Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a device for occipital fixation of a helmet, in particular a helmet cyclist, as well as the helmet fitted with a device.
  • the helmet is held in a known manner by side straps but the helmet under the tremors repetitive due to ground movements undergoes in particular swiveling from front to back but also from back to front, which can be detrimental to safety and the wearer did not necessarily the possibility of immediately rectifying the positioning offering maximum security.
  • the helmet for to be effective must have a very precise positioning by report to the user's skull, otherwise the lesions can be very serious when the head is on the ground.
  • the lateral straps generally each form a V , one of the branches of this V being arranged upstream of the front / rear tilting point of the helmet and the other being arranged downstream so as to reduce this tilting effect.
  • the helmet must remain on the wearer's head without being torn off by the first shock or immediately before the first shock and we noticed that in many cases the helmet tends to be torn off under the effect of the first shock and the carrier is no longer found protected against possible subsequent shocks.
  • a light helmet described in the application EP-A-302 211 which presents a helmet not enveloping, substantially hemispherical in shape, like a cap, which includes two straps, one of which is fixed on the front includes a chin strap, and the other is attached to the base of the helmet at a rear point in its middle zone and the two free ends are connected on each side to the first strap.
  • the subjection to the head is limited because the strap is securely attached to the back of the helmet but it can follow the shape of the occipital part of the skull and slide on either side of this part occipital.
  • Document US-A-3 852 821 describes a fixing device adjustable occipital helmet including the features of the preamble of claim 1.
  • the present invention relates to a device for occipital fixation which limits forward / backward movement of the helmet, which is simple, which allows a very change rapid occipital support pad for better adaptation to the profile of the skull and its size for the same shell, which is comfortable, which turns automatically and effortless, which is adaptable for different areas cycling: track, mountain bike, road, cyclo-cross, bicycle tourism.
  • the occipital fixation device adjustable helmet in particular a bicycle helmet and more particularly of a follower of the mountain bike, including a shell designed to fit on the cyclist's skull and straps attached to the walls side of this hull and connected on each side in one single point equipped with a removable connection means to quick coupling and unhooking, and comprising a plate, integral and articulated relative to the rear edge of the helmet shell, a support pad occipital and at least one occipital strap, integral with this occipital support pad and plate is characterized in that the occipital strap is linked to the side straps and removable hook-and-loop connection and quick release.
  • this device includes, on the back of the helmet, a housing provided for receive the articulated plate, comprising a first part secured to the helmet, a second part articulated with respect to to the first with means for connecting a support pad occipital and at least one occipital strap secured to the second room.
  • the first part is an axis mounted transversely to the axis longitudinal of the helmet and the second piece is a plate oblong provided at one of its ends with a hole of a diameter identical to that of the axis, at the other end of connecting means of the occipital support pad and in position through a strap passage slot.
  • the axis comprises a groove median provided to receive the peripheral edge of the hole the plaque.
  • the means of connecting the skate occipital support on the second part include a overmolding in polymer material.
  • the edge hole peripheral includes a circular thinned lip whose internal diameter is between the diameter nominal of the axis and the diameter of the axis at the bottom of the groove so that the plate locks in translation in the groove of the axis.
  • the occipital support pad includes slots strap passage to ensure proper positioning lateral of the occipital strap on either side of the second room.
  • the support pad occipital is flexible and includes a comfort covering intended to cooperate with the occipital part of the skull of the user.
  • the plate comprises a short strap, secured to the helmet by one of its ends, the other end carrying a loop provided for receive the occipital strap and an occipital support pad free sliding on said occipital strap, by hand and on the other side of the short strap buckle.
  • the occipital strap is linked to the straps side and by means of a removable hooking connection and quick release.
  • the helmet is referenced 10, and 12 the shell, generally made of polystyrene.
  • This shell is of the non-enveloping type so that the internal shape of this shell sticks as close as possible to the shape of the wearer's skull and that it can easily be placed and removed.
  • This shell also comprises, in a known manner, a strap lateral 14, which pass through the thickness of the shell and whose the free ends are equipped with a connecting means removable 16 with quick coupling and unhooking.
  • a housing 18 has been provided in this shell 12 in which is mounted a plate 20 which comprises a first part 22 secured to this shell and a second moving part 24.
  • connecting means 26 of a pad occipital support 28 with an occipital strap 30 is also planned, always for this mode of preferential embodiment, connecting means 26 of a pad occipital support 28 with an occipital strap 30.
  • the first part 22 is a cylinder forming an axis 32 mounted on a hole 34 formed in the hull.
  • the cylinder 32 shown isolated in FIG. 2, includes a groove 36 in its middle part.
  • the second part 24 is an oblong plate 38 with a overmolding in polymer material constituting a layer 40, see figure 3. There is a hole 42 in this plate, the diameter of this hole being identical to that of axis 32 at game close.
  • the layer 40 extends inside the hole 42 to form a thinned lip 44 at the edge of the hole, the diameter inside of the circular lip being equal to the diameter of the axis 32 measured at the bottom of the groove 36.
  • the occipital support pad properly said 28 also includes slots 48 for passage of the occipital strap 30.
  • This occipital support pad is semi-rigid and includes a comfort covering, not shown, but generally and in particular in the illustrated case, identical to that of inside the helmet.
  • the shape of the second part and the support shoe occipital is studied to avoid disturbances aerodynamic and to present an anatomical profile.
  • the overmolding allows a effective connection of the occipital support pad 28 with the second room 24, while leading to a set monolithic.
  • the mounting of the device according to the invention is very simple. Just place the second part 24 in the housing 18 then introduce the pin 32 into the hole 34.
  • the shaft enters hole 34 in the shell and then into the hole 42 of the plate 38 forming the second part.
  • Lip 44 of very small width slides along of the axis. As soon as this lip meets the groove 36 of the axis 32, its stiffness allows it to hang in this throat, this which avoids mutual displacements in translation of the axis and of the second part, after assembly.
  • the second part and the support pad occipital which is integral with it, orient themselves in the plane longitudinal median by pivoting about the axis 32.
  • the strap 30 passes through the ends of the pad occipital and it is integral with the second part by passage through slot 46, with a possibility of sliding adjustment.
  • the support pad occipital is first moved back by pivoting downstream, which facilitates the introduction of the helmet then during latching of the removable connection means 16, the strap rear provides traction on the occipital pad which is found pressed against the lower occipital part under the occiput without any possibility of withdrawal.
  • Simultaneous traction on the front strap and locking under the chin provides excellent helmet securing on the skull by prohibiting not only any tearing but also by very significantly limiting the rocking movements of this helmet.
  • the dimensions of the occipital support pad can vary, or simply the positions of slots 46 and 48 strap guide as well as the connection point with the side straps 14 which allows a precise adjustment traction directions.
  • an occipital pad guides the rear strap, which prevents this strap to spread to the point of sliding along the walls side of the skull, as dangerously permitted the embodiments of the prior art.
  • stage 20 can be removed as easily as it is mounted.
  • FIG. 4 shows a variant which can find a more specific application for cycling on road.
  • the occipital support pad 280 includes a additional shock absorbing material 281.
  • Such means, including a cap are within the reach of ordinary skill in the art.
  • the helmet equipped with the device according to the invention has lateral stability interesting for the wearer.
  • the occipital support pad can also be semi-rigid or rigid depending on the application.
  • the operation of overmolding of the second part can be removed in favor of a manufacturing in a single operation of this second piece and skate.
  • Figure 5 Also shown in Figure 5 is another variant, simplified, which has all the qualities of security but whose less sophisticated layout does not provide not necessarily the same comfort, especially in the speed of adjustments for example.
  • the first and second parts 220, 240 of the plate 20 are simplified in this sense that the rear strap 30 is equipped with a pad 380 sliding and that it is itself sliding mounted in the loop 210 of a short strap 240 secured to the edge lower back of the helmet, this short strap forming the second room.
  • the first part 220 can be deleted because in this case the short strap 240 is likely to be attached to the helmet shell and its flexibility allows the same possibilities that an articulation of a rigid part.
