Definitions

  • the invention relates to a method according to the preamble of claim 1 and a device according to the preamble of claim 3.
  • a device in which the envelopes are preferably opened by cutting on two long and one short side.
  • the envelopes are then conveyed horizontally into a removal device, which consists of a conveyor belt on which the envelopes rest and above which a vacuum drum is arranged, which sucks the upper envelope side and folds upwards. Only one cover page is pulled off to the side. The other cover page is conveyed in a straight line with the content. There is a risk that the contents of the envelope will be sucked in with the upper side of the envelope and thus also folded away. As a result, the removal is at least incomplete.
  • a device is known from US Pat. No. 4,295,321, through which the envelope, which is open on two short and one long side, is fed to a vacuum drum which sucks in one open envelope side and thus conveys the envelope downward.
  • the content is captured by a take-off roll.
  • the vacuum drum only grips one side of the cover and pulls down the entire cover due to the connection on the long edge that is not open.
  • the invention is based on the object of providing a method and a device of the type mentioned at the outset, the device having a compact structure so that the envelope only has to travel short distances, different envelope formats can be processed at the same time and the contents are removed automatically .
  • the envelope is opened on one short and two long edges. It is not only opened on a short edge.
  • the envelope opened in this way is conveyed standing on one of the open long edges to the removal device, in which the two sides of the envelope are pulled off to the left and right, preferably by approximately 90 °.
  • the content is moved in a straight line and is therefore practically removed or can also be used for further processing.
  • the removal takes place completely automatically.
  • the short, non-open rear edge in the direction of transport supports the removal movement by pulling off the two cover pages to the left and right, and the rear edge acting accordingly on the cover contents in the direction of its desired straight-line movement.
  • the opening of the second, long edge is carried out standing immediately before entering the extraction device.
  • By pulling off the cover pages on the left and right it is either visually or by means of appropriate sensors that it can be recognized whether the entire content is actually being moved in a straight line. Since the removal is practically completely automatic, the operator can concentrate on monitoring and possibly sorting.
  • the moving parts are essentially relatively slowly rotating parts, so that the noise is low.
  • the device shown in the drawing enables envelopes of various sizes to be processed simultaneously. Sorting is therefore not necessary.
  • the envelopes are simply stacked with a short edge to the right in the input slot 1.
  • In the area of this input shaft 1 there are toothed belts 2 which transport the stack of envelopes by means of a feed weight 3 in the direction of a removal suction arm 4.
  • Retention fingers 5 are coupled to a sensor 6. These ensure the correct position of the inserted envelopes.
  • An envelope is then removed from the shaft by the suction arm charged with vacuum and placed on the transport level 7. This is where the separation takes place.
  • a continuously driven rubber roller 8 serves as a register for correct positioning to open the short edge of the cover.
  • three toothed belts 10 with transport cams 11 are arranged in the transport plane 7.
  • the arrangement is selected so that at different sizes of the envelopes at least two of the three transport cams are engaged with the envelope for a positive transport in the direction of the first cutting mechanism. This becomes clear when looking at FIGS. 1 and 2 in connection with FIG. 7.
  • the envelope is transported with its long edge to a leading edge 13 of a second cutter 14 and positioned there (see also FIG. 8). During this processing and movement, the envelope practically lies in the transport plane 7, which can be seen in FIGS. 7 and 8.
  • a chain drive 15 with transport fingers 16 (see FIG. 8) is arranged above the transport plane 7.
  • the transport fingers 16 are used to move the envelope into the second cutter 14 to open it on a long envelope edge.
  • the envelope opened in the second cutter 14 (see FIGS. 1 and 2) is conveyed by the second cutter 14 against a right side wall 17 of the transport plane 7 (FIG. 2).
  • a rocker 18 with a continuously driven rubber roller 19 is arranged under the transport plane (see FIG. 6).
  • the rubber roller 19 transports the envelope when it protrudes into the transport plane in a pocket 20 of a turning station arranged in the direction of movement.
  • a second rubber roller 21 mounted on the pivot point of the rocker 18 ensures correct positioning.
  • the pocket 20 is pivotable through 90 ° to set up an envelope moved into it, i.e. to bring it into a vertical position.
  • the folded envelope also reaches a lower-lying transport surface 22, in which the third cutter 23 is arranged.
  • the envelope is here on its still closed second long side. It is raised in the pocket 20 by the dimension x (see FIG. 6) and aligned on the transport surface 22.
  • An eccentric 24 is used to insert the envelope into the third cutter 23 with the aid of friction.
  • This third cutter 23 opens the lower longitudinal edge of the envelope and thereby transports it in the direction of the actual removal device or take-off device.
  • This is formed by two standing suction cylinders 25 and 26.
  • a sensor 27 controls the application of openings 28 of the two suction cylinders with negative pressure and starts the rotary movement of the suction cylinders.
  • the sensor 27 itself is stationary.
  • the positioning of the openings 28 of the two suction cylinders takes place by means of a sensor 29 and a clutch-brake combination on a drive axle 30.
  • the rotary movement of this drive axle 30 is transmitted to the other rotary-driven parts by means of belts and gearwheels, as is the case when viewing FIG. 3 becomes clear.
  • a pair of gears 31 drives the suction cylinder 26. This is resiliently mounted on a rocker 32 to ensure adaptation to different envelope thicknesses.
  • Two rails 34 serve to strip the cover pages U and V after the deflection by the suction cylinders and after the vacuum has been switched off, triggered by the sensor 33 (see FIG. 5).
  • a front friction roller 35 serves to fan out one cover side U.
  • a second friction roller arranged opposite is spring-mounted and pulls the cover on the other cover side V in a force-locking manner into an ejection path 37.
  • the envelope opened on a short and a long side in a more or less conventional manner is, after being set up, conveyed upright through the pocket 20 into the third cutting mechanism 23, in order to be opened at the long edge which is still closed and then at the bottom.
  • this cutting tool 23 forms a compact unit with the actual removal device.
  • the faster running friction roller 35 fans out the cover page U.
  • the other friction roller 36 detects the other cover page V and moves it into the discharge path 37. This movement of practically the entire cover, which still connects the two sides U and V on one short side, acts on the cover contents and supports this closed rear edge the transport movement by the pair of rollers 38. This practically takes place automatically. The recording and processing by appropriate subsequent devices is possible.
  • the inside of the envelope is clearly recognizable by the operator due to its stretched arrangement, so that visual inspection is possible. This control can also be carried out automatically by sensors.
  • the envelope is then ejected by an ejector roller 39.
  • each suction cylinder 25, 26 has two suction sections 25A, 25B and 26A, 26B.
  • the bearing can be recognized by the corresponding shafts.
  • the supply of negative pressure to the openings 28 takes place via a negative pressure source 40 and a rotatable suction air duct 41, which establishes a connection to a bore in each drive shaft.
  • the gears 31 shown in Fig. 3 and corresponding drive means and the storage of the parts can also be seen.
  • FIG. 3 an envelope is shown immediately when entering the area of the suction cylinder.
  • Fig. 4 the processing has advanced further, i.e. the envelope is just leaving the third cutter 23 and the envelope pages U and V have already been deflected so that the envelope content Z has reached the area of the rollers 38. Approximately this position is also indicated in Fig. 1. It can be clearly seen that the envelope is conveyed upright into the region of the removal device, and that the envelope content is conveyed and removed in a straight line, so that there is a high degree of certainty that the entire contents are gripped by the pair of rollers 38. The inside of the redirected cover pages U and V is clearly visible, so that it can be recognized if the entire envelope content has not been pulled off in a straight line.
  • the device is very compact.
  • the construction and drive unit of the third cutting unit with the removal device contributes to this.
