Macro deaeration is primarily the destruction of foam, while micro deaeration is the removal of very small air bubbles from the coating color.
- the coating color is conveyed by means of the feed pump 13 through the filter 14 into the ink container 21 of the coating color application device 15 and applied here to the paper web 18. Since the coating color has been deaerated to a large extent, the ink layer applied to the paper web 18 is at least largely free of microscopic air bubbles which could burst open and impair the surface of the now coated paper web 18. Coating ink is conveyed back from the ink container 21 to the vacuum mixing container 3. The coating color is fed to the application device 15 with an excess of about 25 to 40 °, i.e. it is fed to the application device 15 twenty-five to forty times as much coating color per unit of time, which is applied to the paper web 18 after passing the doctor blade 22.
