Description

The invention relates to a multi-pole electrical Connector, which is a connector housing, one in front of it outstanding standard plug with a carrier block made of plastic for an electrical contact part and a Multi-core electrical lead into the rear of the connector housing Includes connection cable for the electrical contacts.

There are numerous different makes of plugs or Connector devices for low-voltage systems the market, especially for electrical connections to main communication and peripherals, for example ISDN, telephone, terminal and modem, as well as PC, host or data network systems. The connector devices include usually four to 16, but also more poles, like the contacts also be called. Illegal, incorrect, wrong, Connections that do not conform to the system, are of a different type or are harmful to the system have long been avoided by the connector certain geometric shapes and / or external dimensions to have.

Putting on unwanted plugs can also be done by coding can be avoided. Regarding the outer dimensions The connector system is the plug and socket insert standardized for certain number of poles educated. A particularly advantageous embodiment is described in EP, A1 0573396, where the coding system and the contact system of socket and plug in Plug direction spatially separated and independent of each other are. With such a coding system, the same geometric shape and / or outer dimensions a large Number of possible combinations can be used.

The coding can be done by a special coloring of Replaces, supports or supplements the plug and associated socket become. Today there are up to 30 different identification colors are available, which immediately catches a wrong insertion do. Additional coding prevents incorrect manipulation from the outset. The assignment is most convenient a color to a specific code. Of course can also assign different codes to one color be what practically unlimited combination possibilities allows.

A major disadvantage of this diversity is that that a large number of cables with both ends plugs must be kept in stock. Are connected accordingly high investments in cable and connector material, as well Storage and warehouse management costs.

The invention has for its object a multi-pole to create electrical plugs of the type mentioned at the beginning, which with unchanged great variety of uses Logistics problems reduced to a fraction.

The object is achieved in that the Connector housing in a cable-side connector housing termination and split an interchangeable connector housing sleeve which is in a contact with the connector housing termination Position can be releasably fixed and completely relieved of strain is. Special and further embodiments the invention are the subject of dependent claims.

Cable sheath, connector housing termination and carrier block of the Standard plugs, which are all made of plastic suitably kept in an inconspicuous, neutral color, also a possible one with the connector housing termination one-piece grommet, which protects the kink of the cable in the transition area to the plug.

The interchangeable connector housing sleeve, also made of Plastic is advantageously colored, at least 15 clearly different colors be available. It is preferably formed in one piece and via the electrical contact part of the standard plug slidable.

The connection cables available today with two terminals According to the invention, plugs are modularly disassembled. An Indian In practice, a sufficiently wide range consists of e.g. five various cable lengths and connector housing sleeves in 15 Colours. Instead of 75 prefabricated cables with both ends ready for use In this way, plugs only need five cables and 15 different colored connector housing sleeves kept in stock become. These can be assembled with a simple handle and the finished cable is characterized by a color code, as was previously only possible with a large storage effort was.

The colored connector housing sleeves can save space in relatively small boxes or the like can be stored. Connection cables, connector housings, grommets and support blocks for an electrical contact part are neutral dyed as a uniform unit for all identification colors.

The detachable fixation of the exchangeable connector housing sleeve expediently takes place with a known today widely used clip connection, for example a snap-in catch in a groove. It but are also snap fasteners, bayonet locks, Velcro fasteners etc. can be used, essential is a secure, connector housing termination and connector housing sleeve connection holding in adjacent position, which can be solved quickly and easily.

According to a first variant of the connector according to the invention is the connector housing termination, preferably with a Grommet, and the carrier block of the standard connector in one piece sprayed onto the terminal cable sheath of the connection cable. This sprayed-on unit is with the connector housing sleeve lockable, for example by two opposite Spring leg of the connector housing sleeve with a Snap in two opposite grooves of the support block for the electrical contact part. Here the locking lugs and the grooves are positioned so that the Connector housing sleeve is in contact with the connector housing termination, for example by lightly pressing two flat surfaces together are.

According to a second variant, the connection cable is merely cut to length, without further injection parts. The connector housing termination is, preferably with a molded spout as kink protection for the cable in the transition to the plug, can be pushed on educated. This slide-on part has the neutral color the connection cable, which simplifies storage, because all connector housings are the same color. The connector housing cover includes means for detachable Connect with a colored connector housing, which is in turn detachably connected to the standard plug. These means can, for example, in the direction of the cable end cantilever spring legs for locking with the connector housing sleeve be, which in turn with the standard plug is locked.

In both variants, the characteristic colored, integrally formed connector housing sleeves with a exchangeable in a few simple steps. Of course can be a variant on one connection cable, the other the other variant should be designed, essential is the same color code. This has the advantage that the Advantages of the first variant can be used at one end of the cable can. The other end of the cable can if necessary or desirable shortened as desired and then the second connector with the same characteristic color code.

The correct assignment of a plug to a socket can with the same geometric shape and dimension of the Plugs can be made absolutely safe by one in itself known coding system is used, preferably according to EP, A1 0573396. The coding combs are on the outer jacket of the Plug-in housing molded. For each variant there is one accordingly modified injection mold manufactured. The number Injection molding could also be reduced and one or more Coding combs can be separated individually. At six Comb / groove pairs result in 31 coding options. Become on the narrow sides of larger plugs instead of three each Four coding combs arranged, the number of possible variations increases already at 57, almost doubling.

A connector housing sleeve without coding combs or with complete separate coding combs can be encoded in any or uncoded socket insert.

It has proven to be advantageous in industrial use a certain coding color for a certain coding variant assign, although this means the potential for variation is not fully utilized.

Although coded connector housing sleeves interact with corresponding socket inserts the variety of secured Connector systems for multi-pole electrical Plug according to the present invention with the simplest means significantly expand the number of different Connector housing sleeves just doubled what that Storage volume increased only slightly. Of course can also be used exclusively for coded connector housing sleeves be stored, which by separating all coding combs become an uncoded shell.

To secure the plug in a socket insert the standard connector preferably one from the contact part protruding spring-loaded locking bracket with snap-in lugs on. When inserting the plug into the socket insert this bracket locks after reaching the End position automatically. This locking bracket is used to release with one finger pressed against the standard plug, and pulled out the unlocked connector, but what is not always easy to do.

According to a preferred embodiment of the present Invention, the connector housing sleeve has a right angle cantilevered, in the push-open direction of the connector housing sleeve operating bracket running parallel to the front. At the Sliding on the connector housing sleeve becomes the locking bracket pressed completely down for the time being, however free when reaching the end position and lies on the inside mentioned, spring-formed actuating bracket. Should the plug can be pulled out of the socket insert the spring-loaded, very accessible actuating bracket are pressed inwards, which also automatically the locking bracket is pressed inwards and the connector is unlocked.

As already indicated above, the connector housing is terminated according to all variants of the present invention preferably formed on a grommet, which in a train in the transverse direction acts as a kink protection for the connection cable.

In principle, a removed connector housing sleeve can easily can be used again. The low purchase price and the disposal problems of the halogen-free plastic a connector housing sleeve are so small that they not tediously sorted again, but a recycling process be fed. The locking tabs for connecting the connector housing termination with a connector housing sleeve can be designed so that when they are replaced the connector housing sleeve are broken off and so further use is automatically excluded.

The multipole electrical connector according to the invention offers a revolutionary improvement in all versions of logistics problems, which are reduced to a fraction become.
