Abstract
Description
- Die Erfindung betrifft einen Formzylinder in einer Offsetdruckmaschine für eine löschbare Direktbebilderung mit einem auf einen Zylinderkörper aufziehbaren Zylindermantel mit hydrophiler bzw. hydrophilierbarer Oberfläche.
- Aus der DE-PS 36 36 129 ist ein gattungsgemäßer Formzylinder bekannt. Diese Art eines Formzylinders weist einen Zylindermantel mit einer druckenden Oberfläche auf, die wärmeisolierende Eigenschaften und einen hydrophilen Charakter besitzt. Dem Formzylinder ist eine Bildinformations-Übertragungseinheit innerhalb der Druckmaschine zugeordnet, über die die Bildinformation in Form von farbannehmenden Flächenelementen auf die Oberfläche der Druckform übertragen wird. Die Bildinformation ist löschbar und der Formzylinder innerhalb der Druckmaschine für eine Bildänderung erneut umschreibbar. Die Feuchtmittelversorgung des Formzylinders wird in der im Offsetdruck üblichen Weise mittels zusätzlicher Feuchtauftragswalzen bzw. Feuchtreiber vorgenommmen.
- In der US-PS 4 967 663 wird die Anwendung einer ungravierten Dosierwalze aus poröser Keramik vorgeschlagen, bei der die Poren der Keramik die Funktion haben, die Farbflüssigkeit anstatt von Farbnäpfchen aufzunehmen. Die Herstellung eines porösen keramischen Zylinders ist Stand der Technik und auch am Beispiel einer Dosierwalze in der US-PS 4 967 663 im einzelnen beschrieben. Porengröße und Anzahl der Poren wird durch den Zusatz organischer Füllstoffe zur Keramikmasse eingestellt. Die organischen Füllstoffe verbrennen beim Brennen der Keramik, zurück bleibt ein poröser Keramikkörper. Geeignete organische Füllstoffe sind z. B. gemahlene Walnußschalen, Holzpulver, Strohpulver, Fischöl, etc.
- In der DE-PS 38 40 137 ist eine andere Möglichkeit zur Herstellung eines porösen keramischen Skeletts offenbart. Ein Kunststoffschaum, z. B. Polyurethanschaum wird in eine Keramiksuspension getaucht. Beim Brennen der Keramik brennt der Kunststoffschaum heraus, zurück bleibt eine sogenannte Schaumkeramik. Auf diese Weise lassen sich Porendurchmesser zwischen 3 und 100 µm, sowie eine Porosität zwischen 2 und 90 % einstellen.
- Aufgabe der Erfindung ist es, einen porösen Keramikzylinder so auszubilden, daß er als direktbebilderbarer und löschbarer, d. h. wiederverwendbarer Formzylinder einsetzbar ist und zu dem ohne zusätzliche Feuchtauftragswalzen und Feuchtreiber Feuchtmittel zur Oberfläche des Formzylinders zuführbar ist.
- Die Lösung dieser Aufgabe gelingt erfindungsgemäß durch einen Formzylinder der eingangs genannten Art, bei welchem der Zylindermantel eine Mehrzahl von Poren aufweist, die im wesentlichen gleicher Größe und gleichmäßig verteilt sind. Die Porengröße und die Anzahl` der Poren ist herstellungsmäßig einstellbar. Die bevorzugte Porösität liegt zwischen 20 und 45 %. Eine vorteilhafte Maßnahme besteht darin, den Durchmesser der Poren in der Weise zu variieren, daß er von der Innenseite des Zylindermantels zur Außenseite desselben hin abnimmt und sich in der Größenordnung von 3 bis 100 µm bewegt. Die Poren des keramischen Zylindermantels kommunizieren miteinander. Durch den Walzenkörper ist Feuchtmittel in der Weise führbar, daß das Feuchtmittel durch die Poren des Zylindermantels an die Oberfläche desselben gelangen kann. Die Feuchtmittelführung durch den Zylinderkern geschieht in an sich bekannter Weise, wie sie bei der Kühlung von Feucht- oder Farbreibern angewendet wird. Zwischen Zylindermantel und Zylinderkern ist ein Feuchtmittelraum vorgesehen, in den Feuchtmittelzuführ- bzw. Ablaufleitungen münden.
- Geeignete poröse Keramiken für die der Erfindung zugrundeliegende Anwendung sind z. B. Aluminiumoxid (Al₂O₃), Zirkonoxid (ZrO₃), Cordierit (Al-Mg-Silikat), Steatit (Mg-Silikat) oder Siliciumcarbid (SiC).
- Materialien aus denen poröse Formzylinder hergestellt werden können sind neben Keramik auch Glas oder Metalle bzw. Metallegierungen. Die pulvermetallurgische Herstellung von Filtern aus Sintermetall, auch in Form von Rohren, ist Stand der Technik, ebenso, wie die gezielte Einstellung unterschiedlicher Porengrößen und Porenverteilungen. Als Werkstoffe kommen insbesondere Bronzen und Crom-Nickel-Legierungen zum Einsatz.
- Ein Ausführungsbeispiel der Erfindung ist in der Zeichnung schematisch dargestellt. Es zeigt

- In Fig. 1 ist ein Formzylinder 1 in räumlicher Darstellung zu sehen, der einen Zylinderkern 2 beliebigen Materials, z. B. Eisen, und einen darauf überzogenen Zylindermantel 3 aus poröser Keramik aufweist. Eine vorteilhafte Maßnahme bei hoher Porösität des Zylindermantels 3 besteht darin, zur besseren mechanischen Stabilisierung des Zylindermantels 3 einen Zylinderkörper aus Stahl zu verwenden.
- Fig. 2 zeigt einen Ausschnitt der bebilderbaren Oberfläche 4 des Zylindermantels 3. Sie besitzt einen hydrophilen Charakter und weist gleichmäßig verteilte, zur Oberfläche 4 hin offene Poren 5 im wesentlichen gleicher Größe auf.
- Fig. 3 zeigt nochmals den Formzylinder 1 im Schnitt. Zwischen dem Zylindermantel 3 und dem Zylinderkern 2 ist im Druckbereich der Oberfläche 4 des Zylindermantels 3 ein an den Stirnseiten durch den Zylinderkörper 2 und im Umfang durch den Zylindermantel 3 begrenzter ein Feuchtmittelraum 6 vorgesehen. Ober Feuchtmittelzuführ- bzw. Abführleitungen durch den Walzenkern 2 ist Feuchtmittel dem Feuchtmittelraum zuführbar und gelangt durch die miteinander kommunizierenden Poren 5 des keramischen Zylindermantels 3 an die Oberfläche 4 desselben.
- Der grundsätzliche Aufbau und die Wirkungsweise der Feuchtmittelzufuhr eines Zylinders ist im Zusammenhang mit gekühlten Feucht- bzw. Farbreibern an sich bekannt und bedürfen daher im vorliegenden Zusammenhang keiner eingehenden Erläuterung mehr.
- Ein solch endloser aus poröser Keramik hergestellter Zylindermantel 3 kann z. B. über Thermotransfer-, Ink-jet- oder ähnlichen Verfahren direkt mittels einer Bildinformations-Übertragsungseinheit innerhalb der Druckmaschine bildmäßig beschrieben werden. Die Feuchtung der Oberfläche 4 des Zylindermantels 3 erfolgt direkt aus dem Inneren des porösen keramischen Formzylinders 1. Dies hat den besonderen Vorteil, daß keine zusätzlichen Feuchtauftragswalzen und/oder Feuchtreiber notwendig sind.
- An den Stellen, an denen auf der Oberfläche 4 des keramischen Zylindermantels 3 bildmäßig aufgebrachtes, farbannehmendes Material sitzt, sind die Poren 5 verstopft, das Feuchtmittel kann nicht bis an die Oberfläche 4 gelangen, so daß in gewünschter Weise farbführende und wasserführende Bereiche auf der Oberfläche 4 des Zylindermantels 3 entstehen. Zur wiederholten Verwendung des Formzylinders 1 muß die Bebilderung entfernt werden. Dies kann z. B. durch Niederdruckplasmabehandlung, Abbrennen mit einer Knallgasflamme oder mechanisches Abschleifen erfolgen. Bei einem weiteren Löschverfahren, daß sich die Porösität des Formzylinders 1 zu Nutze macht, werden vom inneren des porösen Zylinders 1 heißer Wasserdampf oder andere heiße Gase zugeführt, die die Bebilderung von der Druckformoberfläche 4 abheben bzw. absprengen. Vorteilhaft bei diesem Löschverfahren ist, daß der Angriff zur Entfernung der Bebilderung direkt an der kritischen Stelle, d. h. an den Stellen, an denen das bildmäßig aufgebrachte Material sitzt, erfolgt und nicht erst einige Atomlagen bildmäßig aufgebrachtes Material erweicht werden müssen, bevor die entscheidende Schwächung der Adhäsion zwischen oleophilem Material und Druckformoberfläche 4 erfolgen kann.
Claims (5)
- Formzylinder in einer Offsetdruckmaschine für eine löschbare Direktbebilderung mit einem auf einen Zylinderkörper aufziehbaren Zylindermantel mit hydrophiler bzw. hydrophilierbarer Oberfläche, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß der Zylindermantel (3) eine Mehrzahl von Poren (5), die im wesentlichen gleicher Größe und gleichmäßig verteilt sind, aufweist, wobei die Porengröße und die Anzahl der Poren (5) einstellbar ist und durch den Walzenkörper (2) in der Weise Feuchtmittel führbar ist, daß das Feuchtmittel durch die Poren (5) und die Oberfläche (4) des Zylindermantels (3) gelangen kann.
- Formzylinder nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die Porosität zwischen 20 und 45 % eingestellt ist.
- Formzylinder nach einem der vorangehenden Ansprüche, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß der Porendurchmesser von der Innenseite des Zylindermantels (3) zur Außenseite desselben hin variiert.
- Formzylinder nach einem der vorangehenden Ansprüche, dadurch gekennzeichnet daß, der Zylinderkörper (2) bei hoher Porosität des Zylindermantels (3) zur besseren mechanischen Stabilisierung desselben aus Stahl gefertigt ist.
- Formzylinder nach einem der vorangehenden Ansprüche, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß der poröse Zylindermantel (3) aus Keramik, Glas oder metallischen Werkstoffen besteht.
