapered off as nearer to the center and is shaped into an arc at the end.
- the entire surface of the circular plate 1 may be coated with the grinding diamond coating layer 7b on the bottom surface.
- this causes problems in discharging chips. Therefore, it is preferable to form the grinding diamond coating layer 7b at regular intervals leaving some bottom space on the plate 1 not coated. In such manner, some parts not coated makes it possible to provide smooth chip discharge.
- the grinding wheel of the present invention is matched to a shift 11 of a hand grinder 10 with a locking member 12 as shown in FIG. 3.
- a cutting area is influenced by large force at cutting saw edges.
- the cutting edges 4 of the present invention realize wider cutting area, thereby dispersing the force to the cutting area when cutting an object using the grinding wheel according to the present invention.
- an angle between the cutting edges 4 and its shape are defined based upon a rotational frequency and force of the grinding wheel obtained through dynamic calculations, thereby maximizing effect of dispersing heat of about 400 ⁇ 600 ⁇ C. Namely, setting the angle and depth as shown in FIG. 1 maximizes the cutting effect.
- the grinding wheel is set to turn in direction A as shown in FIG. 1, thereby lengthening of life of tools and grinding wheel.
- the present invention forms the grinding diamond coating layer 7 as shown in FIG. 1 and FIG. 2, thereby maximizing effect of discharging chips and dispersing heat, making it possible to continuously perform the grinding work.
- the present invention also maintains an optimal state for dispersing heat and discharging chips even if the grinding wheel has been used for a long period time, thereby achieving grinding effect three to six times as higher as that in the conventional techniques.
- the grinding diamond coating layer is partially formed on the bottom surface of the grinding wheel. This leads to a difference in thickness of the grinding wheel, making it possible to change a grinding angle of the grinding wheel, thereby conveniently adjusting a work start point. This also minimizes load on the object, thereby speeding the work and lengthening the life of the grinding wheel.
- the present invention allows both cutting sides of the object to be fine processed.
- the present invention is available for cutting and grinding an object, disperses force during the cutting and grinding, and maximizes effect of discharging chips and dispersing heat, thereby maximizing cutting and grinding effect and lengthening a life of the grinding wheel.
- the present invention also allows the grinding wheel to work in both straight and curve lines.
