Definitions
- the invention relates to a pump for the metered discharge of liquid, gel-like or viscous substances from a container according to the preamble of claim 1 and a dispenser with such a pump.
- pumps for the delivery of lotions, creams, shampoos, toothpastes, perfumes, aftershaves etc. are widely used. These are generally piston pumps. Positive displacement pumps are also used for toothpastes. Displacement pumps have the advantage over piston pumps that they contain far fewer components and are less sensitive to abrasion.
- the pump body which delimits a displacement space has a shape which, after compression, moves back into the starting position due to its own resilient elasticity and draws the substance contained in a container through the vacuum generated in the process.
- Known pump bodies are designed as an elastic ball, dome-like body or bellows.
- a dispenser for flowable media is known with an elastically returning crimping head arranged on a dispenser housing, which has a valve mouthpiece opening and in whose crimping head bottom an inlet valve is provided, at which an intake hose ends.
- the valve mouthpiece opening of the squeeze head consists of lips that firmly press against one another and close the mouthpiece opening.
- the crimping head itself has a bellows-like structure. A reliable closing of the valve mouthpiece opening requires permanent resilience of the material used.
- a filling toothbrush is known from DE 36 03 475 C1, in the toothbrush handle of which there is a space for tooth cleaning agents and whose toothbrush head has a channel which leads from the space to an outlet opening in the region of the toothbrush bristles.
- an actuating member is provided for actuating a pump device which is arranged between the space and the channel and which has a valve, the closing direction of which faces the storage space.
- This Pupei ⁇ cardi is designed as a piston pump that conveys tooth cleaning agent into the channel by means of a piston rod. Piston pumps of this type are susceptible to wear and require many components.
- the object of the invention is therefore to provide a pump for the metered discharge of liquid, gel-like or viscous substances from a container according to the preamble of claim 1, which has a simple structure and is self-priming.
- the problem of self-priming is namely primarily a problem of the exhaust valve, since it must be ensured that air is not drawn in through the exhaust valve when the vacuum is built up. Of course, you want to save the cost of a spring-loaded valve.
- the outlet valve is not only tightly closing, but also the pump is self-priming, because the valve disc, which is convex in the direction of conveyance, i.e. curved outwards, has a valve seal in the form of a lip seal Notch opens slightly in the conveying direction, ie to the outside, but closes more firmly the more pressure is exerted in the opposite direction. So when the compressed pump body builds up vacuum, the suction created on the valve plate will compress the incision and thus the lip seal completely airtight. The substance contained in a container, i.e. the product mass can be sucked out of the container.
- the pump body If, on the other hand, the pump body is compressed, the substance sucked into a displacement space of the pump body can be discharged through the automatically opening incision.
- the small curvature outwards gives the outlet valve a tendency to open when the pressure in the displacement space is increased.
- the closing function of the exhaust valve is so secure that an air vacuum is fully maintained even over several days. For an out valve valve otherwise necessary valve seats are completely eliminated.
- the exhaust valve tires far less quickly than conventional valves and is therefore durable.
- the incision in the valve plate is preferably arranged in the center, so that the closing forces act as evenly as possible on the lip seal.
- the size of the valve plate is preferably adapted to the length of the lip seal, so that the incision then extends essentially over the width of the valve plate.
- the pump body preferably comprises a neck-like or chimney-like pump outlet which has the outlet valve at its free end, as a result of which a sealing guide is provided for an arrangement in an output channel of an attachable dispenser head.
- valve plate according to claim 6 is preferred, since this increases the response speed, so it is as slow as possible.
- the pump body shapes according to claims 7 to 10 ensure a high resilience resilience due to shape.
- An existing arch force leads to the fact that a compressed pump body spontaneously stands up again when unloaded.
- the higher wall thickness in the middle and lower part ensures that when the middle and lower displacement chamber are emptied, the strong restoring force there - due to the higher wall thickness - causes the pump body to snap back spontaneously to the initial position and thereby entrains the weaker upper part.
- a weak elasticity of an upper part of the pump body can thus be desirable in order to initially reduce the pressing pressure required to actuate the dispenser.
- the pump body can be provided with an inlet valve according to claims 15 and 16, as is usual in connection with airless and riser dispensers. Flutter valves have the advantage of closing automatically and without spring loading. A particularly preferred inlet valve is mentioned in claims 17 and 18, since it is much cheaper to manufacture, since only in one piece and without assembly costs.
- the pump body also has the advantage that its dimensions can be selected as a function of the desired discharge amount during a dispenser stroke. A metered discharge of certain amounts of substance is possible in a simple manner. Preferred dosage amounts are in the range between 10 mcl and 1000 mcl.
- the pump body is compressed in a discharge device, in particular a dispenser, preferably by means of an actuating element which centrally distributes the pump body with a circumferentially distributed one Pressure applied.
- a discharge device in particular a dispenser
- an actuating element which centrally distributes the pump body with a circumferentially distributed one Pressure applied.
- the pump body is designed like a mandrel or dome and has a neck-like or chimney-like exit process, it should be avoided that the pressure is exerted centrally on the neck-like or chimney-like exit process.
- Such a pump body tends to turn inside out only when the pressure is applied centrally, so that the pump body empties itself only incompletely. The spring restoring force from this inverted state is only slight.
- the dispenser and thus the actuating element acting on the pump body can be actuated by finger pressure via an actuation button or via a dispenser head which can be displaced axially relative to the pump body.
- the pump can be installed in any discharge device. One area of application is the dispensers for the substances of the cosmetic industry mentioned at the beginning.
- the pump can also be integrated in a manual or electric toothbrush.

- the pump housing 7 comprises an axially extending pump housing guide sleeve 12, which has a thread on the bottom for fastening to the container 1.
- This pump housing guide sleeve 12 leaves sufficient space to the right and left of the pump body 3 so that it can be pressed together like a disk, as shown for example in FIG.
- the pump housing 7 also guides the dispenser head 6, which is axially displaceable relative to the pump housing 7, in which the dispenser head 6 is at least partially displaceable with a dispenser head guide sleeve 17 in the pump housing 7, so that an actuating plunger 13 provided on the dispenser head 6 is by means of a actuating element 14 provided thereon can compress the pump body 3.
- the dispenser head 6 in the pump housing guide sleeve 12 can have one or more springs 15 (FIG. 15) which cooperate with grooves 16 in a dispenser head guide sleeve 17.
- springs 15 FIG. 15

- the incision 22 is usually produced by making a cut through the center of the valve plate 21. The two cut sides form lips that are close together when the pump is sucking and open by spacing when the pump body empties under pressure.
- the pump body 3 has a shape with a shape-related spring restoring force from a compressed state to an original state.
- the pump body 3 is designed like a mandrel or dome with a circular basic shape. Alternatively, an oval basic shape can also be provided.
- the pump body 3 also tapers forward preferably on the head side.
- the pump body 3 can end on the head side in a neck-like or chimney-like pump outlet 23, on which the valve disk 21 closing the pump body 3 on the head side is then formed.
- Such a pump outlet 23 provides a sealing guide for an engagement position with a discharge device, as can be seen from FIGS. 1 to 4.
- the sealing guide can also be provided by a sealing ring (not shown) provided on the pump body 3, which surrounds the valve disk 21. A tight fit of the pump body 3 in the output channel 5 is thus ensured.

- the product located in the displacement space 10 of the displacement pump 2 is pressed out via the outlet valve 4 into the discharge channel 33 and conveyed to a toothbrush head 38.
- the pump body 3 returns to its original shape.
- the negative pressure then formed therein causes the follower piston 11 to automatically advance in the container 1.
- the inlet valve 9 of the positive displacement pump 2 closes during the squeezing phase, while the outlet valve opens under pressure.
- the outlet valve 4 closes and prevents the entry of air into the displacement space 10, while the inlet valve opens under the resulting vacuum and product is conveyed into the pump body. This process can be repeated until the container 1 is emptied.
