Description
- Die vorliegende Erfindung betrifft Weichspülmittel für Gewebe in Form von wäßrigen Emulsionen oder Dispersionen.
- Beim Waschen von Textilien werden im letzten Waschgang bekannterweise sogenannte Weichspüler eingesetzt. Damit wird eine Verhärtung des Gewebes, die durch das Trocknen hervorgerufen wird, vermindert. Der Griff der so behandelten Textilien wie Hand- und Badetücher sowie Leib- und Bettwäsche wird angenehm beeinflußt.
- Üblicherweise werden als Weichspüler kationische Verbindungen verwendet, beispielsweise quaternäre Ammoniumverbindungen, die neben langkettigen Alkylresten auch Ester- oder Amidgruppen enthalten können, beispielsweise wie in US-PS 3 349 033, 3 644 203, 3 946 115, 3 997 453, 4 073 735, 4119 545 beschrieben. Diese Komponenten werden allein oder in Mischungen mit anderen kationenaktiven oder auch neutralen Substanzen in Form von wäßrigen Dispersionen dem Spülbad zugegeben.
- Häufig eingesetzt werden Ammoniumverbindungen, die Esterbindungen enthalten wie beispielsweise in EP-A-0 239 910, US-PS 3 915 867, US-PS 4 137 180, US-PS 4 830 771 beschrieben.
- WO-A-94/20597 betrifft konzentrierte weichspülmittel enthaltend quarternäre Ammoniumverbindungen, worin die langkettigen Fettsäurereste 11 bis 21 kohlenstoffatome enthalten und Jodzahlen im Bereich vom 5 bis 100 besitzen.
- US-A-5,637,743 offenbart die Bereitstellung eines weichspülmittels, das quaternäre Ammoniumsalze enthält, worin die Fettsäurehetten 5 bis 23 kohlenstoffatome enthalten, das verhältnis von Fettsäure: Amin 1,85 bis 1,40 ist und Jodzahlen im Bereich vom 10 bis 33 liegen.
- Besonders weit verbreitet sind Esterverbindungen auf Basis von Triethanolamin wie N-methyl-N,N-bis(beta-C14-18-acyloxyethyl), N-beta-hydroxyethyl ammonium methosulfat, die unter Handelsnamen wie TETRANYL® AT 75 (Warenzeichen der KAO Corp.), STEPANTEX® VRH 90 (Warenzeichen der Stepan Corp.) oder REWOQUAT® WE 18 (Warenzeichen der Witco Surfactants GmbH) vertrieben werden.
- Obgleich diese kationischen Verbindungen wirksame Weichmacher bei der Verwendung im letzten Spülbad darstellen, weisen sie beim Gebrauch immer noch gewisse Nachteile auf.
- Einer der Nachteile derartiger Mittel ist, daß das geforderte hohe Niveau von gleichzeitig gutem Rücknetzvermögen und weichem Griff der mit ihnen behandelten Textilien noch nicht befriedigend ist.
- Unter Rücknetzvermögen wird im allgemeinen die Aufnahme von Feuchtigkeit durch die Faser verstanden. Ein mangelhaftes Rücknetzvermögen wirkt sich aber dort nachteilig aus, wo größere Mengen Feuchtigkeit von der Hautoberfläche aufgenommen werden sollen. z. B. bei Hand- oder Badetüchern sowie bei Leib- oder Bettwäsche.
- Unter Verwendung an sich bekannter Verfahren (Batch- bzw. Kontiverfahren) können mit diesen Produkten stabile Weichspülmittel-Dispersionen hergestellt werden.
- Aufgabe der Erfindung war es, die obengenannten Nachteile herkömmlicher Weichspülformulierungen zu überwinden und Wäscheweichspülmittel bereitzustellen, die neben guter biologischer Abbaubarkeit ein wesentlich verbessertes Niveau von gutem weichem Griff unter Beibehaltung eines guten Rücknetzvermögens aufweisen.
- Die Aufgabe wurde gelöst durch Verwendung von quaternären Fettsäure-Aminalkohol-Estem aus Triethanolamin mit teilhydrierten Fettsäuren im Verhältnis von 1 : 1,6 bis 1 : 2 in Alkoholen bzw. Glykolen.

- Die erfindungsgemäß mitverwendeten quaternären Verbindungen der allgemeinen Formel I werden nach den auf diesem Gebiet allgemein bekannten Verfahren durch Veresterung von Triethanolamin mit Fettsäure und anschließender Quaternierung hergestellt.
- Als Fettkomponenten für die Veresterung bzw. Umesterung werden die auf diesem Gebiet bekannten und üblichen einbasischen Fettsäuren auf Basis natürlicher pflanzlicher und tierischer Öle mit insbesondere 14-18 Kohlenstoffatomen, eingesetzt, wie Talgfettsäuren und Palmfettsäuren bzw. deren Methyl- oder Ethylester.
- Der Gehalt dieser Fettsäuren bzw. Fettsäureester an ungesättigten Anteilen, wird - soweit dies erforderlich ist - durch die bekannten katalytischen Hydrierverfahren auf Jodzahlen zwischen 15-25 eingestellt, oder durch Abmischung von vollhydrierten mit nichthydrierten Fettkomponenten erzielt.
- Die Jodzahl, als Maßzahl für den durchschnittlichen Sättigungsgrad einer Fettsäure, ist die Jodmenge, welche von 100 g der Verbindung zur Absättigung der Doppelbindungen aufgenommen wird.
- Erfindungsgemäß bevorzugt sind teilhydrierte Talgfettsäuren und Palmfettsäuren mit Jodzahlen zwischen 15-25. Sie sind handelsübliche Produkte und werden von verschiedenen Firmen unter deren jeweiligen Handelsnamen angeboten.
- Die Veresterung oder Umesterung wird nach bekannten Verfahren durchgeführt. Hierbei wird das Triethanolamin mit der dem gewünschten Veresterungsgrad entsprechenden Menge an Fettsäure oder Fettsäureester, gegebenenfalls in Gegenwart eines Katalysators, z. B. Methansulfonsäure, unter Stickstoff bei 160-240 °C umgesetzt und das sich bildende Reaktionswasser bzw. der Alkohol kontinuierlich abdestilliert, wobei zur Vervollständigung der Reaktion gegebenenfalls der Druck vermindert werden kann.
- Auch die anschließende Quaternierung erfolgt nach bekannten Verfahren. Erfindungsgemäß wird vorzugsweise so verfahren, daß der Ester, gegebenenfalls unter Mitverwendung eines Lösungsmittels, vorzugsweise mit insbesondere Isopropanol, Ethanol, 1,2-Propylenglykol und/oder Dipropylenglykol, bei 60-90 °C mit equimolaren Mengen des Quaternierungsmittels unter Rühren, gegebenenfalls unter Druck, versetzt wird und die Vervollständigung der Reaktion durch Kontrolle der Gesamtaminzahl überwacht wird.
- Beispiele für die mitverwendeten Quatemierungsmittel sind kurzkettige Dialkylphosphate und -sulfate wie Diethylsulfat, Dimethylphosphat, Diethylphosphat, kurzkettige Halogenkohlenwasserstoffe; insbesondere wird erfindungsgemäß Dimethylsulfat verwendet.
- Für die Herstellung der quaternären Ammoniumverbindungen wurden Triethanolamin (TEA) und Fettsäuren nach den üblichen Verfahren umgesetzt und quatemiert.
- Als Fettsäuren wurden mitverwendet:
Fettsäure I: Talgfettsäure mit einer Säurezahl von 200-210, einer Jodzahl von 15-25 und einer C-Kettenverteilung von <C-16 ca. 2 % C-16 ca. 26 % C-16' ca. 2 % C-17 ca. 3 % C-18 ca. 48 % C-18' ca. 15 % C-18" <1 % Fettsäure II Palmfettsäure mit einer Säurezahl von 205-215, einer Jodzahl von 15-25 und einer C-Kettenverteilung von <C-16 ca. 3 % C-16 ca. 47 % C-16' - C-17 - C-18 ca. 28 % C-18' ca. 17 % C-18" ca. 2 % >C-18 ca. 2% Fettsäure III Talgfettsäure mit einer Säurezahl von 200-210, einer Jodzahl von 45-55 und einer C-Kettenverteilung von <C-16 ca. 4 % C-16 ca. 26 % C-16' ca. 2 % C-17 ca. 3 % C-18 ca. 17 % C-18' ca. 41 % C-18" <4 % >C-18 ca. 2 % - Quatemiert wurde mit Dimethylsulfat.
Komponente A: TEA : Fettsäure I 1 : 2 Komponente B: TEA : Fettsäure I 1 : 1,6 Komponente C: TEA : Fettsäure II 1 : 2 Komponente D: TEA: Fettsäure II 1 : 1,6 Komponente E: TEA: Fettsäure III 1 : 2 Komponente F: TEA: Fettsäure III 1 : 1,6 - Die Herstellung der Weichspülmittel erfolgt durch Emulgieren oder Dispergieren der jeweiligen Einzelkomponenten in Wasser. Hierbei können die auf diesem Gebiet üblichen Verfahrensweisen angewendet werden.
- Üblicherweise geht man dabei so vor, daß das bis auf ca. 10°C unterhalb des Klarschmelzpunktes der Weichmacher vorgewärmte Wasser vorgelegt wird, unter gutem Rühren erst die Farbstofflösung, dann die gegebenenfalls erforderliche Antischaumemulsion und schließlich die klare Schmelze der einzelnen Weichmacher nacheinander eindispergiert wird. Nach Zugabe einer Teilmenge einer Elektrolytlösung wird Parfümöl zudosiert, nachfolgend die restliche Menge Elektrolytlösung, und danach läßt man unter Rühren auf Raumtemperatur abkühlen. Die erfindungsgemäßen Weichspülmittel können dabei die angebenenen Komponenten innerhalb der auf diesem Gebiet üblichen Grenzen enthalten, wie beispielsweise 15-22 Gew.-% der Verbindungen der allgemeinen Formel (I); 2-5 Gew.-% eines Lösungsmittels wie insbesondere Isopropanol, Ethanol, Propylenglykol, Dipropylenglykol; 0,5-1,5 Gew.-% eines Alkaliund/oder Erdalkalisalzes; 0,5-1,5 Gew.-% Parfümöl und den Rest zu 100 Gew.-% (ad 100) Wasser.
- Wie die zum bekannten Stand der Technik gehörenden Weichspülmittel werden die erfindungsgemäßen Weichspüler im Anschluß an den eigentlichen Waschvorgang im letzten Spülgang zugegeben. Die Anwendungskonzentration liegt nach dem Verdünnen mit Wasser je nach Anwendungsgebiet im Bereich von 0,1-10 g Weichspülmittel pro Liter Behandlungsflotte.
- In Anlehnung an die DIN 53924 wird das Testgewebe (ca. 3 kg Baumwollköpergewebe, 100 % Baumwolle; Lieferant: WFK-Testgewebe GmbH, Krefeld) zweimal mit je 100 g Testwaschmittel und anschließend ohne Waschmittel gewaschen (jeweils 95 °C-Programm mit Vorwäsche). Das Testgewebe wird einen Tag bei Raumtemperaturzum Trocknen aufgehängt. Nach dem Trocknen werden Teststreifen von ca. 25 cm Länge und 1,5 cm Breite geschnitten. Es ist darauf zu achten, daß alle Teststreifen einer Prüfserie den gleichen Fadenverlauf aufweisen.
- Die Teststreifen werden mit einem Kugelschreiber markiert. An beiden Enden der Teststreifen werden Löcher gestanzt; dabei soll ein ca. 5 cm starker Geweberand erhalten bleiben.
- In den Bechergläsern wird die entsprechende Menge demineralisiertes Wasser vorgelegt und 0,025 %, bezogen auf den Feststoffgehalt, des zu testenden Produkts eingerührt. Ein Blindversuch wird so durchgeführt, indem demineralisiertes Wasser im Tauchbad vorgelegt wird.
- In diese Flotten werden jeweils 10 Teststreifen gegeben, 5 min bei ca. 50 Upm mit Hilfe eines Magnetrührers gerührt und anschließend 5 min ohne Rühren darin belassen. Anschließend werden die Teststreifen 24 h bei Raumtemperatur hängend getrocknet. Nach dieser Zeit wird mit einem wasserlöslichen Filzstift auf der glatten Seite eines jeden Streifens ein Strich parallel zu den langen Außenkanten gezogen.
- Die so behandelten Teststreifen (Blindwert + Testprodukt(e)) werden nun an der Eintauchvorrichtung befestigt. Dabei ist zu beachten, daß keine Dehnung der Streifen auftritt. Die Eintauchvorrichtung mit den Streifen wird in die zu einer Höhe von 8 cm mit demineralisiertem Wasser (entspricht etwa 10 I) gefüllte Wanne gestellt und dort 5 min belassen. 10 min nach dem Entfernen der Eintauchvorrichtung aus der Wanne wird die Steighöhe des Wassers, die an der veriaufenden Filzstiftfarbe zu erkennen ist, in mm bestimmt Es ist darauf zu achten, daß die untere Lochkante mit der oberen Seite direkt an dem (Aufhänge)Haken anliegt, um Ablesefehler zu vermeiden. Das demineralisierte Wasser muß nach jedem Versuch erneuert werden.
- Erfahrungsgemäß können bei dieser Methode leichte Streuungen auftreten, die bei der Berechnung durch Angabe der Standardabweichung zu berücksichtigen sind.

- Steighöhe des Wassers (Farbstoffes) in mm der Proben eines Weichspülers im arithmetischen Mittel
- 3 kg des Testgewebes (Gewebe "Duosoft", 100 % Baumwolle; Lieferant: Fa. Vossen) werden zweimal mit je 100 g Testwaschmittel und anschließend zweimal ohne Waschmittel gewaschen (jeweils 95 °C-Programm mit Vorwäsche, Dauer ca. 2 h); Schleuderdrehzahl: 1200 Upm.
- Durch eine fest vorgegebene Rottengröße von 15 (Miele W 719) ergibt sich ein Flottenverhältnis von 1 : 5. Nach der Wäsche wird das Testgewebe einen Tag bei Raumtemperatur zum Trocknen aufgehängt und anschließend bis zur Bearbeitung bei Raumtemperatur gelagert.
- Zum Tauchen des Gewebes werden in den Bechergläsem die errechneten Mengen des Weichspülmittels mit 15-20 °C vorgelegt und mit Leitungswasser von ca. 9 °dH und 15-20 °C auf 2 I aufgefüllt. Anschließend wird auf dem Magnetrührer solange gerührt, bis man homogene Dispersionen bzw. Lösungen vorliegen hat.
- Ein Blindversuch wird durchgeführt, indem reines Leitungswasser im Tauchbad vorgelegt wird. Pro Spülbad wird 1 Stück Testgewebe getaucht. Nach 10 min wird das Gewebe aus dem Spülbad genommen, leicht ausgewrungen, dreimal leicht ausgeschüttelt und 48 h bei Raumtemperatur einlagig hängend getrocknet.
- Das so behandelte Testgewebe wird-in 10 gleichgroße Stücke (ca. 16x25 cm) geschnitten. Jede Testperson erhält für die Beurteilung ein neues Teststück. Es muß verhindert werden, daß nach einigen Griffversuchen die Teststücke "weichgegriffen" sind.
- Die mit unterschiedlichen Weichspülern behandelten Testgewebe werden nun paarweise verglichen. Als Bewertung können dieTestpersonen ganze Punkte zwischen 0 und 5 verteilen, wobei 0 Punkt schlecht (hart) und 5 Punkte gut (weich) bedeuten.
- Die Differenzen zwischen den einzelnen Paaren werden jeweils in die zweite Spalte (Differenzpunkte) eingetragen.
- Dann ist die Differenz dem besser beurteilten Produkt zuzuteilen. Je mehr Differenzpunkte ein Produkt enthält, umso besser ist sein Weichgriff.
- Nach diesem Verfahren (Batch-Verfahren) werden aus den genannten Komponenten Dispersionen hergestellt:

- Wäßrige Weichspülmittel, enthaltend mindestens eine der Verbindungen der allgemeinen Formel (I)
H3C-N+[CH2-CH2-OR]a[CH2-CH2-OH]3-a CH3SO4 - (I)
worin R der Rest einer Fettsäure mit 14 bis 18 Kohlenstoffatomen und Jodzahlen im Bereich von 15-25 ist und a = 1, 2, 3 sein kann und worin das Verhältnis von Triethanolamin : Fettsäure = 1 : 1,6 bis 1 : 2 ist. - Wäßrige Weichspülmittel gemäß Anspruch 1, worin R der Rest einer Talgfettsäure oder Palmfettsäure mit Jodzahlen von 15 bis 25 ist.
