Abstract

Kurze, wassergekühlte, unten offene Kokille (10) zum Herstellen von Blöcken oder Strängen nach dem ESU-Verfahren bzw. Stranggießverfahren, bei welcher der Meniskus des Gießspiegel durch eine elektrisch leitende Schlacke abgedeckt ist, enthält im Bereich des Schlackenbades (20) oberhalb des Gießsiegels nicht direkt wassergekühlte, stromleitende Elemente (24), über die ein Kontakt zu einer Stromquelle (42) herstellbar ist. Als Werkstoff für diese stromleitenden Elemente (24) wird Graphit oder ein hochschmelzendes Metall -- beispielsweise W, Mo, Nb od.dgl. -- eingesetzt. In einer besonderen Ausführungsform können die stromleitenden Elemente (24) gegenüber dem wassergekühlten Teil sowie gegeneinander durch nicht wassergekühlte, den Strom nicht leitende -- beispielsweise aus Keramik gefertigte -- Elemente, elektrisch isoliert sein.
