Definitions
- the invention relates to an arrangement for an ink print head, which is composed of several modules in stacked construction or is equipped with only one module.
- Such ink printheads are used both in office printers and in small, fast printers - as are required for franking machines and product labeling devices - and generally have a larger number of nozzles. In the latter case in particular, a high level of reliability is required so that errors in printing are avoided which can trigger high follow-up costs.
- One component that has a particularly large influence on the reliability of a printer is the ink print head. If the ink print head is composed of several components, the precise arrangement of the same with one another and with one another has a decisive influence on its reliable function. As is known, reliability also increases as the number of individual parts decreases. The invention starts at these two points.
- each module has a number of nozzles and consists of a plurality of plates arranged one above the other with incorporated ink pressure chambers and ink supply channels.
- the module is built according to the sideshooter principle, which means that the nozzle channels or nozzle openings are led across an outer plate.
- the pressure wave in the ink pressure chamber runs in the direction of the nozzle channel, so that the ink droplets are ejected orthogonally to the plate.
- ink inlet channels and openings are provided for the ink supply across the outer plate of the opposite side of the module.
- an inlet nozzle is placed on the plate above each ink inlet opening.
- the inlet ports of all modules, which are in a row, are connected to an ink tank via a common adapter with subsequent ink hose.
- the adapter is constructed as a liquid distribution element.
- On its ink outlet side there are nozzles which are pushed onto the inlet nozzles of the modules.
- On its ink inlet side is a nozzle on which the ink tube is pushed.
- the problem of pressure equalization for the ink inlet is not taken into account. Both for reasons of unobstructed ink ejection - via a side wall, as a side shooter - and the space required for the ink inlet, a flaky arrangement of the modules is required for this ink print head.
- the modules are stacked one behind the other so that the nozzle area and the ink supply area are free. This in turn requires a correspondingly large amount of space.
- a receiving frame for the modules is provided, which has inclined steps - one step for each module - and a common opening for the nozzle area of all modules.
- the modules are provided with elongated holes through which screws are inserted which engage in the threaded holes in the steps. The modules have to be adjusted with a gauge and then locked with the screws. As can be seen from the description, the number of individual parts and the adjustment effort are considerable. A cleaning and sealing station adapted to this ink print head will be very complicated due to the gradation.
- an ink print head in stacked construction is known from individual identical modules which work according to the edge shooter principle and which are assembled according to the "interlaced principle", compare EP 0 615 844 B1.
- the modules are held at an equal distance from each other by means of spacers and fastened in a module carrier which has a front plate with a common opening for the nozzle surfaces of all modules and separate fastening elements for each module. Staggered stop edges for the modules are worked into the opening. Accordingly, each module has a reference edge with a highly precise distance from the first nozzle of its row of nozzles. In this way, the staggered arrangement is realized according to the "interlaced principle".
- the individual module consists of three plates arranged one above the other; a middle plate and two cover plates.
- the nozzles are molded into one of the cover plates so that the middle plate forms a nozzle wall.
- the spacers are attached to the modules so that their nozzle rows are kept at equidistance. Three spacers are provided per module, so that the distance is formed by three-point contact. The distance is determined by the length of the spacers, since they are touching each other in a row.
- the modules are accordingly provided with three through holes through which the spacers are guided.
- the spacers are designed so that they rest in the edge area on the central plate of the module on the surface that is involved in the nozzle formation.
- the spacers are attached to the middle plate in their contact area by gluing or soldering.
- the tolerances of the spacers and determine of the fastener the accuracy of the spacing of the rows of nozzles to each other add up according to the number of modules the tolerances in the tolerance chain.
- the purpose of the invention is to simplify the construction of the ink printhead, an increase in the area of application and an improvement the service characteristics.
- the invention has for its object an arrangement for one To create ink printhead with the simplest possible structure, the manages with few individual components and with the subsequent one Adjustments of the individual components to each other are not necessary.
- the ink printhead should consist of a single module as well as several identical modules based on the edge shooter principle in stacked construction can exist.
- a simple, self-adjusting structure is achieved by inserting identical modules with a single, precise reference edge in assigned equidistant slots in a base plate with a stop in a force-fitting and form-fitting manner in a housing.
- the elastic mounting by means of an already existing and necessary common adapter for the ink connection piece of the modules and a single spring element, which is designed as a one-piece stamped and bent part, has other advantages in addition to the advantages already mentioned.
- the modules are only inserted when spring forces are exerted - rubber-elastic coupling of the adapter and spring-elastic by the spring element made of stainless steel - overloading and damage to the modules are safely avoided and a separation between the very strict tolerance requirements for the module and the relatively low tolerance requirements achieved for the attachment of the holding elements.
- the spring element can be produced with a suitable follow-up tool without any particular difficulty for any number of modules with the required accuracy, since only the distance between the legs of the hold-down device has to be observed. With the hold-down devices, the modules are not only pressed against the base plate with their shoulders, but are also kept equidistant in the area away from the nozzle area. The situation is correspondingly simpler when the ink print head is designed with only one module.
- the holder is carried out analogously by means of an adapter for only one ink connection piece and a spring element with only one hold-down device.
- an adapter for only one ink connection piece and a spring element with only one hold-down device.
- the housing 4 is made of a frame 41, a base plate 4, only in 3 visible, and assembled a lid 43.
- modules 1 are arranged obliquely in the housing 4, aligned with one another and equidistant from one another.
- the modules 1 protrude with their connections 14 into assigned bores 311 of a bus board 31.
- the connections 14 are soldered to the bus board 31.
- the bus board 31 is part of the bus adapter 3, which is connected to a central control and power supply via the strip conductor 32 and the plug connector 33. In this way, the modules 1 are electrically connected to one another and to the central control.
- ink connecting pieces 15 which are connected to one another by means of the common adapter 2 and are connected to an ink supply.
- the adapter 2 is fastened with its base body 21, which has fastening holes 211, to associated screw bushings 411 by means of screws 212.
- the screw bushings 411 are integrally formed on the frame 41.
- Screw bushings 412 for fastening the cover 43 to the frame 41 are also formed accordingly.
- the cover 43 and the angle 6 are fastened together by means of screws 432. For this purpose, both have fastening holes 431, 61 at the same distance.
- a module 1 consists of an ink printing module 11 and circuit modules 12, 13 arranged on both sides thereof with the common connections 14.
- the ink connection piece 15 is fastened parallel to a side edge 110 of the ink printing module 11 by means of a U-shaped bracket 1511 made of a stainless spring steel.
- the ink connection piece 15 has a flange part 151 and a pipe part 152, onto which a hat-shaped sealing sleeve 153 made of a rubber-elastic material, such as silicone rubber, is pushed.
- the sealing sleeve 153 rests on the one hand with its shaft 1531 on a shoulder 1514 of the flange part 151 and on the other hand with its edge 1532 on the base body 21 of the adapter 2, see also FIG. 2.
- the ink printing module 11 consists of three plates 111, 112, 113 one above the other or one behind the other, which are provided with a tab 1111, 1121, 1131 on the side for the purpose of mechanical and fluidic coupling of the ink connection piece 15.
- the flange portion 151 of the ink connection piece 15 is provided on the one hand with a recess 1512 for receiving the tabs 1111, 1121, 1131 of the ink printing module 11, as well as one leg of the clip 1511, and on the other hand with a bead 1513 for locking the other leg of the clip 1511.
- the clamp 1511 is positively and non-positively on the one hand on the flange side with the bead 1513 and on the other hand on an externally closed smooth tab 1111.
- Each ink pressure module 11 projects with its nozzle surface 10 into the slot 421 of the base plate 42 assigned to it and is pressed by the spring element 5 against an end face 4210 of the slot 421.
- a compartment for receiving the spring element 5 is formed by means of webs 415 formed on the frame 41.
- the spring element 5 is inserted into this compartment and is held in a form-fitting manner by means of locking lugs 413 provided on the frame 41.
- a bore 414 is provided for receiving the pivot axis 7 for the ink print head.
- FIG. 4 shows clearly how the ink printing module 11 is inserted into the slot 421 of the base plate 42.
- the ink printing module 11 is pushed so far into the slot 421 that its nozzle surface 10 lies at least in one plane with the outer surface of the base plate 42 or projects beyond it. In this way, cleaning of the nozzle surface 10 is made possible by means of a wiper lip and wiped-off quantities are kept away from the same.
- the ink printing module 11 rests on the base plate 42 with both shoulders 101 formed by all the plates 111, 112, 113 and with a side edge 110 of the middle plate 112 containing the nozzles against the end face 4210 of the slot 421 in the base plate 42.
- the contact pressure against the base plate 42 is generated jointly by means of the adapter 2 and the spring element 2.
- the spring element 2 presses with the hold-down device 541 or with its cross bar 5412 on the upper edge 114 and with the pressure flap 551 against a second side edge 115 of the ink printing module 11, see also FIG. 5.
- the spring element 2 is produced as an integral, box-shaped stamped and bent part from an ink-resistant spring material, such as stainless steel.
- the spring element 2 has a rectangular rear wall 51 and side walls 52, 53, 54, 55 that are angled orthogonally from the rear wall 51.
- the rear wall 51 is provided with two rectangular recesses 511 for the latching noses 413 on the frame 41.
- the side walls 52, 53 are wedge-shaped in the joining direction of the spring element 2 and lie opposite one another.
- the upper side wall 54 is slotted and angled orthogonally at the ends so that a hold-down device 541 is formed for each module 1.
- the hold-down device 541 consists of two parallel legs 5411 and a final crossbar 5412. When the spring element 2 is inserted, the legs 5411 enclose the ink pressure module 11 in the region of the second side edge 115, see also FIGS. 3 and 4.
- the lower side wall 55 is also slotted but angled inward at the ends, so that a pressure tab 551 is formed for each module 1. As previously stated, the individual pressure flap 551 presses against the side edge 115 of the ink printing module 11.
- the conditions for the design of the ink print head with only one module 1 can be derived from FIG. 3.
- the unoccupied slots 421 in the base plate 42 are then sealed and the adapter 2 need only be designed for an ink printing module 11. It is obvious that in the case of an ink print head with only one module 1 with a sufficient number of nozzles, the control effort can be significantly reduced and there is a greater range of uses, for example in product labeling devices.
Abstract
