Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a chair, in particular an office swivel chair, with a height-adjustable seat surface and backrest which is adjustable in inclination, which is articulated in the plane of the seat surface in such a way that there is a fixed area for the thigh support and a swiveling area for the buttock results.
  • the upholstery of the seat extends from the front edge beyond the swivel axis.
  • the entire chair mechanism is located below the seat. Both the height and the inclination adjustment are realized by means of springs arranged in the frame, preferably gas springs.
  • gas springs are actuated by adjusting levers positioned under the seat, to which the user has access while seated.
  • the principle of dividing the seat into a fixed thigh pad and a swiveling seat pad that merges into the backrest is known from CH-A-568 738.
  • the subdivision is realized with hinge links, which are arranged in the side parts of the support frame.
  • CH-A-582 498 discloses a chair of the relevant type. However, this construction is also limited to the swiveling of the backrest connected to the seat cover, whereby it is additionally proposed to cover the seat surface beyond the swivel axis up to the rear part of the frame.
  • a gas spring is used for the inclination adjustment; however, there is no possibility of height adjustment, an integrated, complete adjusting mechanism as well as a frame construction and upholstery covering that are adequate for today's production requirements and aesthetic demands.
  • the invention is therefore based on the object of providing an improved frame structure and a combined actuating mechanism for a chair with a pivot axis running over the seat surface, which enables all modern functions.
