Definitions
- the invention relates to a protective plug, in particular an overvoltage protective plug in telecommunication systems according to the preamble of claim 1.
- the protective plug consists of a housing, the underside of which is formed by a printed circuit board, a surge arrester, a slide, a spring, an earth plate, a signaling lug, a soldering point, which melts when the surge arrester is heated to an inadmissible temperature and causes the slide to move, which in turn causes the Signaling nose to the outside.
- the invention is therefore based on the object to develop a protective plug for reliable protection against overvoltages, in which the soldering point is under minimal force and which is made up of only a few parts and enables automated production at low cost, and a triggering outside clearly visible.
- the coarse protection is implemented in a known manner with a surge arrester.
- the fail-safe mechanism connected to the surge arrester provides thermal protection if the surge arrester is overloaded by short-circuiting the telecommunication wires a, b to earth.
- This short-circuit mechanism is implemented by a slide, via which a red signaling element on the rear of the connector emerges from the connector in a clearly visible manner when an overvoltage occurs.
- the fail-safe contact is triggered by a solder molded part.
- the heating of the surge arrester causes the solder molded part to melt via a welded or clamped baffle.
- the solder molded part is under a minimal, precisely balanced spring force (pressure force) exerted by the slide, which lies at the limit of the self-locking of the slide. Decoupling of the support surface of the slide largely decouples the molded solder part and the spring force of the slide.
- the slide which is held by an edge on the housing during operation is released from the edge due to the melting of the solder molded part and the spring travel thus freed.
- the slide moves due to a compression spring mounted on it, which is supported on an inner wall of the housing.
- a red plastic part is arranged as a signaling element on the slide so that it is pivoted out of the plug when the slide moves to the rear and clearly shows the release.
- the one-piece housing and only a few built-in parts ensure cheap, automatable manufacture of the connector.
- the protective plug is provided in particular as an overvoltage protection plug for use in telecommunications systems in connection with terminal strips.
- the protective plug consists of an outer housing 1, the underside of which is closed off by a printed circuit board 2 with a surge arrester 3 and with fuse elements 26, from a slide 4 with a compression spring 8 and a solder molded part 7, from a signaling element 5 and from a ground plate 27.
- the protective plug is connected via the ground plate 27 to the ground rail 34 of a terminal block, not shown, and above it to the grounding of the protection system (FIG. 3).
- FIG. 2 shows a perspective view of the slide 4, which consists of a carrier part 9 and a leaf spring part 14, which are integrally connected to one another via a connection 18.
- the carrier part 9 has two mutually bent contact wings 10 (FIG. 4), which (none Overvoltage) lie on resting surfaces 28 of the printed circuit board 2 (FIG. 5), which have no electrical contact with the signal path.
- the contact wings 10 are pushed onto contact surfaces 29 of the printed circuit board 2 by the slide movement (FIG. 5), which lie in the signal path. With this movement, the lines a, b (Fig. 1,3,5) are grounded and the overvoltage is derived.
- the carrier part 9 contains a receptacle 11 (Fig. 1,4) for the helical spring 8, which is supported on the housing inner wall 31 (Fig. 4) and against whose spring force the slider 4 is inserted into the housing 1 of the protective plug.
- An electrical connection between the slide 4 and the ground plate 27 and a baffle 6 on the surge arrester 3 is established via a contact surface 12 of the carrier part 9 (FIG. 3), so that the overvoltage can be derived via the ground rail 34 of a terminal block (not shown) and the Surge arrester 3 is constantly connected to ground.
- a groove 13 at the rear end of the carrier part 9 serves to receive the signaling element 5 (Fig. 1.4).
- the leaf spring part 14 is formed from a long spring arm 30, at the resilient end 15 of which a web 16 is angled and shaped, and from an angled stop 19 behind the connection 18 of the leaf spring part 14 with the carrier part 9.
- the web 16 carries the solder molded part 7 and is integral with an angled support surface 17 is provided.
- the support surface 17 of the slide 4 is supported on an edge 20 of the housing 1 (FIG. 3) in such a way that, in the event of operation, the slide 4 hardly exerts any force on the solder molded part 7, which supports its spring arm 30, due to self-locking forces. Only in the event of an overvoltage, when the solder molded part 7 melts, does the support surface 17 slide off the edge 20 of the housing 1 and the slide 4 moves and causes the voltage dissipation against ground and the signaling of the overvoltage case.
- the dimensioning of the spring travel of the leaf spring part 14 and thus its contact force for the precisely correct loading of the solder molded part 7 and the dimensioning of the inclined position of the support surface 17 in connection with the edge 20 on the housing 1 are of great importance.
- the groove 13 of the carrier part 9 serves to pivot the signaling element 5 out of an opening 32 in the housing wall 33 (FIG. 4) when the slide 4 is moved to the rear.
- the slide 4 has the task of realizing the short circuit and signaling it.
- the side view of the opened protective plug shows the functional elements of the protective plug in their constructive context.
- the housing 1 is closed with the circuit board 2 down.
- the circuit board 2 carries the surge arrester 3 with the attached baffle 6, which connects the surge arrester 3 via the ground plate 27 in the upper part of the housing 1 and via the earth rail 34 of a terminal block, not shown, to earth.
- the slide 4 is in contact with its contact surface 12 (FIG. 2) via the ground plate 27 with the earth and via the solder molded part 7 with the guide plate 6 of the surge arrester 3.
- heat is conducted to the solder molded part 7 via the welded-on guide plate 6.
- the solder molded part 7 is under a light, precisely coordinated spring force (pressure force) of the slide 4.
- the slide 4 used as a fail-safe mechanism and for the optical signaling of an overvoltage is removed from it by the edge 20 on the housing 1 and released by the support surface 17 on the leaf spring part 14 of the slide 4 defined position due to the spring travel when the solder molding 7 melts due to the heating.
- the slide 4 moves due to the compression spring 8 mounted on it (as already described above), which is supported on the housing inner wall 31 (FIG. 4), backwards, ie away from the location of the surge arrester 3.
- the one on the slider 4 arranged two contact wings 10 (Fig.4) are pushed by the slide movement from the resting surfaces 28 to two contact surfaces 29 (Fig.5).
- the contact surfaces 29 are each contact points of the telecommunication conductors a, b.
- the wires a, b are connected to earth via the contact wings 10 arranged on the slide 4.
- the surge arrester 3 remains connected to earth in the short-circuited state.
- the contact is realized via the welded-on guide plate 6 and the ground plate 27 to the earth rail 34 (FIG. 3) of the terminal block (not shown).
- the earth is additionally connected to the surge arrester 3 via the solder molded part 7 and the guide plate 6.
- the red signaling element 5 (FIG. 1) is arranged or mounted on the slide 4 such that it is pivoted or rotated out of the plug when the slide 4 moves backwards.
- a housing-fixed bearing 21 (semicircular inner surface as a bearing) is provided in the housing 1 as a fixed fulcrum for the round outer surface 22 of the signaling element 5, a pin 23 being mounted in the groove 13 of the slide 4 (FIGS. 1.4).
- solder pads 25 are plated through to the underside of the printed circuit board 2 (FIG. 6).
- the safety caps are accessible from the outside with measuring tips and serve as measuring tapping points for the individual wires.

Description
- Fig. 1
- die Explosionsdarstellung der wesentlichen Bestandteile des Schutzsteckers,
- Fig. 2
- die perspektivische Darstellung des Schiebers,
- Fig. 3
- die Seitenansicht des geöffneten Steckers,

- Fig. 5
- die Draufsicht auf die Leiterplatte (Oberseite) und
