If the abbreviation is followed by the word letter, mail item or printing medium is used, this of course includes all types Envelopes or other record carriers.
- a record carrier can be mail, index cards, labels or self-adhesive Strips of paper or similar material are used become.
- the printing device is particularly suitable for printing on Letters are provided in a franking / addressing machine.
- a franking module was proposed in DE 40 18 166 A1, of both types of data, i.e. Franking data and address data or parts of these prints as a barcode.
- This device is in a slot a drive tray of a personal computer.
- the franking module is at the end of a feed slot for the letters a stop to which the letters are inserted, and a light barrier is available.
- the light barrier activated for the Duration of the printing process a holding device which the letter in fixed this position.
- the printing unit reprints in the vertical direction below and can be coupled to a strip encoder for Franking of mail that deviates from a standard size.

Abstract
