Definitions
- the invention relates to a device for drying sheets, or sheet materials in a pass, wherein at least one vacuum chamber is provided below the dry material management level, which is provided with a passage cross-section, vorzw. has heatable top plate over which an air-permeable conveyor belt is guided.
- Such a device is known from DE-C-26 07 504.
- This device has proven itself well in practice and is used in its work, in particular behind printing machines with which webs are screen-printed.
- Significant disadvantages of the known device are noticeable in sheet or single part printing, in particular with regard to keeping the sheets flat or the like. This disadvantage arises from the fact that the printed sheets cannot be dried with the known device, since these do not easily remain firmly on the implementation level of the device and can therefore become wavy, possibly also warp.
- Another difficulty with drying the sheet is also the question of transport, since the web can be drawn as a whole, but sheets require a means of transport which they must also move absolutely flat.
- the invention is therefore based on the object of considerably accelerating the drying process in order to limit the deposition of application chemicals to the area of the dryer and thereby to ensure that the sheets lie firmly during the drying and also not only permit a high working speed of the dryer, but significantly outperform other dryers.
- the health aspects for the operating personnel should be taken into account.
- the vacuum chamber (s) can be closed by at least one covering hood leading to the drying level and at least in the area of the inlet slot of the conveyor belt into the device, below its running level, lying transversely to the running direction, one or more Suction bars are arranged.
- Conveyor belt made of heat-resistant material which, due to its porosity, allows the suction flow to pass into the interior of the dryer in a stable position. There they are not only heated and dried by the top plate of the vacuum chamber (s), which provides the support and heat, but also freed of their chemical substances and vapors by the heated blowing flow of the hood and pressed firmly onto the conveyor belt. Then the sheets, - running out of the dryer, - can be guided by means of the conveyor belt over another suction bar located in the outlet area, so that they are permanently held flat from the inlet area to the outlet area and cannot flutter.
- the advantage is that not only is the drying time considerably shortened, but it is also ensured that the workpieces, such as sensitive, printed sheets, are not exposed to any warping that can easily lead to rejects.
- the evaporating moisture of the printing ink achieves a "working" of the material which is always undesirable and which can only be avoided if very careful drying is carried out over long distances.
- the drying section is shortened considerably, with the best result.
- Another advantage of the invention is that e.g. When printing switch foils on screen printing machines, the drying air applied works primarily and can largely move the diffusion forces from the ink, whereby the heat supplied from below supports this process, because the material itself allows the heat transfer, but not the suction flow, which prevents evaporation could, since it would impact down. Since the material is absolutely fixed, a perfect result is guaranteed.
- the dryer 1 is generally located at the end of a production line and receives sheets, preferably printed or coated, from a printing machine or a coating machine of any type. In particular, sheet printing on a screen printing machine is intended. But it can also be other surface articles that are fed.
- the dryer 1 has a feed table 10, a base frame 11 and a discharge chute 12 at its discharge end.
- the actual dryer area is closed by means of a hood, which is intended to achieve an enclosed space in the work area.
- This hood also provides the space for the air supply by means of blowing nozzles 14, which are located in the direction of the goods carrying-through level of the conveyor belt 2 circulating.
- the upper run of the conveyor belt 2 closes off the base frame of the dryer 1 in the region of vacuum chambers or boxes 3 located at the front, which upwards, assigned to the conveyor belt 2, have air passage cross sections 31 in their heatable top plate 30.
- the upper run of the conveyor belt 2 runs directly in front of the inlet area into the closed housing of the dryer 1 via a, preferably rectangular or square, suction bar 4, the surface of which gives the suction pressure is assigned directly to the upper run of the conveyor belt 2.
- the conveyor belt 2 made of heat-resistant, porous, for example woven or knitted, respectively. perforated material exists, already before and in the entrance area the suction pressure applied to the sheet 7 to be dried and holds it firmly on the conveyor belt 2.
- This suction bar 4 is located close to the entrance slot, but in the feed table 10, and in turn corresponds to the suction bar 5, which is located directly below the outlet area of the conveyor belt 2, behind the dryer, in front of the storage chute 12. Also at the outlet, it is important that the sheet or sheets 7 or workpieces to be dried are held on the conveyor belt as if glued.
- the surface of the suction bar and the lower surface of the conveyor belt each lie practically on one level and the sheet 7, which is carried along by the conveyor belt, is fixed thereon.
- the workpieces 7 enter the dryer calmly, in which they are heated on the one hand by heat from the heated top plate 30 of the vacuum box (s) 3 and dry from below and on the other hand dry from above by means of the hot air by the rising vapors and so that the moisture is also blown off. They run out of the dryer, practically without their own movement. All of this happens when the sheet 7 is in a flat position by permanently holding it up to and beyond the starting area.
- the sheet 7 In the area of the exit slot, downstream of this, the sheet 7 is thus held firmly on the conveyor belt until its end limit has passed this area. The sheet 7 is then released and slides into the storage chute 12.
- the conveyor belt 2 can be driven continuously, but better discontinuously, for example via a known sectionally operating roller, possibly a suction roller 6, as is used in printing machines.
- the conveyor belt is guided over deflection rollers 20, 21, 22, 23 in the feed area and 24, 25, 26 in the storage area and can therefore regenerate or unload until it runs into the dryer again and picks up a new sheet.
- the dryer 1, with its hood 13, is shown open in a side view.
- the hood 13 is divided into two.
- the rear part 13a receives the air from below from the base frame 11, which is held by supports 11a.
- the front part has an air supply space 13b, in which there are heating coils 17 which heat the air before it enters the many downward blowing nozzles 14 in order to blow off the sheets 7 and at the same time press them firmly onto the conveyor belt 2.
- Arrow direction A shows the inflow opening into the air supply space 13b.
- Arrow direction B indicates the possibility that the air flow can come back, which comes out of the nozzles 14 and is excess.
- the openings 13c and 13d lie one above the other in the intermediate wall.
- the nozzles 14 are vorzw over the entire area in the interior of the dryer. equally distributed.
- the cover 13 also has an exhaust port 15 which can be opened or closed more or less by a flap 15a.
- the suction pressure is generated in the vacuum chamber 3 by a suction blower 8, which sucks the air out of the vacuum chamber (s) 3, thereby holding the elbows 7 in place and supplying the blowing nozzles 14 via the exhaust air.
- a suction blower 8 draws air from the vacuum area through its central socket and gives the blower air into a space 9 under the lower rear chamber 11a via its exhaust air socket 80, these two parts being connected to one another by one or more openings 11c.
- the chambers 11a and 13a lie one above the other and form a closed unit in operation, especially since the wall with the openings 11c could be missing.
- the room 9 has an inclined rear wall 19, which serves as a guide surface to the upper part
- a significant advantage of the subject of the invention is also seen in the fact that the closed circuit of the air inside the device means that the surroundings remain practically unloaded.
- the suction and transport roller 6 shows the suction and transport roller 6 somewhat more clearly, with the suction bar 5 arranged in front on average.
- the conveyor belt 2 is pulled over it. Since the suction beam is rectangular in cross section, the conveyor belt lies flat, so that the suction pressure can be passed on to the material to be dried via the conveyor belt 2.
- the suction bar extends over the entire working width and thus has its suction passage cross sections 5 'in the support area over the entire working width.
- the suction and transport roller 6 works, as is common in screen printing, discontinuously. However, it can also be switched to continuous operation.
- the suction and transport roller 6 and the suction bars 4, 5 are connected to the suction fan 8.
