Definitions
- the invention relates to a double exciter for angular diversity for illuminating the parabolic reflector of an antenna, consisting of two closely spaced and parallel tubular components, the axes of which run parallel to the central axis of the reflector, to each of which at least one waveguide for guiding a linearly polarized electromagnetic Shaft is connected and the end faces facing the reflector are open, while their end faces facing away from the reflector are closed (DE-OS 38 29 370).
- the radio waves are damped. This means that only a part of the emitted transmission energy can be picked up again by the receiving antenna.
- This so-called basic transmission loss depends on the frequency and the length of the transmission path used.
- additional attenuations commonly referred to as "fading” include the signal fading caused by diffraction at obstacles due to the obstruction of free wave propagation, the fading caused by multipath propagation in the case of reflections from atmospheric layers, on the surface of the earth and on buildings, and the fading caused by precipitation or atmospheric disturbances Damping.
- the double exciter according to DE-OS 38 29 370 mentioned at the outset is intended for angular diversity. It is composed of two milled axial grooved horns as exciters.
- the tubular components designed for a frequency of 9 GHz and serving as polarization switches are each suitable for guiding two linearly polarized waves lying orthogonally to one another. They are located directly next to each other at a relatively short distance.
- one of the two exciters always receives a sufficiently strong signal.
- This double exciter is particularly suitable for higher frequencies because the aperture diameter of the exciter decreases with increasing frequency. This principle can no longer be used at lower frequencies around 6 GHz, since the two radiation lobes move too far apart. The power drop at the point of intersection of the two radiation lobes is therefore high.
- there is a mutual influence of the two pathogens in their radiation characteristics. Optimal illumination of the reflector of an antenna is no longer guaranteed.
- the invention has for its object to design the double exciter described above so that it can be used with only a slight drop in performance even at lower frequencies.
- This construction of the double exciter makes it possible to reduce the excitation distance to a level that allows undisturbed transmission even at lower frequencies, for example in the 6 GHz range.
- the power drop at the point of intersection of the two radiation lobes is thereby kept low. It is at most 3 dB.
- this will be reduced Dimensions of the pipe sections and their eccentric arrangement achieved, which together with the tubular components and the transitions form a tubular exciter.
- the dielectric material in the pipe sections which has a suitable relative dielectric constant ensures that the lower frequency band used can be propagated despite the small dimensions of the pipe sections.
- the continuous, reflection-adapted transition between the components and the pipe sections guarantees trouble-free guidance of the waves in the exciters.
- both exciters have a square cross section.
- FIG. 1 schematically shows an exciter for illuminating the parabolic reflector of an antenna, which consists of a tubular component 1, a transition 2 and a pipe section 3. These three sections of the one-piece pathogen are delimited by dash-dotted lines.
- the exciter is closed at the other axial end. In a preferred embodiment, it has a rectangular cross section. However, it is also possible to make the exciter circular.
- Tubular component 1, transition 2 and pipe section 3 have the same cross-sectional shape.
- the pipe section 3 has smaller dimensions than the component 1. It is arranged eccentrically with respect to the component 1, so that the exciter has a surface line or side wall 5 which extends in a straight line over its entire length.
- the center lines of component 1 and pipe section 3 are offset from one another by the distance E.
- a waveguide 6 is connected to the component 1 for guiding the wave received or to be radiated. If two linearly polarized, orthogonal waves are to be transmitted, a second waveguide 7 is connected to the component 1, which is preferably attached to the end face of the exciter. At least one short-circuit element is mounted in component 1 between the feed points of the two waveguides 6 and 7.
- the waveguides 6 and 7 preferably have a rectangular cross section. But they can also be oval.
- the length of the continuously executed transition 2 between component 1 and pipe section 3 depends on the frequency to be transmitted and on the dimensions of these two sections of the exciter.
- the transition 2 is in any case adapted so that the smallest possible reflections of the waves guided in the exciter occur.
- the double exciter can also be used in the 6 GHz range for a frequency band from 5.925 GHz to 6.425 GHz. So that the frequencies with the small dimensions of the tube pieces 3 and the small excitation distance are still capable of being propagated, dielectric material 8 is arranged in the tube portions 3 of the two exciters.
- the double exciter with waveguides 6 and 7 for the double polarized version is shown in FIG. 4.
- the waveguides 6 and 7 are shown according to their correct position.
- the exciters are square.
- the tubular components 1 have an edge length of 32.0 mm, for example.
- the edge length of the pipe sections 3 is then, for example, 21.1 mm.
- a stable, easy-to-process polyethylene with a relative dielectric constant of 2.3 and a loss angle of 0.0002 is used for the dielectric material 8.
- the excitation distance A is then 28 mm.
- the double exciter constructed in this way can be used for the 6 GHz range. When using dielectric material with a larger relative permittivity, the exciter could also be used for even lower frequencies.
- a continuous transition (taper), as shown in FIG. 3, has proven to be particularly expedient.
- the double exciter shown in FIGS. 2 and 4 can be arranged in different positions in relation to the reflector of the antenna.
- one of the exciters as the main exciter can lie directly on the antenna axis R (FIG. 5).
- the other pathogen with a correspondingly lower profit is then used only in the event that the main pathogen is not sufficiently strong Signal is received more.
- the antenna axis R is also shown in the directional diagram according to FIG. 5, in which the relative field strength is plotted in dB over the elevation angle in degrees.
- the double exciter can also be arranged so that both exciters are symmetrical to the antenna axis R.
- the two radiation lobes are then the same size. They are symmetrical to the antenna axis R.
- the double exciter is dimensioned so that the level of the field strength at point P, at which the two radiation lobes overlap, drops by a maximum of 3 dB compared to the maximum value.

Abstract
Description
- Fig. 2 eine Draufsicht auf einen Doppelerreger.
- Fig. 4 eine perspektivische Darstellung des Doppelerregers.
- Fig. 5 ein Richtdiagramm.
