Definitions

  • the invention relates to a squib connector for a collision protection device, especially in vehicles, consisting of a connector connected to leads and a connector inserted into the housing wall of the collision protection socket with the connectors of the squib, wherein the plug is a perpendicular to the connecting lines aligned tubular plug part with sockets and a common holder for the plug part and the leads and are provided in the means, on the one hand prevent erroneous insertion of the plug into the socket and on the other hand fix the plug in the socket when making the plug connection.
  • Squib plug connections of this type which are used in particular in the automotive electronics for airbag gas generators, are known, for example, from the document EP 0 512 682 A2.
  • the connection between the sockets and the perpendicular aligned leads by welding, soldering or squeezing sleeves.
  • the sockets including the connection cables connected thereto are then introduced together with other plug parts made of metal or plastic in an injection mold and partially sprayed there with an elastomeric sealant and provided with a final form the plug shape, sealing the plug sheath. It must be ensured by special measures that the sealant does not even approach the resilient sockets, because otherwise the hereby produced connection to the squib can not be guaranteed in any case.
  • EP-A-0 698 947 which is considered to represent the closest prior art, discloses a squib lancing connection according to the preamble of claim 1.
  • the invention has for its object to provide for such a Zündpillenstecker another constructive solution that not only allows easy and quick assembly of the connector, but also allows to bring him to put high demands on the tightness in a simple and cost-saving manner.
  • the tubular connector part and the leads common support is a housing lower part with molded tubular plug part and housing upper part existing housing, that the housing interior of a parts of the housing base and of the upper housing part formed, self-contained contact chamber for the connection of the introduced into the contact chamber leads to the sockets of the connector part, that the contact chamber whose feedthrough openings are provided for the connecting lines with sealing ribs, surrounded by a flow channel arrangement, the sealing of the contact chamber the separation points between the upper housing part and the lower housing part is completely filled from the outside of the housing via an injection opening under pressure with an elastic sealant.
  • the invention is based on the finding that can be much simpler by the division of the housing into two halves, the assembly of the plug.
  • the high demands on the tightness can be fulfilled despite the subdivided housing in an extremely advantageous manner in that the housing is designed in the region of the connection of the terminal contacts with the leads to an inner closed, surrounded by a flow channel arrangement contact chamber.
  • a second development of the invention which has the advantageous arrangement of a ferrite for the protection of the plug against unwanted high-frequency interference to the object, is specified in claim 11.
  • a part of the housing wall 1 of a collision protection device with squib connector is shown in plan view.
  • the housing 4 of the plug 3 has, as its side views in Figs. 3 and 4 show, the shape of a flat box and has on its underside a tubular plug part 7 for engagement in the socket 2 on.
  • the plug part 7 is part of the lower housing part. 6
  • the housing 4 has on this side a collar-shaped sleeve 9, which receives a connecting lines 8 sealingly enveloping, but not shown in the figures spout made of elastic material in it.
  • the side view of the plug 3 with a view of the sleeve 9 shows that the housing 4 between the leads 8 has a rectangular opening, namely an injection opening 10 for the introduction of an elastic sealant, which is also shown in section in the sectional drawing in Fig. 7 and there is designated 45.
  • an injection opening 10 for the introduction of an elastic sealant
  • the tubular plug part 7 has a plug-in collar 11 at its free end.
  • the plug collar 11 of the plug part 7 has a plug collar contour 12 in the form of a contour depression with - founded Fig. 6 and 7 - a bottom 13 and a stored thereon, adapted to the contour plate-shaped elastomeric seal 14.
  • the bottom 13 and the elastomeric seal 14 have mutually aligned, not designated in the figures holes that provide access to the arranged in the tubular connector part 7 terminal contacts 15.
  • 7 locking springs 16 are mounted on opposite sides on the outside of the plug collar 11 of the tubular plug part 7, which, as shown in FIG. 4 reveals, are aligned with their free ends obliquely outwards to the housing 4.
  • socket 2 in the housing wall 1 of the collision protection device consists of a matched to the outer contour of the tubular connector part 7 including detent springs 16 receiving opening 20th inner wall side, the receiving opening 20 has a counter-detent for the detent springs 16 designed recesses 21st On the bottom side, the receiving opening 20 of the socket 2 is bounded by the base 22 of the squib with the terminal plugs 23 projecting into the receiving opening 20.
  • the base 22 of the squib has on the side of the exiting connector 23 a plug collar contour 12 of the plug part 7 complementary contour increase - socket contour 24 -, is ensured by the fact that the connector only with proper polarity between the connectors 23 of the squib and the connector side terminal contacts 15 possible is.
  • the elastomeric seal 14 is pressed by the end face of the socket contour 24 sealingly against the male collar contour 12 of the tubular connector part 7.
  • the detent springs 16 engage in the inner wall side recesses 21 of the receiving opening 20 and thus lock the connector produced.
  • FIG. 6 The section A / A of the plug 3 of FIG. 2, which is shown enlarged in both FIG. 6 and in FIG. 7, shows how the housing 4 is assembled from the upper housing part 5 and lower housing part 6.
  • a comparison of FIG. 6 and 7 can be seen immediately that both figures differ only by the sealant 45, which is still missing in the representation of the plug 3 in Fig. 6.

In this way, when filling the flow channel arrangement 37 with the elastic sealing compound 45 under pressure, it can be easily checked when the flow channel arrangement 37 is completely filled with the sealing compound.
  • the height of the chamber part wall 39 of the housing upper part 5 is selected so that it is supported on the front side of the bottom 40 of the housing base 6.
  • the lower housing part 6 also has a chamber dividing wall 41, the height of which, however, is substantially less than that of the chamber dividing wall 39. Both chamber dividing walls 39 and 41 engage in one another in the manner of two cones, forming a relatively long and narrow dividing gap 42, which penetrates the chamber Sealant forms a flow resistance that can not be overcome by it.
