- the rails fastened to sleepers are usually laid on a track body on a layer of gravel, which is laterally removed with sufficient clearance from the ends of the sleepers. It has been shown in practice that these embankments move outwards under the pressure of train traffic, so that there is a risk that the ballast layer under the sleepers will no longer ensure adequate support. For this reason, the embankments on such track systems are serviced at certain intervals with the corresponding special machines that can be moved on the tracks. The gravel material that has migrated to the outside is used again to form the sufficient slope at a certain angle of inclination. Such maintenance work is complex and therefore causes considerable costs.
