Definitions
- the present invention relates to a method for tanning hides for the use of full grain leathers or crusts obtained by this process in the manufacture of products various such as shoes.
- the known industrial tanning processes consist of a series of operations to transform the skin into leather natural raw animal under the chemical action of tannins or organic or mineral agents, in particular chromium salts.
- the objective of the tanning processes is to make skins rot-proof and to give leather obtained mechanical resistance properties, particular temperature resistance, suitable for subsequent manufacturing operations.
- the processes of existing tanning allow this optimization of properties of leather but prove unfavorable to the environment due to the use of metals difficult to recycle or eliminate such as chromium.
- the use of metals such as chromium sometimes generates, due to the allergenic action of these, reactions from the user.
- tanning does not not applicable to crusts which are a by-product and therefore does not allow the recovery of the waste obtained after carrying out operations such as slitting and declutching.
- the present invention proposes to improve this type of tanning process free of chrome so as to increase the shrink temperature treated leathers.
- the invention relates to a method for tanning hides for the preparation of leathers used for the manufacture of finished products requiring temperatures of shrinking of high leathers, in particular of the order of 80 ° C, of the type consisting prior to tanning, to be washed the skins in a first step, called quenching, then at subject them to a skinning operation to allow, in a later slitting operation, the separation leather skins on the flower side later called flower leather and in leather on the flesh side called crust, the substances alkaline such as fatty lime contained in flower leathers being eliminated by neutralization by means of an acid during a so-called deliming operation while the crusts are subjected to an action of pickling to allow softening, then carry out the subsequent tanning operation in two stages, said operation comprising a pre-tanning step prior to the declutching operation known per se and a tanning step after the declutching operation in itself known, at least said pre-tanning step consisting to submit pickled crusts or flower leather
- tanning agents of compounds to silica based such as aluminosilicates which are used in tanning processes for manufacturing of leather and allow a partial or total replacement of auxiliaries which heavily charge the waste water of factories.
- EP-B-0 005 546 proposed to reduce the use of heavily loaded auxiliaries employees, in particular chrome tanning materials, by recommending the use of insoluble aluminosilicates in water in combination with di- and / or acids tricarboxylics and / or their partial esters in the chrome tanning or in combination tanning with tanning materials with chromium, aluminum and silicon.
- This use of aluminosilicates in combination with di- and / or tricarboxylic acids promotes an economy of the chrome tanning process and a reduction in the burden on the environment.
- the tanning described in this patent is carried out so usual, pickling and tanning can be combined in a manner known per se and then a lubrication is carried out leather.
- About 10 to 50 g are used per liter of silicate aluminum calculated as anhydrous product in the tanning and the acids used are brought into the tanning in an amount of 1 to 20 g per liter.
- the aluminum silicates used during the process generally come in a form crystalline or amorphous, can be synthetic or natural, directly prepared or obtained commercially and preferably have solubility in acids at least partial in the pH range from 2.5 to 5 and preferably from 3.5 to 4.5.
- Patent EP-B-0 007 555 proposes a tanning process advocating the use of insoluble aluminosilicates in water in combination with carboxylic acids containing ester and / or urethane and / or amide groups in a chrome tanning or a tanning combined with chrome, aluminum and silicon tannins that offer also the same advantages as the process described in EP-B-0 005 546.
- a mixture is introduced, free of chromium, based on aldehydes, tannins and / or resins acrylic and which also contains a mineral product with silica base and this, in order to obtain leathers treated without the use of chromium having a shrink temperature increased compared to leathers treated simply with the sulfate-free mixture of chrome and this, unexpectedly.
- the silica-based mineral product colloidal suspension is presented as a suspension colloidal amorphous silica.
- the invention also relates to a leather obtained by putting implementing the process, characterized in that it is composed on the flesh side or on the flower side of a skin.
- the first operations carried out on raw leather bought in hair consist of washing and then depilating the skins in order to allow their slitting, that is to say the separation of the tripe skin into two parts, one of the sides says flesh side also called crust, the other side says flower side called flower leather.
- Step 1 groups these operations under the terms quenching, skinning and slitting. The quenching operation therefore consists in washing the skin.
- this skin is subjected to an operation of pelanage which consists in carrying out, simultaneously or after depilation, an alkaline treatment, by example, so as to cause gentle hydrolysis of the skin to make the skin more receptive to operations subsequent, especially after separation during the slitting operation, using lime milk oily.
- step 2 The leather flower is first subjected to a deliming operation in step 2. Deliming is actually an action neutralization, by an acid, of the lime contained in the skin so as to remove alkaline substances retained by the skin in guts. Once this operation performed, the grain leather is subjected to a step 3 which consists of a pretanning of loose grain leather.
- This pre-tanning step is carried out using a mixture based on aldehydes, acrylic resin and / or synthetic or organic tannins further comprising a mineral product based on silica in colloidal suspension.
- a colloidal suspension of amorphous silica containing 30% SiO 2 stabilized in an alkaline medium is used in the pH range from 10 to 10.5.
- the silica in colloidal suspension is provided in a proportion of 2 to 4% by weight relative to the slit weight and the diameter of the particles of silica in colloidal suspension is less than or equal to 10.10 -6 mm so as to allow better leather penetration.
- step 4 the leathers are wrung as well obtained and, in the subsequent step, in this case step 5, we proceed to a new slitting of the grain leather says white slitting.
- a step 6 the leathers thus obtained are sorted and, in a step 7, a declutching operation is carried out.
- this tanning operation uses a chemical solution to based on aldehydes, synthetic tannins and / or resins preferably acrylic.
- step 9 a neutralization of leather with a chemical solution appropriate then again in the next numbered step 10, a retanning operation is carried out using a solution of composition similar to that of step 8.
- a solution of products based on sodium silico-aluminates is introduced as an inerting agent.
- the addition of the inerting agent is 3 to 5% of the derailed weight and said solution comprises 73 to 78% of SiO 2 .
- This solution comprising inerting agents contributes to improve the mechanical characteristics of the leather and, by particular, allows the leather to better withstand constraints imposed during the injection of a sole on a rod made from this leather.
- Crusts can be treated analogously to grain leather as it appears on the screen. Indeed, split crusts can, if they undergo pickling operation, be further processed using of operations in accordance with steps 3 to 12 of the process applied to grain leather. Again in step 7 constituted by the declutching step, the waste obtained could be valued.
- the process of the invention allow increase the shrinkage temperature of treated leathers but, in addition, it improves the properties of the treated leather while promoting the production of waste usable in other fields.
