Definitions

  • the invention relates to a pair of pliers for a combing machine, comprising a lower part of the pliers which has a frame and a lower plate which is carried by the frame, and an upper plate which is movable with respect to the lower plate, around an edge of the upper plate against a front edge of the lower plate to press.
  • a combing machine is e.g. known from GB-A-356 810
  • Such pliers are usually used in combing machines to hold a fiber beard in the closed state, which is combed out by a rotating circular comb. The pliers are then opened and the combed fiber beard is fed to a tear-off cylinder pair which connects the fiber beard to the end of the previously formed comb web and tears off the cotton wool lying in the pliers.
  • Comb webs which are produced by known combing machines, always have certain irregularities.
  • the object of the invention is to design the pliers specified at the outset in such a way that more uniform sliver webs can be obtained in a comber.
  • the object is achieved with the pliers according to the invention in that the lower part of the pliers carries lateral guide elements which have fiber guide surfaces facing one another in front of the front edge of the lower pliers plate.
  • the fiber guiding surfaces reduce the risk that laterally protruding fibers occur at the side edges of the fiber beard, which fibers are not caught by the tear-off cylinders and can then settle somewhere and lead to faults, for example to winders on the tear-off cylinders.
  • the combing head has a rotating round comb shaft 1, two tear-off cylinders 2 and 3 and an oscillating pliers shaft 4, all of which are mounted in a machine frame (not shown).
  • the pliers shaft 4 carries crank arms 5 on which the rear end of a lower part of the pliers 6 is articulated.
  • the front end of the lower part 6 of the pliers is articulated on front supports 7 which are pivotably mounted about the axis of the round comb shaft 1.
  • the lower part of the pliers 6 consists of a frame 8 and a pliers plate 9 carried by the latter.
  • the upper pliers plate 9 interacts with an upper pliers plate 10, which is supported by arms 11 pivotally connected to the frame 8.
  • the continuously rotating circular comb shaft 1 carries in the usual manner a roller body 12, on which a circular comb segment 14 which is equipped with combing needles or combing sets 13 is fastened.
  • Fig. 1 the pliers 6, 10 is shown in a retracted, closed position. Between the lower edge of the upper pliers plate 10 and the front edge of the lower pliers plate 9, a fiber beard F is clamped by the cotton wool W to be combed in the pliers. This fiber beard F has just been combed out by the combing needles or combing sets 13 of the circular comb segment 14; the rear end of the circular comb segment 14 in the direction of movement has reached the fiber beard F. (The direction of movement of the circular comb roller - counterclockwise in FIG. 1 - is indicated by the combing needles or combing sets 13, these are inclined forward in the direction of movement.)
  • the rear end of the circular comb segment 14 leaves the fiber beard F. So that then no fibers spread out from the side edges of the fiber beard F, there are on the roller body 12 following the rear end of the circular comb segment 14 arranged on both sides of the roller body 12 guide strips 15 for the fiber beard side edges.
  • the guide strips 15 extend in the circumferential direction from the rear end of the circular comb segment 14 over an angle (viewed from the axis of the circular comb roller) of at least 20 °, preferably at least 30 ° so that they guide the side edges of the fiber beard F until the pliers 6, 10 leave their retracted position according to FIG. 1, move against the position shown in FIG. 2 and thereby open.
  • the radial height of the guide strips 15 is chosen so that the radially outermost parts of the guide strips - that is, in the drawn shape of the guide strips, their cylindrical outer peripheral surfaces - have about the same distance from the axis of the roller body 12 as the tips of the combing needles or Combing sets 13.
  • the guide strips 15 could also be somewhat lower; however, their radially outermost parts should expediently have at least the same distance from the axis of the roller body 12 as the feet of the combing needles or combing sets 13 or as the outer peripheral surface of the circular comb segment 14.
  • a fiber support segment 16 which extends in the circumferential direction over an angle of at least 20 °, preferably over an angle of 30 to 90 °, is also arranged on the roller body 12 following the rear end of the circular comb segment 14.
  • the radially outermost parts of the fiber support segment 16 can have a distance from the axis of the roller body 12 which is in the same range as described above for the radially outermost parts of the guide strips 15.
  • the recesses 17 receive the side edges of the fiber beard F, so that these side edges can be guided as described by the mutually facing side surfaces of the two guide strips 15.
  • the guide strips 15 can, as shown in FIG. 5, be fastened on the fiber support segment 16; but they can also be formed in one piece with the fiber support segment be.
  • the fiber support segment 16 initially serves to support the fiber beard F from below after the rear end of the circular comb segment 14 has left the fiber beard F. This makes the fiber beard F more compact and has fewer fibers that protrude downwards. At the same time, the fiber beard is lifted up a bit and takes on a more horizontal position. This is advantageous for the subsequent placement of the fiber beard F on the end of a previously formed comb web K, which, as shown in FIG. 2, is moved out of the clamping line thereof by turning the tear-off cylinders 2, 3 backwards. In the position according to FIG. 2, the fiber support segment 16 also serves to lay down all the fibers of the end of the comb web K.
  • the end of the roving fleece K has fewer fibers that protrude upwards, and the fiber beard F has fewer fibers that protrude downwards. Therefore, when the fiber beard F is placed on the end of the ridge fleece K, fewer fiber collisions occur, and more regular soldering can be achieved.
  • the guide strips 15 guide the side edges of the fiber beard F as described until the pliers 6, 10 leave their retracted position (FIG. 1) and open. Thereafter, the leadership of the side edges of the fiber beard is taken over by two lateral guide elements 18 and 19, which are carried by the lower part 6 of the pliers.
  • the guide elements 18 and 19 have fiber guide surfaces 20 and 21 facing each other from the front edge of the pliers plate 9 (FIGS. 3, 4).
  • the guide elements 18 and 19 are carried by two further lateral guide elements 22 and 23, respectively, which are fastened behind the front edge of the collet plate 9.
  • the guide elements 18 and 19 can be connected in one piece to the respective further guide element 22 or 23.
  • the others Guide elements 22 and 23 also have mutually facing fiber guide surfaces 24 and 25, respectively.
  • the pliers 6, 10 are opened, when the fiber beard F moves upward, the side edges of the fiber beard are pushed somewhat inwards.
  • the smallest distance between the fiber guide surfaces 20 and 21 is somewhat larger, for example by about 4 mm, than the smallest distance between the rear fiber guide surfaces 24 and 25, so that the fiber beard F can spread out very easily with respect to the cotton wool W supplied.
