Definitions

  • the invention relates to an object to be inflated, in particular an air mattress, with the features specified in the preamble of claim 1.
  • Such an object has become known from DE-GM 93 08 870.
  • a small-sized propellant is accommodated in the pump part. This enables the propellant to be introduced into the interior of the pump part only after the object to be inflated has been produced.
  • the use of small pieces of material means that the individual pieces can get caught together - so that within certain limits there can be a change in the restoring force, which becomes effective after the propellant is compressed. This also has the effect that an emotionally inconsistent counterforce is exerted on the sole of the foot of the user.
  • a propellant is a material that can be compressed, but increases its volume when it is decompressed and when air is admitted.
  • the invention is based on the object of developing an object of the type which is known to be such that, while maintaining the possibility of introducing the propellant only after the object has been produced, the restoring force remains constant.
  • the division of the block consisting of propellant material into individual layers ensures that a block working with constant restoring force is present, but that the individual layers can be introduced into the pump part through the air inlet opening after the object to be inflated has been produced.
  • the compact design of the block prevents small pieces from clogging the inlet opening or the foil valve.
  • the block design has the advantage that there is a constant feeling of area for the foot of the user.

  • Fig. 2 is a section along section line A-A of Fig. 1;
  • Fig. 4 shows a rolled layer before insertion.
  • the air mattress shown in FIG. 1 consists of a pump part 2 and a part 1 to be inflated.
  • the pump part 2 is in a corner the air mattress and separated by web walls 5 from the interior of the part 1 to be inflated.
  • a one-way outlet valve in the form of a foil valve 6 is formed in one of the web walls 5.
  • this web wall 5 there is also a small opening 7, which enables the low backflow of air from the part 1 to be inflated into the pump part 2.
  • the backflow of air can also be achieved through the leakage of the film valve 6, but this may take longer until the desired pressure equalization between the pump part 2 and the part 1 to be inflated is achieved.
  • a block 8 of open-celled plastic foam material consisting of layers 8a lying one above the other is provided as the propellant.
  • This block 8 is arranged inside the pump part 2 and is spaced both upwards and on all sides from the walls forming the pump part 2.
  • the layers 8a forming the block 8 have a central opening 9. This ensures that the inlet opening 3 cannot be added through the uppermost layer, even if the layers 8a shift somewhat against one another during operation. To prevent the inlet opening from becoming clogged, it would be sufficient if only the top layer 8a was provided with an opening 9. In the embodiment, all layers 8a are uniformly provided with an opening 9, which has the advantage that when - 4 -
  • edges of the layers 8a which are directed towards the film valve 6 and have a rectangular basic shape, have a concave recess. This ensures that even when the layers 8a lie against the web wall 5 carrying the film valve 6, sufficient air access to the film valve 6 is still ensured.
  • the layers 8a are introduced into the pump part 2 in the following way:
  • Each layer 8a is rolled up in the manner shown in FIG. 4.
  • the diameter of this roller can be somewhat larger than the diameter of the inlet opening 3, because the material is compressible and can be conveyed through the inlet opening 3 in the compressed state.
  • the rolled layer 8a by means of a pipe which engages with one end in the interior of the pump part 2 and by means of which the rolled layer 8a is pushed out of the pipe into the pump part 2 using a pressure stamp.
  • a pipe which engages with one end in the interior of the pump part 2 and by means of which the rolled layer 8a is pushed out of the pipe into the pump part 2 using a pressure stamp.
  • it can be useful be worked with talcum powder or with a nylon material as a sliding layer.
  • a tube in the form of a hinged sleeve is particularly advantageous.
  • the roller is inserted into the open sleeve and the roller is compressed when the sleeve is closed.
  • the roller is then also ejected into the interior of the pump part 2 using a pressure stamp.
  • the roll When using a hinged sleeve, the roll can be inserted laterally into the tube. Frictional forces then only occur when the roller is ejected.
  • the air mattress is inflated and deflated in the following way:
  • the air mattress is first rolled out. If the stopper 4 is now removed, then air can enter the interior of the pump part 2 through the inlet opening 3. When air enters, the propellant accommodated in the pump section 2 increases in volume until the pump section is reasonably filled with air. Now, for example, the pump part 2 is pressed together by the foot of the user, the foot of the user closing the inlet opening 3. Air is now pressed through the film valve 6 into the part 1 to be inflated. This pumping process is repeated until the part 1 to be inflated is inflated somewhat more than is desired in the end result.
  • the outlet opening is opened to empty the air mattress.
  • the air is then removed both from the pump part 2 and from the pump-up part 1 by exiting through the outlet opening. In this state, the air mattress is folded up and can be easily transported.
  • the cycle described can start again if the air mattress is used again.
