Abstract

The sealing cleat has a main part (1) with a first sealing lip (6) for making sealing contact with a pane (7) or a filling element. The pane (7) is placed against the sealing lip (6) during assembly and rests on the top (10) of a lip (9). A recess (13) is provided in a bridge (4) in the body of the sealing strip. The foot (16) of a second part (2), which carries a second sealing lip (15) in contact with the other side of the pane (7), fits into the recess. When the foot (16) is inserted into the recess (13), the two sealing lips (6, 15) are elastically deformed and pressed against the pane (7). The inserted foot has a groove (19) at one end in which a rib (14) engages. The foot (16) and hence the part (2) are thus firmly anchored in the main part (1).

Description

The invention relates to a two-part sealing strip made of elastic material for enclosing a window pane or a filling element in a frame, according to the preamble of claim 1.

Depending on their dimensions, sealing strips of this type are used for smaller windows in movable elements such as doors or gates. With a correspondingly stronger training, they can also be used for large-area glazing, for example in high-rise buildings, in which considerable loads are caused by wind pressure.

A sealing strip of the type mentioned is known from GB-A-2 142 685. The first part, with a first outer sealing lip, has a very strong web with a recess. This serves to receive the foot of a second part, which carries a second sealing lip, which is used to bear against the inner side of the pane or the filler element to be sealed. The recess is shaped in such a way that the part of the web above it is designed like a hook-like lip. The foot of the second part has a thickening which lifts said lip when inserted into the recess and then snaps into its hook shape, with which the foot and with it the sealing lip of the second part should be anchored.

Although this is the case, this type of anchoring cannot take up any major loads. Firstly, the recess is open towards the second part, and secondly the mentioned hook-shaped lip delimiting it from above is located over a large part of its length under the sealing lip of the second part, which has a cutout for this purpose. The hook-shaped tip of this lip is therefore no longer in the groove, which is formed by the two sealing lips and serves to receive the disk, and also the rest of its part, towards its foot, limits this groove from below only to a small extent. In addition, since an upward point or bulge protrudes into the groove in the web and thus serves as a support point for the edge of the pane, the lip mentioned is without support from above, ie. H. it cannot lie against the edge of the pane. If the wind now acts on the pane, press it on the sealing lip of the second part. First of all, this results in a torque on the foot underneath and, according to the laws of statics, also a force leading horizontally away from the recess, which also acts on the foot. This exerts an equal force on the hook of the lip and also has the tendency to twist in the recess and thereby push the lip upwards. Since the disc is not supported as mentioned, it finally bends upwards until the foot can release. The second part separates from the first and the disc no longer has a hold, which can have fatal consequences.

It is therefore a purpose of the invention to design the filler and the main part or first part of the sealing strip in such a way that the connection between the two becomes even better with increasing wind pressure than immediately after assembly, which usually occurs when there is no wind or at most light wind At this point, the connection should not be excessively strong, because otherwise the assembly or disassembly of the pane will be difficult, but must subsequently be able to hold the pane securely even in strong wind gusts and to seal it at its edge.

Such a sealing strip according to the invention is characterized by the features of claim 1.

Exemplary embodiments of the sealing strip according to the invention are to be explained in more detail with the aid of the accompanying drawings in an exploded view of their two parts. For the time being, Figure 1 will be explained.

The sealing strip comprises a first part 1, the main part, and a second part, the so-called filler 2. The main part 1 has two downwardly projecting holding or fastening lips 2, 3, which are connected to and together with a web 4 form the sealing strip body. As can be seen, this engages around a carrier 5, so that the sealing strip is fixed on it. The spacing of the two fastening lips 2, 3 from one another, to be precise the spacing d of their mutually directed surfaces lying against the carrier 5, is matched to the width of the carrier 5 in such a way that it is slightly less than this width before assembly. The web 4 is therefore somewhat stretched when it is placed on the carrier 5, so that the two fastening lips bear against the latter under a certain pressure and thus ensure a good hold of the sealing strip.

The fastening lip 2 on the left in the figure continues upwards into a sealing lip 6 which is practically mirror-inverted to it. This is intended to rest against a pane or a filling element 7. Your transition point to the fastening lip 2 and the web 4 should be referred to as the foot 8 of the sealing lip 6. A further lip 9 protrudes from this foot 8 in approximately the same direction as the web 4. However, it does not run parallel to the web 4, but is slightly inclined upwards. Your top 10 forms the bottom of the future groove, which is formed by the interaction of parts 1 and 2 and which receives the edge of the disc 7. At its free end 11, it carries a projection 12, the mode of operation of which will be discussed later.

The web 4 has a wide recess 13 on its upper side. This is delimited on one side by the lip 9 just mentioned and on the other side by a rib 14. From this rib 14 to the fastening lip 3, the web 4 has its full thickness.

The filler 2 essentially consists only of a sealing lip 15 and a very wide foot 16 which, as can be seen, has an angled shape, i.e. its underside 17 is not continuously straight. The sealing lip 15 is connected to the foot 16 approximately in the middle. The foot 16 bears on its left side in the figure a tip 18, on the right side a groove 19. This groove 19 is designed so that it can engage around the rib 14 delimiting the recess 13 in the assembled state of the filler 2, whereby the Filler 2 is anchored in part 1.

How this insertion takes place will now be explained in more detail below. As can be seen, the foot 16 of the filler 2 is shown in dashed lines as it is inserted into the recess 13. For the time being, it should also be mentioned that its width, that is to say the distance between the tip 18 and the groove 19, is at least equal to the width of the recess 13, measured from the transition point between the web 4 and the lip 9 to the rib 14. As can be seen, the Insert the filler 2 in the direction of arrow A to the top of its foot 16 against the underside of the tip 11 of the lip 9, while the right end of the foot is still above the rib 14. The further insertion now has the result that the lip 9 is elastically bent upwards and thereby curved. This deflection is initially transferred to the washer 7 and via this further to the sealing lip 6. Although the sealing lip 15 presses on the washer 7, it cannot tilt to the left under the initially one-sided pressure, because on the one hand it is through the tip of the sealing lip 6 as it were clamped on one side and by the projection 12 engaging its edge on the other side. Thus, it is only shifted to the left against the pressure of the sealing lip 6 and bends it until it is approximately stretched. However, due to this growing back pressure also the sealing lip 15 of the filler 2 is approximately stretched out of its likewise slightly curved shape. This elastic stretching of the two sealing lips causes an adequate seal. At this point, the foot 16 of the filler 2 has been shifted to the left so far that its groove 19 engages in the rib 14. The fountain pen is now anchored.

In this sealing strip too, the pressure effect of the two sealing lips 6, 15 can be influenced by choosing a material for the filler 2 that is different from the main part 1. Normally, however, filler 2 and main part 1 are made of the same material.

It should also be noted that when the filler 2 is engaged, its underside 17 does not lie flat on the bottom 20 of the recess 19, but is at a distance from this bottom in the middle because of its non-linear shape. This distance results in a certain additional elasticity not only during assembly and disassembly, but also when pressure is exerted on the pane 7. The underside 17 can, as shown, consist of two rectilinear sections or else be rounded, ie concave.

For panes that are exposed to a lower wind pressure either because of their small size or their position, the second embodiment according to FIG. 2 is sufficient. Functionally identical parts, even if they differ somewhat in shape from those in FIG. 1, are given the same reference numerals. The web 4 is much shorter here because this sealing strip is mounted on a narrower frame. Sealing lip 6 of part 1, lip 9 and recess 13 are also present here, only the latter is considerably shorter. The rib 14 can also be seen. However, it is less pronounced than that in FIG. 1, is located directly above the right fastening lip 3 and now has a vertical stop surface 21. As before, part 2 comprises a sealing lip 15 and a foot 16; however the sealing lip 15 is now at the very right end of the foot 16. This is provided with a likewise vertical contact surface 22 there.

The insertion of part 2 into the part, after the disc has been placed, proceeds in the same way as in FIG. 1. Again, the tip 18 of the foot 16 slides under the lip 9 and is held by it, so that the part 2 cannot tip in a clockwise direction. The two surfaces 21 and 22 now lie next to one another and thus form the anchoring means which prevent the part 2 from being pressed out of the recess 13 again due to a pressure force acting on the sealing lip 15 to the right. The torque resulting from the compressive force that acts on the sealing lip 15 and the lever arm of this resultant up to the foot 16 must now be largely absorbed by the lip 9 here because the sealing lip 15 is located at the right end of the foot 16 located. In Figure 1, this torque is distributed approximately evenly over the lip 9 and the groove 19. Nevertheless, the same principle is implemented in the sealing strip according to FIG. 2, according to which pressure on the sealing lip 15 only improves the connection of parts 1 and 2; the small remainder of the torque, which is not absorbed by the lip 9, leads here to a stronger pressure of a support surface 23 at the lower end of the sealing lip 15 on the upper side 24 of the rib 14, so that the risk of sliding out of the recess 13 also increases this end of it is reduced.

This sliding out is also prevented by the foot 16 having a sufficient width so that it can absorb the torque mentioned. This is mainly important because, as mentioned at the beginning, the entire sealing strip consists of an elastic material. On the one hand, this has to be hard enough to be able to transmit forces such as the pressure originating from the disk 7, but on the other hand it has to be elastic enough to, among other things, insert the part 2 in not to complicate the recess 13. It proves to be expedient to make foot 16 at least half as wide as the height of sealing lip 15, measured from its base on foot 16 to its tip. free end, is. This minimum width is just sufficient for the embodiment according to FIG. 2, which serves for low loads; 1, at which higher wind pressures are to be taken up, the width of the foot should, as shown, essentially correspond to the stated height, so that the lever arm of the torque is large and therefore the forces acting on the foot ends remain small.

The sealing strip according to the invention is particularly suitable for panes 7 which are either round, oval or, if already rectangular, very rounded at their corners, since the entire sealing strip can then be installed as one piece, which encompasses the whole pane 7 and its ends bump into each other. Despite the easy assembly of the filler, it is then no longer possible for unauthorized persons to loosen the filler, remove the pane 7 and in this way, for example, open a door or a gate from the inside by means of a tool which is guided through the now empty frame. Once the filler has been inserted and its ends meet as described, it can only be removed using a special tool that is only available to the assembly staff.
