Definitions

  • the invention relates to a blade unit for cutting body hair, in particular for shaving, according to the preamble of claim 1.
  • the blade unit can be used as a replacement cutting means in a corresponding device or alone.
  • a device for cutting body hair has many requirements.
  • the device must cut the hair satisfactorily, which requires a certain geometric arrangement of the skin and cutting edge (cutting geometry), which may vary depending on the surface to be shaved. It must be possible to use it as universally as possible, i.e. on different types of surfaces and for different types of hair and skin types. But it still has to be easy to use. A risk of injury must be largely excluded for use and any other handling.
  • the device must be easy and easy to clean, which means above all that it should not have any places where cut hair could be held or even pinched. It is not easy to meet all of these requirements to be met, as this creates incompatible conditions for the design of the device.
  • a minimum distance is required between the support surface and the cutting edge of the blade to keep the cutting edge free and to transport the cut hair away.
  • This distance should be as large as possible for easy cleaning and to minimize the risk of constipation, but as small as possible for a minimal risk of injury.
  • the risk of injury is high if the device is not moved perpendicularly to the cutting edge, as is customary for a shave, but parallel to it across the skin. Even small bumps in the skin, such as old cuts, pimples or mosquito bites, can often not be stretched sufficiently between the support surfaces so that they are injured by the blade. If you shave on very convex surfaces, the skin can bend due to the strong curvature between the two support surfaces get into the area of the blade and get injured. This is especially true in places where there are sharp bones directly under the skin, i.e. in many places where women shave, and also in the area of the lower jaw.
  • Such a shaving device is known, for example, from US Pat. No. 4,409,735, in which supports for the skin are arranged in front of and behind the blade, which are intended to ensure that the skin always has the same position in front of the cutting edge.
  • the razor head with the razor blade is designed to be flexible about an axis. This axis is perpendicular to the cutting edge. Improvements in the shaving of surfaces can therefore be expected if these surfaces are curved in the same way as the shaving head can be bent. Surfaces or bumps on the skin that are curved in a different direction force a different angle of the razor and are not better shaved with this razor, since the support of the razor in front of and behind the blade, with such curved surfaces, constantly changes the cutting geometry.
  • the blade unit should also have the function of tightening and take over the favorable positioning of the skin in relation to the blade. It should not pose a risk of injury in any of the normal operations. In addition, if possible, it should not have any places where hair or hairpieces can become jammed or which could be blocked by hairpieces, so that it can be cleaned sufficiently easily with simple means.
  • the blade unit should be easy to manufacture and inexpensive.
  • the blade unit according to the invention consists of a blade with at least one cutting edge and a rake-shaped guide / protection element.
  • the blade and guide / protection element do not have to be separated by the user either for the replacement of the blade unit in an appropriate cutting device or for the use of the blade unit alone. They are then connected to one another in such a way that their separation requires means which are usually not available when the blade unit is used.
  • the guide / protection element consists of a back part that carries at least one row of finger-shaped projections.
  • the guide / protection element has a flat shape which corresponds substantially to the shape of the blade, the tips of the finger-shaped projections forming a line (or lines) similar to the cutting edge (or the cutting edges) of the blade.
  • the blade and guide / protective element are fastened to one another in such a way that the tips of the finger-shaped projections protrude beyond the cutting edge, that the line of these tips and the cutting edge are essentially parallel and that the blade lies against the guide / protective element.
  • the tips of the shaping exert pressure on the skin on the one hand and guide it, on the other hand they prevent the cutting edge of the blade from penetrating the skin.
  • the blade and the guide / protection element which is preferably made of plastic or metal, are connected to one another by an adhesive, rivet or clamp connection.
  • the shaping tips protruding over the cutting edge of the blade cover the cutting edge of the blade in such a way that only objects whose dimensions are at least smaller in one direction than the distance between two formations can reach their area and the cutting edge therefore no longer represents a real risk of injury .
  • the blade unit is pushed or pulled over the skin in such a way that the blade faces the skin and the projections of the guide / protective element protruding over the blade are guided over the skin in front of the cutting edge of the blade.
  • An optimal cutting geometry is achieved by the action of the tips of the molded parts on the skin.
  • the cut hair is pushed away between the formations and can easily be removed at any time, for example with a cleaning comb, by rinsing or simply by hand, thanks to the elimination of the risk of injury. Bumps in the skin that are larger than the distance between two projections, that is to say even highly convex surfaces, cannot get into the area of the cutting edge of the blade and are therefore safe from injuries.
  • the blade unit can be used as an exchange unit for a corresponding razor or shaving apparatus in the same way as a conventional razor blade.
  • it since it produces a good cutting geometry itself and since it does not pose any risk of injury, it can be used alone.
  • FIG. 1 shows the principle on which a shave with the blade unit according to the invention is based, in particular the cutting geometry.
  • the blade unit consists of a guide / protective element 10 with finger-shaped projections 10.1 and a blade 11 with a cutting edge 11.1 and is shown in the figure as a section along the axis of a projection 10.1 and perpendicular to the cutting edge 11.1.
  • the blade unit is guided with the blade against the skin H in the direction of the arrow with light pressure against the skin H over the skin.
  • the skin H is slightly jammed in front of the projections 10.1 (area H.1), so that it is slightly stretched behind the projections in the cutting direction.
  • the row of formations acts like a guide spatula.
  • the skin nestles in the shaving direction behind the tips 10.2 of the formations, where this pressure no longer acts, on the flanks 10.3 of the formations (area H.2), so that the cutting edge 11.1 immediately overlaps the skin is moved, which enables an optimal close-to-skin shave.
  • the functionality of the blade unit is not heavily dependent on the angle of attack between the blade unit and skin H (general direction). In other words, it does not matter that the blade unit has to be guided over the skin in a very specific position.
  • the angle of attack can be almost any small. It is limited towards the top by the fact that there must be a minimal cutting angle between the hair and blade to be cut, and by the fact that the skin to be shaved must be sufficiently elastic so that it can nestle against the edges of the formations up to the cutting edge. It turns out that angles of attack between the skin and the blade of 10 to 50 ° provide good shaving results. It can also be seen from FIG. 1 that the blade unit alone, So without other parts of a shaving device, without risk of injury and without positioning difficulties for cutting body hair, in particular for shaving.
  • a second contact surface 12 on surfaces to be shaved which are not of a shape which is difficult for shaving facilitates the optimal positioning.
  • the second contact surface can be a component of the blade unit and, as a further function, facilitate a flat blade mounting on the guide / protective element, or it can be part of the shaving device on which the blade unit is mounted. If the second contact surface is part of the blade unit, it is advantageous to produce it by riveting the three parts (guide / protection element, blade, second contact surface) or by welding the guide / protection element to the second contact surface with the blade in between, creating a kind of clamp connection between the blade and the other two parts.
  • FIG. 2 shows a top view of the embodiment of the blade unit according to the invention, which is already shown in FIG. 1, seen against the guide / protection element.
  • the guide / protection element consists of a back part 10.4 and finger-shaped projections 10.1.
  • the blade 11 is fastened to the guide / protective element (in the figure behind the guide / protective element) in such a way that the cutting edge 11.1 is surmounted by the tips 10.2 of the projections.
  • an embodiment with distances between the projections a of 0.2 to 3 mm, with projection widths (in the direction of the Cutting edge) b of 0.2 to 2 mm and with a distance between the cutting edge and the shaping tips c of 0.4 to 3 mm provides very good shaving results.
  • the thickness of the formations should be selected so that there is no danger of inserting the formation tips into the skin.
  • the shape of the molding tips is advantageously rounded for the same reason, at least without sharp tips or edges.
  • the line of the shaping tips 10.2 and the cutting edge 11.1 can represent curved lines.
  • the cutting edge of a flat blade can be concave or convex, or the whole blade is not flat, but has the shape of part of a cylinder jacket. If the blade unit is to be used as an exchange unit, the back part 10.4 and possibly also the blade 11 are provided with corresponding fastening means, for example holes.
  • FIG. 3 shows further exemplary embodiments of the blade unit according to the invention.
  • the embodiment shown in Figure 3a consists of a blade with two opposite cutting edges and a guide / protection element which carries two mutually opposite rows of formations.
  • blades with more than two cutting edges that is, for example, substantially square or pentagonal blades configured with four or five cutting edges, as shown in Figures 3b and 3c, are possible, with the appropriate guide / protection element is also essentially of a pentagonal or pentagonal shape and has finger-shaped projections on each edge.
  • Such blade units can be arranged rotatably on a corresponding cutting device, so that rotation can, for example, turn a next, still sharp edge into the cutting position (embodiment according to FIG. 3b). If the individual edges are different, for example straight or more or less concave or convex (embodiment according to FIG. 3c), they can also be rotated into the cutting position for shaving different surfaces.
  • FIG. 4 shows an embodiment of the blade unit according to the invention, which is slidably arranged on a shaving head.
  • the shaving head is provided with an application device 40, as described, for example, in Swiss Patent Application No. 1131 / 90-5 by the same applicant.
  • the application device 40 has a feed channel 41, through which a preparation to be applied for shaving is guided onto an application roller 42.
  • the application roller 42 which rotates during a shaving movement, distributes the preparation directly in front of the blade unit (10 and 11) on the skin H.
  • a middle position P.2 of the blade unit relative to the application device 40 is shown extended.
  • This position P.2 for which the general position of the skin H is shown when used for shaving, is the normal shaving position in which the application roller 42 is also guided over the skin with the blade unit and thus immediately before the shaving preparation on the Skin is distributed.
  • the hair cut off in this position during a shave is pushed between the applicator and the blade unit.
  • the blade unit is pushed into position P.3 (shown in broken lines) in which the distance between the application roller 42 and the guide / protective element 10 of the blade unit is large, which is favorable for appropriate cleaning.
  • the position P.1 of the blade unit relative to the applicator (also shown in dashed lines) is suitable for shaving longer hair, since the cut hair is not caught between the applicator and the blade unit. However, no application is possible in this position.
  • a razor suitable for mounting the blade unit according to the invention can either be designed such that the applicator is firmly attached to the handle while the razor head with the blade unit is slidably mounted thereon, or that the razor head with the blade unit is firmly attached to the handle while the Applicator is slidably attached to it.
