Definitions
- the invention relates to a multi-pole electrical Connector, which is a connector housing, one in front of it outstanding standard plug with a carrier block made of plastic for an electrical contact part and a Multi-core electrical lead into the rear of the connector housing Includes connection cable for the electrical contacts.
- plugs or Connector devices for low-voltage systems the market, especially for electrical connections to main communication and peripherals, for example ISDN, telephone, terminal and modem, as well as PC, host or data network systems.
- the connector devices include usually four to 16, but also more poles, like the contacts also be called.
- Illegal, incorrect, wrong, Connections that do not conform to the system, are of a different type or are harmful to the system have long been avoided by the connector certain geometric shapes and / or external dimensions to have.
- the connector system is the plug and socket insert standardized for certain number of poles educated.
- a particularly advantageous embodiment is described in EP, A1 0573396, where the coding system and the contact system of socket and plug in Plug direction spatially separated and independent of each other are. With such a coding system, the same geometric shape and / or outer dimensions a large Number of possible combinations can be used.
- the coding can be done by a special coloring of Replaces, supports or supplements the plug and associated socket become. Today there are up to 30 different identification colors are available, which immediately catches a wrong insertion do. Additional coding prevents incorrect manipulation from the outset. The assignment is most convenient a color to a specific code. Of course can also assign different codes to one color be what practically unlimited combination possibilities allows.
- a major disadvantage of this diversity is that a large number of cables with both ends plugs must be kept in stock. Are connected accordingly high investments in cable and connector material, as well Storage and warehouse management costs.
- the invention has for its object a multi-pole to create electrical plugs of the type mentioned at the beginning, which with unchanged great variety of uses Logistics problems reduced to a fraction.
- Cable sheath, connector housing termination and carrier block of the Standard plugs which are all made of plastic suitably kept in an inconspicuous, neutral color, also a possible one with the connector housing termination one-piece grommet, which protects the kink of the cable in the transition area to the plug.

These means can, for example, in the direction of the cable end cantilever spring legs for locking with the connector housing sleeve be, which in turn with the standard plug is locked.
- the characteristic colored, integrally formed connector housing sleeves with a exchangeable in a few simple steps can be a variant on one connection cable, the other the other variant should be designed, essential is the same color code.
- the correct assignment of a plug to a socket can with the same geometric shape and dimension of the Plugs can be made absolutely safe by one in itself known coding system is used, preferably according to EP, A1 0573396.
- the coding combs are on the outer jacket of the Plug-in housing molded. For each variant there is one accordingly modified injection mold manufactured. The number Injection molding could also be reduced and one or more Coding combs can be separated individually. At six Comb / groove pairs result in 31 coding options. Become on the narrow sides of larger plugs instead of three each Four coding combs arranged, the number of possible variations increases already at 57, almost doubling.
- a connector housing sleeve without coding combs or with complete separate coding combs can be encoded in any or uncoded socket insert.
- coded connector housing sleeves interact with corresponding socket inserts the variety of secured Connector systems for multi-pole electrical Plug according to the present invention with the simplest means significantly expand the number of different Connector housing sleeves just doubled what that Storage volume increased only slightly.
- coded connector housing sleeves be stored, which by separating all coding combs become an uncoded shell.
- the standard connector preferably one from the contact part protruding spring-loaded locking bracket with snap-in lugs on.
- this bracket locks after reaching the End position automatically.
- This locking bracket is used to release with one finger pressed against the standard plug, and pulled out the unlocked connector, but what is not always easy to do.
- the connector housing sleeve has a right angle cantilevered, in the push-open direction of the connector housing sleeve operating bracket running parallel to the front.
- the locking bracket pressed completely down for the time being, however free when reaching the end position and lies on the inside mentioned, spring-formed actuating bracket.
- the spring-loaded, very accessible actuating bracket are pressed inwards, which also automatically the locking bracket is pressed inwards and the connector is unlocked.
