Definitions
- the invention relates to methods and devices for packaging objects with a tubular plastic film.
- it relates to methods for packaging stacked goods which are deposited on a pallet, the packaging being carried out by means of suitable devices in which elements reaching into the interior of the film section required for packaging pull the film tube apart and over the goods to be packaged .
- a corresponding device for packaging objects with a tubular plastic film is known for example from DE-OS 37 07 877.
- this consists of a horizontal frame movable on a stand in the vertical direction, the clear cross-section of which is larger than the maximum cross-section of the object to be packaged, from a feed device for feeding sheet-like or tubular plastic film from a supply roll to the frame and two opposite brackets mounted on the frame, which can be moved towards and away from each other.
- a finger element is arranged on each of the brackets, which engages in the interior of the tubular plastic film, and a push-on device for pushing a preselectable length section of the scapa-shaped plastic film onto the finger elements.
- a preselected length section is pushed onto the finger elements by the push-on device.
- the plastic film is stretched and by moving the horizontal frame down, it is at least applied to the side surfaces of the object.
- a suitable degree of stretching is about 20% to 30%, with stretching up to 50% being possible. Since the preselected film section is completely pulled off the finger elements at the end of the downward movement of the horizontal frame, the disadvantage of this device is that an often desired vertical stretching of the film to increase the stability of the packaging is not possible.
- the required strength of the packaging results from the resilience inherent in the plastic material at the usual ambient temperature. It has been shown that this clamping force is variable depending on the ambient temperature.
- the film tube section required for packaging was not 100% gathered on the finger elements, so that a film section area remained above the finger elements that was not stretched horizontally. This area served as an abutment for vertical stretching when the film was pulled over the packaged goods. A non-packaged area remains on the surface of the packaged goods. The overhang remaining on the top worsens the appearance of the packaged goods and offers a surface for wind. When stacking packaged goods, damage to the surface by forklift tines can therefore hardly be avoided. Furthermore, the existing storage space cannot be used optimally.
- the present invention has for its object to improve methods and devices for packaging objects with a tubular plastic film of the type mentioned above, regardless of the type of film used, the same required stability of the packaging assembly is always guaranteed that damage to the packaging by undefined arranged film areas excluded and the uniformity is given with regard to the outer appearance of the packaged units.
- the film section required for packaging is welded to the edge remote from the packaged goods, so that a film hood is formed which is gripped and folded out by the gripping elements, so that pockets are formed which result from the folding of the film tube result, which are closed below with suitable means.
- a film hood is advantageously formed, in which the upper surface is also completely included in the horizontal stretching, so that a subsequent loosening of the film and thus a reduction in the stability of the packaging composite is excluded. Furthermore, the formation of cracks is largely ruled out since there are no more transition areas.
- the combination of the use of the folded film tube with the method according to the invention also rules out the possibility of undefined film areas remaining, which at the same time prevents the packaging from being damaged as described above. At the same time, non-uniformity with regard to the external appearance of the packaged units is avoided.
- the film hood formed according to the method described above has pocket-like openings resulting from the folding, which lie on the sides of the film tube and in the plane of the film hood surface.
- the remaining pocket-like openings must now be closed with suitable means.
- a number of advantageous embodiments of the present invention provide that the film hood is stretched and moved at least as far down until its inner upper surface touches the upper surface of the packaged goods.
- the pockets can be closed before or after the film hood has been completely stretched, depending on the expediency.
- the device for carrying out the respective methods can be a separate device for further processing of the packaging material, or the necessary device elements can be arranged in the packaging device.
- appropriately arranged welding bars in the device now approach and weld the pocket-like openings, the upper surface of the packaging material being used as a counter-bearing.
- air is blown into the remaining pocket-like openings so that they remain open, after which glue is injected from appropriately arranged nozzles. Thereupon, the remaining openings are glued shut by means of a suitably arranged pressure plate, the upper surface of the packaged goods in turn being used as a counter bearing.
- the upper surface of the packaged goods is used as a counter bearing.
- the triangular protrusions be appropriately arranged on the device Weld bars on the sides or alternatively on the upper surface of the film hood.
- the remaining triangular protrusions after covering the film hood over the packaged goods are welded together along the horizontal, upper side edges of the resulting pack of packaging by means of welding bars which are expediently arranged on the device, and are simultaneously cut off.
- a method in which the edge of the film section required for packaging, which is remote from the packaged goods, is welded closed in different directions.
- the folds result in a total of five double-layer sections of the film tube, namely two on each side due to the folding and an unfolded middle part.
- the double layers created by the folding at the edge of the film hood are obliquely welded at a suitable angle which depends on the dimensions of the film hood and at the same time the respective corner is cut off.
- the upper edge of the unfolded middle double layer is just welded shut, so that a film hood is formed which has a roof shape. If this film hood is picked up by the finger elements, stretched and pulled over the packaged goods, neither pocket-like openings nor protrusions remain.
- All of the advantageous embodiments of the present invention have the advantage that the entire upper, inner hood surface lies uniformly horizontally on the upper surface of the goods to be packaged, which always ensures the same required stability of the packaging assembly is guaranteed.
- the packaged stack can therefore z. B. also stack well, because damage to the almost smooth surface is excluded.
- space can be optimally used in high shelving systems, because the stretch film is closely nestled on all sides of the packaged goods and there are no disruptive film protrusions.
- the packaging device shown in Fig. 1 comprises a horizontal frame 2 which is movably mounted on a stand 1 in the vertical direction, as indicated by the double arrow A.
- the stacked packaged goods 3 to be packaged which are placed on a pallet 4, are arranged below the frame opening.
- the pallet 4 is packed together with the packaged goods 3.
- the packaged goods 3 can be positioned in the packaging position below the frame opening by means of a transport device 5 and, after the packaging has been completed, is conveyed further via this transport device 5.
- the transport device 5 is correspondingly narrow designed.
- a lifting device not shown, is provided in order to position the pallet 4 at the desired height, as indicated by double arrow C.
- the packaging material is temporarily clamped between the transport device 5 and the pallet 4 of the packaged goods 3.
- the packaging material used is a tubular film 6, which is wound on a supply roll 9 and is fed via deflection elements such as slide rails and rollers to a horizontal bracket 11 attached to the upper end of the stand 1 and protruding forward in the same direction as the frame 2.
- the tubular film 6 is folded in its folded state such that it has an inwardly folded edge and two outwardly facing edges on each side.
- the hot air blower 8 is arranged on the upper feed device 7.
- the film guided past the blower is heated comparatively strongly in the vicinity of the blower and cools down to the front end of the feed device 7. Due to the warm air evenly distributed in the feed device and acting on the top and bottom of the film, the entire film section is brought to a desired temperature level and held there.
- Two brackets 12, 13 parallel to one another and to the frame parts are arranged on the frame 2.
- the two brackets 12, 13 can be moved towards and away from each other, as indicated by the double arrows B.
- Each of the consoles carries two suction boxes, not shown, which contain a suction fan, not shown.
- a pivotable finger element 14 is mounted on each of the suction boxes, which consists of a horizontal, with the free end to the inside of the Frame openings indicating non-use position can be pivoted into a vertically upward functional position.
- hot air blowers 10a, 10b are arranged on the undersides of the brackets 12, 13, which blow warm air into the interior of the film tube. This arrangement of the hot air blowers also favors the vertical stretch behavior of the film in a special way. Switches and setting controls for the respective blowers are located on the control panel 20.
- FIG. 2 shows a film section 21 required for packaging, which is folded in on both sides 26 and 27 and was welded together at the edge remote from the packaged goods.
- the film hood 21 thus formed can now be unfolded for packaging the packaged goods.
- finger elements 14a, 14b, 14c and 14d reach into the four corners of the film hood 21, a slide-on device also snapping the film hood onto the finger elements.
- the finger elements diverge as described above the folded sides 26 and 27 are pulled apart, the pocket-like openings 24 and 25 then being formed on the upper surface of the film hood.
- FIGS. 4 to 7 serve to close the resulting pocket-like openings 24 and 25.
- two welding bars 28 and 29 are arranged on the device side.
- the film hood 21 which is spread open by means of the finger elements 14a, 14b, 14c and 14d is moved downwards so far that its inner, upper surface comes to rest on the outer, upper surface of the packaged goods.
- the welding bars 28 and 29 are then moved down and, with the surface of the packaged goods as a counter bearing, the pocket-like openings 24 and 25 are welded shut.
- nozzles 30 and 31 are arranged on the device side such that their outputs point into openings 24 and 25.
- the nozzles 30 and 31 can either blow air into openings in combination so that the film parts forming the openings are blown apart, after which glue can be blown in via the nozzles.
- hot air can be blown directly into the openings so that the film parts are melted.
- the pressure plate 32 then moves downward and presses the hood surface onto the surface of the packaged goods, whereupon the openings are closed.
- Fig. 7 shows the again spread film hood 21, the openings of which are closed with adhesive strips 35 and 36. This can be done automatically or manually according to the process. Furthermore, occasional shorter pieces of adhesive tape can serve the same purpose.
- the film hood according to FIG. 2 produced according to the method of the invention is turned over once so that the weld seam 22 is located within the film hood 21, the pocket-like openings 24a, 24b, as shown in FIG. 25a and 25b. These openings are now on the outer, upper surface of the film hood and can be closed in the same way with one of the methods described in FIGS. 4 to 7.
- the film hood 21 has the 9 with a continuous upper weld seam 22. If this, as described, is gathered and spread onto the finger elements, the projections 37 and 38 remain on the lateral, upper side edges, as shown in FIG. 10. After the film hood so spread has been moved so far down that the film surface is supported on the upper outer surface of the goods to be packaged, the protrusions are welded shut by means of welding bars 28, 29 and simultaneously separated. Alternatively, the protrusions 37 and 38 can also be welded to the side surfaces 26 and 27 by only one welding bar 28 running along the edge and welding the protrusions.
- the protrusions can also be welded onto the upper film hood surface by a welding bar 29 lifting the protrusion from below and folding it over the upper surface, as indicated by arrow A.
- the protrusions can be glued as described in FIGS. 4 to 7 with glue, adhesive strips or hot air.
- FIG. 11 shows an exemplary embodiment of a film hood 40 which was produced by a method according to the invention.
- welding edges 39a, 39b, 39c and 39d are arranged obliquely at an angle matched to the film hood dimensions, while the unfolded middle double layer is provided with the horizontally running weld seam 22.
- the unfolded film hood 40 has an essentially roof shape. If the film hood 40 is gathered onto the finger elements as described and pulled over the packaged goods, then, as shown in FIG. 12, neither openings nor projections remain.
