Definitions
- the present invention relates to an electrical connector according to the preamble of claim 1, i.e. one electrical connector with at least one contacting element, one completely the at least one contacting element or partially surrounding, electrically insulating insulation section, and one the isolation section and that completely or partially surrounding at least one contacting element, shielding electromagnetic radiation Shielding section, wherein the shielding section one inseparably connected to the insulation section Is injection molded part.
- An electrical connector of this type is from GB-A-2 068 654 known.
- the shielding properties that can be achieved in this way of the electrical connector is not sufficient.
- the present invention is therefore based on the object the electrical connector according to the preamble of the claim 1 in such a way that on the one hand this one ensures excellent shielding of electromagnetic radiation, on the other hand but still simple and error-prone can be produced.
- the insulation section and / or the shielding section contains ferrite powder.
- Ferrite is an electrically non-conductive material with good Shielding properties.
- electrical connector is a connector with contact pins or contact blades as contacting elements.
- the contact blades are in the figures with the reference number 1 designated; they are in the embodiment shown in two rows one above the other.
- the Contact knife 1 partially from a isolating them from each other Isolation section 2 surrounded.
- the isolation section 2 in turn is partially shielded from one Shielding portion causing electromagnetic radiation 3 surrounded.
- the shielding section 3 is based on an injection molding process manufactured and therefore consists of plastic or Plastic containing material; hence the shielding section fulfill the shielding function intended for him can, it is preferably an electrically conductive Plastic or an electrically conductive component (for example stainless steel fibers) containing plastic.
- the shielding section 3 Manufacturing process (injection molding process) can these are so massive and robust that he can also serve as a connector housing.
- Such Manufacture of the shielding section 3 thus enables on the provision of a separate connector housing or a separate shielding chamber (one on an electrical one) PCB, on a device housing wall or the like assembled housing-free electrical connector).
- the shielding section 3 is also designed such that that it also serves as a holding device for holding the insulation section 2 inside the electrical connector is used, which is between the insulation section 2 and the shielding section 3 resulting connection advantageously designed as a non-separable connection is, for example, by a mutual play-free Penetrating the same.
- the insulation section 2 preferably also consists of Plastic or plastic containing material; so that Isolation section the insulation function intended for him can meet, it is an electrical non-conductive plastic or a mixture of ferrite powder and plastic.
- plastic or containing plastic Material for the insulation section 2 causes between this and the plastic Shielding section 3 containing plastic alone Application of the latter to the former by injection molding an extremely high quality mechanical connection can be.
- plastic or containing plastic Material for the insulation section 2 also causes this also using an injection molding process can be manufactured.
- the electrical connector is then using a two-component injection molding process producible, the first processed first (electrically Non-conductive) component for forming the insulation section and the second (electrically conductive) processed afterwards Component for forming the shielding section serves.
- the (partial) embedding of the contact blades in the insulation section is advantageously carried out with a Production of the insulation section accompanying embedding (in the case of manufacturing the insulation section after the injection molding process by inserting the contact knife into the injection mold and overmolding the same through the later the material forming the insulation section) or by Subsequent pressing of the contact knife in the insulation section.
- Both of the connection options mentioned enable a minimal number of work steps and without the provision of special connecting elements a very strong and durable mechanical Connection between the contacting elements and the Insulation section.
- the insulation section also acts 2 as a shielding element against electromagnetic Radiation, essentially while maintaining its electrical insulation properties.
- this is the contact knife 1 surrounding insulation section as an all contact knife shown in a self-contained block.
- the isolation section can rather be of any size and for any number Contact knives are trained together. In extreme cases a separate insulation section is assigned to each contact knife. In this case, up to a mere coating the respective contact knife reducible insulation section 2 can then, for example, by an electrical non-conductive paint or an electrically non-conductive paint Plastic shrink tubing can be formed.
- the insulation section can advantageously obtain this be that it melts when soldering and thus the solder connection not adversely affected.
- trained insulation section 2 can be provided with it Contact knife with the shielding section 3 through subsequent pressing into the shielding section 3 or by one associated with the manufacture of the shielding section Embedding (i.e. by inserting the coated Contact knife in the injection mold and overmolding it by the one that later forms the shielding section Material). Manufacturing takes place in both cases of the electrical connector, however, no longer using a two-component injection molding process, but "only" using a one-component injection molding process.
- the electrical connector according to the invention has been described above using a connector with contact blades as contacting elements described. However, none insists Limitation. Rather, the invention applies to all types of electrical connectors and regardless of the type the contacting elements can be used in a corresponding manner. Apart from that, it is also irrelevant where the described electrical connector is provided; it can for example, on a circuit board, a device housing wall or the like fixed stationary electrical Connector or around a connection cable provided, freely movable electrical connector act.
