Definitions

  • the invention relates to a doctor blade intended to be part of a screen printing machine, or to be handled by an operator, for printing or transferring fluids or pastes, or other applications.
  • scraping heads of the type comprising a doctor blade holder and a deformable doctor blade extending longitudinally and rigidly associated with each other.
  • scraper heads are the subject of numerous variant embodiments. They are attached to means machine support by means of screws, brackets or other clamping or fixing members.
  • a metal squeegee or according to the terminology of the "flood bar” profession grazes the sieve to to re-coat it with ink that has been pushed to an edge of the screen by the previous print.
  • the scraper blade is traditionally made of rubber and has typically the shape of a rectangular parallelepiped, it is continuous, both longitudinally and transversely. It can also present, in its contact part sieve, different profiles deemed more favorable some work.
  • the scraper blade must have characteristics simultaneously which seem contradictory.
  • the doctor blades are incorporated to machines.
  • EP-A-167.906 provides a support bar in one hard elastic material inserted in the doctor blade, to which is connected a profiled blade made of a material flexible.
  • DE-A-19 58 912 describes a doctor blade intended to be part a screen printing machine for printing or transfer of fluids or pastes, comprising a head, a base in lip shape and at least one elastically deformable organ connecting the head and the base, the flexibility of the doctor blade, at each point independent of its length, resulting from the combination of the lip's own flexibility and elasticity of the elastically deformable member.
  • Organs elastically deformable, namely springs with blade are arranged in isolation from each other, each of these springs being structurally continuous in themselves.
  • the support to be scraped inevitably presents inequalities of surfaces.
  • the passage of the scraper blade due to these surface inequalities vibrations which at the same time affect the quality of the print and contribute to the fatigue of the machine including the doctor blade.
  • the build-up ink in front of the scraper blade may cause a phenomenon "inkplaning" (neologism analogous to aquaplaning and meaning lifting of the scraper blade by a film which also affects the quality of the print.
  • the invention therefore aims to remedy the drawbacks or limits current scraping heads.
  • the invention aims to solve the problems inherent in the surface unevenness of the supports to scrape.
  • the invention relates to a doctor blade intended for making part of a screen printing machine, or to be handled by an operator, for printing or transferring fluids or pasta, or other applications, comprising a head, a lip-shaped base and at least one resilient organ deformable connecting the head and the base, the flexibility of the doctor blade, at each point independent of its length, resulting the combination of the lip's own flexibility and the elasticity of the elastically deformable member, characterized in that the elastically deformable member is structurally discontinuous in at least one place in the longitudinal direction of the doctor blade and extends along several layers of springs spaced from each other.

  • the teeth of the comb formed by the elastically deformable organ individually exert pressure on each of longitudinal sectors of the lip, thus made independent.
  • the independent distribution of the pressure through the teeth of the organ comb is supplemented by sliding the head in a doctor blade and the action an inflatable sleeve.
  • the elastically deformable member comprises several parts functional as regards elasticity, located along the longitudinal direction of the doctor blade, these functional parts being substantially independent of each other others so that we can take into account inequalities in surface of the support to be printed.
  • the body of the organ elastically deformable comprises at least one and in particular two wires arranged in spirals or undulations, defining with the head and the base a deformable quadrilateral according to the pressure exerted by the doctor blade on the support to be printed.
  • This deformable quadrilateral is either a deformable parallelogram so that the angle of inclination of the lip on the support to be printed is constant whatever the pressure of the doctor blade on the support to be printed, i.e. trapezium whose large base is located towards the head and conversely the small base located towards the base of the organ elastically deformable, the angle of inclination then being voluntarily modified with the pressure of the doctor blade on the support to print.
  • the body of the organ elastically deformable, the head and the base are either conductive of electricity, either flush-fitting, of so as to ensure a certain electrical continuity between the lip and the doctor blade via the elastic member deformable so as to evacuate static electricity.
  • the elastically deformable member can be made of material plastic or metal, metal alloy, or in combination plastic, metal, metal alloy. This matter is armed or not.

  • a doctor blade as described above may include in addition two screen reducers at its two ends.
  • the elastically deformable member can be waterproof or closed, but preferably it includes at least one part of the length of the doctor blade a plurality of openings or openings above the lip allowing the passage of excess printing ink.
  • the scraper lip of the doctor blade described may have a height transverse reduced in particular of the order of a centimeter. This low height then allows the passage, overcoat, excess printing ink, so that use the doctor blade in both directions.
  • the elastically deformable member is present in the general form of either a band of width substantially constant, either of a sheet or a strip comprising one or more cutouts or protrusions extending transversely, either from a comb or a workpiece spiral or wavy with projections extending in particular vertically.
  • outgrowths or projections extend either over the same distance along the doctor blade, i.e. on different distances depending in particular on the flexibility / hardness desired.
  • Neighboring functional parts functionally substantially independent of each other doing part of the elastically deformable member, in particular the growths or protrusions substantially adjoin or adjoin each other or, on the contrary are spread along the longitudinal direction of the doctor blade. If applicable this spacing is variable depending on flexibility / hardness desired.
