Definitions

  • the invention relates to a device for filling a cylindrical container with shaped, e.g. Granular or tablet-shaped filling material, the container standing in a receptacle and the filling material brought up by a conveyor falling into the filling opening of the container in a metered manner.
  • shaped e.g. Granular or tablet-shaped filling material
  • Such a device is known from DE-A-2 240 811 (GB-A-1 336 422).
  • the container stands on a rotating platform that pushes in the direction of its axis of rotation during the filling process.
  • a central accumulation of the filling material is distributed in the wall area of the container as a result of acting pulling forces.
  • containers can be filled in a simple manner by pouring in the filling material. If necessary, filling aids such as funnels make filling easier.
  • the filling material distributes itself arbitrarily in the container, bridges are formed and it can happen that the same container holds different amounts of filling material.
  • the contents can be metered into the container.
  • Vibratory conveyors with linear or circular conveying sections are particularly suitable as conveyors.
  • the dosed filling material can be better distributed in the container, but a uniform, tight filling is not guaranteed.
  • the filling quantity is considerable, e.g. with the propellant charge for an impact bag.
  • Impact bags are installed in motor vehicles as occupant protection.
  • a reaction is triggered in the propellant charge, which causes the folded impact bag to fill with gas at the moment.
  • the propellant consists of tablets, filled in a container.
  • the filling quantity of the container determines the gas quantity, the filling density and the tablet shape influence the course of the reaction over time.
  • the container is dimensioned so that it holds a predetermined amount of tablets when filled. The initial filling level of the container must be maintained when using the motor vehicle. If the tablets are subsequently loosened due to vibrations in the motor vehicle, the tablets rub against one another and pulverize. The time course of the reaction is adversely affected.
  • the object is achieved in that the receptacle of the device swings and consequently sets the container to be filled in a shaking rotary movement about its axis and the filling material falls off the axis into the container.
  • the quantity supplied by the conveyor in metered quantities falls into the container in the case of containers with a correspondingly large filling opening and with the appropriate alignment of the conveyor outlet and container receptacle, in addition to the axis of rotation of the rotating container.
  • the contents are distributed over continuously changing container sections; a local accumulation of the contents is avoided.
  • the shaking movement of the container promotes fine distribution.
  • bridging is dissolved.
  • the individual particles of the filling material lie against one another in a mutual orientation. With increasing filling, tablet-shaped particles form adjacent columns, with almost no interspaces that can be dissolved. A maximum filling density is achieved in this way.
  • the filling material is metered by a conveyor to the filling opening of the container and then falls directly or, if necessary, through a funnel into the container.
  • the conveyor can be, for example, a screw conveyor, belt conveyor, vibratory conveyor or any other known conveyor.
  • the conveyor used is selected based on its suitability for the product to be conveyed. It is particularly important that this can be fed in a metered manner.
