Definitions

  • the field of the present invention is that of containers capable of receiving a propellant charge and more particularly that of the containers used in the large caliber or tank artillery.
  • Modular containers have already been defined substantially cylindrical and made of combustible material. Thanks to their rigidity, such containers are easier to use than traditional powder sachets.
  • FR2672672 whose presentation is taken from the preamble of claim 1, describes a link device containers which comprises on the one hand a sliding ring and on the other hand hook-and-loop fastening means arranged on a front face of the container.
  • the means offered by FR2672672 are used delicate work. Indeed, so that the ring can slide it is necessary that the radial positioning of the two containers be correct.
  • the attachment means are assets regardless of the relative radial position of the two containers. This results in difficulty in positioning, then join the two containers together.
  • the invention thus provides a container comprising simple and inexpensive means of ensuring joining with a second container at one of its front faces.
  • Such a container can be linked quickly and easy with another container according to the invention, the detaching containers is just as easy.
  • the subject of the invention is a container which can contain a propellant charge and intended to be returned attached to a second container at one of its front sides, container with an envelope cylindrical made of a combustible material and comprising a ring which is slidably mounted at a first constriction, ring that can slide to come partially cover a second constriction on the second container, container characterized in that the ring carries a thread fitted on a front end, thread intended to come and engage on a thread integral with the second container, and in that the container has means ensuring radial positioning with the second container before screwing the ring.
  • the first constriction has an annular flange on which abuts a shoulder arranged at a level rear part of the ring so as to ensure axial immobilization of the containers when the ring covers the second neck of the second container.
  • the container has a sub-ring in solidarity with the first constriction and which carries the annular flange, sub-ring on which the ring is sliding rise.
  • the invention also relates to a container intended for be secured at one of its front faces from another container, container characterized in that it has a second constriction carrying a thread, intended for receive a threaded and sliding ring worn by the other container.
  • this receiver has a threaded ring in solidarity with the second constriction.
  • the radial positioning means may include a tubular extension intended to be housed in a complementary circular groove carried by another container.
  • the radial positioning means may include a circular groove intended to receive an extension complementary tubular carried by another container.
  • the radial positioning means may include a bowl with frustoconical profile which is placed in the center of the front face, bowl intended to receive a bulge complementary carried by another container.
  • the radial positioning means may also have a frustoconical profile bulge which is placed at the center of the frontal surface, bulge intended to be position in an additional bowl carried by a other container.
  • the container has a constriction at each of its ends, one of the necks carrying a thread and the other carrying a threaded sliding ring.
  • ring, ring or sub-ring preferably be made of plastic type High density polyethylene or polyamide.
  • a first container 1a is intended to be made integral with a second container 1b at its front face 2a. The latter will then in contact with the front face 2b of the second container.
  • Each container has a cylindrical shell 3a, 3b made of a combustible material such as nitrocellulose, cardboard or a mixture cardboard / nitrocellulose.
  • Envelopes are closed with caps end 4a, 4b which are also made of material combustible.
  • the caps are made integral with the envelopes by gluing at the cylindrical surfaces 5a, 5b.
  • Containers 1a and 1b are shown here so partial. They are intended to receive a propellant charge in grains or sticks (not shown).
  • the container 1b carries at its other end a projectile (not shown) which will be made integral with envelope 2 by a connecting ring (for example similar to that described by patent FR8712484).
  • the container carries it at its other end a base (not shown) fitted with an igniter tube (see for example the patent FR9101499 which shows the fixing of such a base on the envelope).
  • the plug 4b carries a profile bowl 6 frustoconical which is placed in the center of the front face 2b.
  • the plug 4a carries a bulge 7 with a profile frustoconical which is arranged in the center of the front face 2a.
  • the conical profiles of the bowl 6 and the bulge 7 are complementary and are intended to cooperate with one the other to allow relative radial positioning of the two containers before assembly.
  • Axial openings 22a and 22b are provided at the level of the front faces 2a and 2b of the container. These openings to facilitate flame transmission from one container to another when the charge is ignited propellant. They are closed in a known manner by means of combustible sheets (not shown here).
  • the end caps 4a and 4b each carry a constricted 8a, 8b whose maximum diameter D1 is less than about 10mm to the outer diameter D2 of the container.
  • the constriction 8a of the container 1a (hereinafter called first constriction) carries a sub-ring 9 fixed for example by collage.
  • This sub-ring is made of material plastic for example of the High density Polyethylene type or polyamide.
  • the sub-ring 9 bears on its cylindrical surface external 10 an annular collar 11.
  • a ring 12 is slidably mounted on the sub-ring 9.
  • the ring 12 is also made of material High density polyethylene or polyamide type plastic.
  • the ring has a shoulder 14 arranged at the level a rear part 13.
  • the ring also has at its front end 15 a thread 16.
  • the internal thread 16 has a diameter greater than the diameter external of the sub-ring 9, which allows the sliding of the ring on the sub-ring.
  • the shoulder 14 is intended for come into abutment on the flange 11 so as to limit axially the movement of the ring relative to the sub-ring.
  • the ring 12 When positioned on the sub-ring 9, the ring 12 with an external diameter D3 which is less than or equal to that (D2) of the container. Thus the ring 12 does not interfere with the placing the container in the weapon chamber.
  • the container 1b carries on its neck 8b (called thereafter second constriction) a ring 17 fixed for example by collage.
  • This ring is also made of plastic for example of the High density Polyethylene type or polyamide.
  • the ring 17 carries a thread 18 which is intended for receive the thread 16 of the ring 12.
  • Figure 2 shows the two containers 1a and 1b assembled by ring 12.
  • the containers were contacted one with the other at their front faces 2a, 2b.
  • the bowl 6 and the bulge 7 then ensure the alignment of the containers.
  • the bowl and the bulge thus constitute means ensuring good relative radial positioning of the two containers.
  • the ring 12 can slide and rotate freely relative to the sub-ring 9, its internal thread 16 can easily engage thread 18. It is therefore not necessary to angularly index a container relative to the other before making them united by means of the ring 12.
  • the ring 12 is screwed onto the ring 17 until its shoulder 14 comes into abutment on the flange 11 of the sub-ring 9.
  • the collar 11 thus ensures immobilization axial of the containers 1a and 1b when the ring covers the second constricted 8b of the second container.
  • the dimensions of the ring, the sub-ring and the ring will be defined so that this axial immobilization can be achieved.
  • the first constricted 8a will be given a double the length of the second constricted 8b, and we will also give the ring 12 and its sub-ring 9 a length double that of ring 17.
  • the collar 11 will be placed so as to allow the ring to slide equal to the half its length.
  • the material of the ring, the sub-ring and the ring breaks up when the propellant charge under the effect of gas pressure.
  • areas of embrittlement obtained for example by localized heating or by machining.
  • the separation of the two containers is obtained easily and quickly by unscrewing the ring 12 from the ring 17.
  • Figures 3 and 4 show containers in a second embodiment of the invention.
  • the front faces 2a and 2b of these containers are flat and therefore do not have a bowl or bulge.
  • the threaded ring 17 carried by the container 1b comprises a tubular extension 19 of external diameter less than that of the ring.
  • the sub-ring 9 has at its front part a counterbore 20 which delimits with the first constriction 8a a groove circular 21.
  • the groove 21 is intended to receive the extension tubular 19, it therefore has a width equal to the thickness of the extension 19.
  • Chamfers are arranged so as to facilitate the mounting of the extension 19 in the groove 21.
  • Figure 4 shows the containers of Figure 3 after assembly.
  • the groove 21 and the tubular extension 19 constitute the means ensuring good radial positioning relative of the two containers. They thus ensure the function which was fulfilled in the embodiment previously described by the bowl and the bulge arranged on the faces container front ends.
  • Such an embodiment simplifies the container manufacturing by making it possible to flat front faces. It also ensures a more rigid radial positioning which facilitates screwing of the ring on the ring.
  • Figure 5 shows a modular type container according to the invention.
  • This container made of material fuel, is intended to be assembled with other completely identical containers in order to constitute a propellant artillery charge.
  • It consists of a combustible envelope 3, closed at one end by a plug 4a which carries a first constricted 8a and at the other end by a plug 4b carrying a second constriction 8b.
  • the first constriction 8a carries a sub-ring 9 and a ring 12, the second constricted 8b carries a ring 17.
  • the sub-ring 9 has a countersink 20 defining a circular groove 21, the ring 17 has an extension tubular 19.
  • the cylindrical envelope was closed by two fuel caps carrying a neck.
  • the envelope is shaped in a suitable mold. This avoids a delicate operation of fixing by gluing of the cap on the envelope.
  • tubular extension will be integral with the plug and / or the circular groove will be fitted in the cap.
  • plug and ring or plug and sub-ring constitute one and the same room.
  • these weakening zones obtained for example by heating localized or by machining.
