Definitions

  • the invention relates to a cover profile strip for simultaneous holding and sealing of fixed glazing or filler elements on flat or curved outer sides of the building, which strip has an essentially mushroom-shaped cross section with an anchoring foot, two sealing lips protruding from the side thereof and a slot of variable width for receiving a filling profile strip has, which begins on the curved top of the cover profile strip between the two sealing lips and continues into the anchoring foot with a width that is less than the width in the area below the above-mentioned top.
  • Such cover profile strip is known from GB-A 1 061 055. It also has an approximately mushroom-shaped cross section with sealing lips which protrude laterally from an anchoring foot.
  • a slot leads into the anchoring foot from the center of the curved outside of the bar. This slit is very narrow directly on this outside, then widens to an oval cross section and then narrows downward again in a wedge shape. It is used to hold a correspondingly shaped filler profile. This is a separate part that is inserted into the slot and so by pressure on the side of the slot ensures that the sealing lips and especially their tips remain in their drawn position and thus exert enough pressure on the panes or filler elements that they surround to ensure the sealing effect.
  • the wedge shape of the slot and the filler profile endanger the effectiveness of the cover profile in the long run.
  • strongly changing negative pressures can occur on the outside of the building, which exert such a strong suction effect on the panes or fillers that there is a risk of them pulling away vertically from the building wall.
  • the constant change of forces acts on the cover profile and from it on the filler profile in the sense that the latter, due to its wedge shape relative to the surrounding cover profile, has the tendency to be gradually pushed outwards.
  • the oval head of the filler profile strip which also matches the oval cross section of the slot, abuts the edges of the very narrow section of the slot which is also mentioned and adjoins the outside.
  • a first purpose of the invention is therefore to form a cover profile strip which can be used in most cases without inserting a separate filler profile strip, but nevertheless presses the sealing lips sufficiently strongly onto the panes or filler elements.
  • Another purpose is to use one and the same cover profile strip even if the panes or filler elements are no longer wanted or unintentionally in one plane, but at an angle to one another without the need for a new strip.
  • Yet another purpose is to design the slot in the cover profile strip in such a way that it can accommodate a filler profile strip on its outside, which, however, is not pushed out by the interaction of the forces mentioned, and on the other hand, in certain cases, it is possible to use a different strip in this slot which then also remains in this thanks to this formation of the slot.
  • Such a cover profile strip is characterized according to the invention in that the slot has its greatest width directly from this top side by the formation of a trough-like walls which extend essentially perpendicular to a tangent to the curved top side and an extension which runs parallel to it and connects the walls on, then continues in a constriction, which is formed by elastically deformable ribs, which delimit an adjoining groove, which is wider in comparison to the constriction, the filler profile strip being used in the trough-like extension and because of its simultaneous production with the cover strip, at least one of the walls that delimit the extension over a bridge is connected, which is however thin enough to be able to replace the filling profile strip with an exchange profile strip with a width differing for the purpose of changing the position of the sealing lip tips and thus their contact pressure and / or with a different color or material property for the purpose of varying their visible side.
  • the cover profile strip 1 is shown in a first embodiment.
  • the spacer 2 holding them by means of a toothing and the basic profile strip 3 are also shown. All of these parts are applied to the building structure 4 indicated only by a line, e.g. by screwing.
  • the cover profile strip 1 and the base profile strip 3 each hold a glass pane 5 or a corresponding filler element between them. This is only shown in broken lines here, since parts 1 to 3 are shown in the untensioned state. Both disks or filling elements 5 can be at an angle to one another, but equally well in one plane.
  • the cover profile strip 1 holds the disc 5 on the outside. Only it is the subject of the present invention.
  • the cover profile strip 1 has two sealing lips 6, which protrude depending on one side and end in an arc in each tip 7, which then presses on the corresponding disk 5.
  • the two sealing lips 6 unite at their roots 8 to form a foot 9 which has teeth 10. With these, the cover profile strip is fastened in spacer 2, as can be seen.
  • New is a slot 11 in the foot 9.
  • it extends from the curved or convex outside 12 of the sealing lips to approximately the height of the toothing 10.
  • its width is very different.
  • the slot 11 merges into a constriction 14, which initially has a funnel-shaped mouth 141 and then walls parallel to it, in order then to widen again after the latter.
  • the groove 15 of the slot 11 formed by this widening is, however, less wide than the widening 13.
  • the extension 13 As can be seen from FIG. 1, there is a filler profile strip 17. It is connected to the vertical walls 19 of the extension 13 by means of thin webs 18 which engage on its lower longitudinal side. As a rule, it is produced together with the entire cover profile strip 1 and therefore consists of the same material as this. The same also applies to the webs 18.
  • the filler profile strip 17 fills the extension 13 approximately and also has practically the same cross-sectional shape.
  • the cover profile strip 1 is mounted as shown in FIG. 1, ie together with the filler profile strip 17. It therefore acts like a full body, ie when pressed into the teeth 10 of the spacer 2, the two sealing lips 6 lie against the filler profile strip 17 on. This prevents the sealing lips from moving even closer together and thus prevents the cover profile strip from being pressed in too deeply 1 into the toothing 10.
  • the vertical walls 19 of the trough-like extension 13 are practically perpendicular to the convex outer side or curved upper side 12 or in other words, they are perpendicular to a horizontal tangent which is applied to this outer side 12.
  • the filler profile strip 17 has essentially the same cross section as the extension 13, the compressive forces generated by the compression are transmitted from the walls 19 to the filler profile strip 17 and absorbed by the latter. If the walls 19 diverged obliquely upwards, the filling profile strip 17 could be separated from the webs 18 by this pressure and pressed out of the extension 13.
  • the filler profile strip 17 usually consists of the same material as the entire cover profile strip and therefore has the same color after manufacture. Now, however, it may be desirable to loosen up the relatively large outside somewhat with other colors or with a different surface. For this purpose, the filler profile bar 17 is removed. Thanks to the thin webs 18, this is not a problem. Another bar can now be used in its place, which fills the extension 13, but is colored differently, consists of a different material or has a different surface finish. Usually all three properties are combined in the new filling profile bar.
  • Such an exchange filler which is designated by 20, has already been used in FIG. It has a head 21, the cross section of which essentially corresponds to that of the replaced filler profile strip 17 and also approximately has the same dimensions, except that it must be wider or narrower for the reasons mentioned above.
  • a web 22 adjoins this head 21 and comes to rest in the constriction 14.
  • the lower end of the web 22 merges into an anchoring foot 23, which is again much wider than the web 22 and comes to rest in the groove 15.
  • the constriction 14 is essentially formed from two ribs directed downwards into one another into the groove 15. These ribs can deform when the foot 23 is pressed through the constriction 14 when the replacement filler 20 is inserted. This pressing is made easier by the funnel-shaped mouth 141.
  • extension 13 has a base 26 which runs parallel to the tangent mentioned above. This base therefore absorbs the compressive forces which arise when the replacement filler 20 is pressed in and thereby prevents the filler 20 from being pressed into the slot 11 deeper than necessary.
  • the embodiment of the cover profile strip according to FIG. 2 is somewhat less high than that according to FIG. 1.
  • it will be referred to as 1a. It is mainly used to mount horizontally on sloping roofs or facades, i.e. across the slope, because thanks to its flat design, rainwater can easily run over it.
  • the slot 11 is the same as in the profile strip 1. Only the cavity 16 below the groove 15 is missing here. The sealing lips 6 are made thinner.
  • the cover profile strip 1 is installed in the downward direction. It runs through at intersections with the profile strip 1a, while the latter end there on both sides of the profile strip 1.
  • This arrangement is shown schematically in Figure 3 with a half, which shows a view in the downward direction.
  • the profile strip 1a can be seen from the side, that is to say in the direction of the arrow in FIG. 2, so that the tip 7 of one sealing lip can be seen in the transverse direction.
  • the sealing lip 6 or its tip extends in an arc shape, that is to say it has a hump as seen from above. Above and below the profile strip 1a crossed by it, the sealing lip 6 also rests on the building structure 4.
  • the profiled strip 1 carries on each sealing lip 6 a rib which is round in cross-section and is connected to it by a web, the so-called cord 27.
  • This cord which can be seen in FIGS. Wind pressure forces, which transmit the panes 5 to the cover profile strip 1, are transmitted in a shorter way into the foot 9 and thus into the building structure 4 than the tips 7 are capable of. These are slightly relieved of these pressure forces, but still prevent the ingress of water. In the area of overlap of the profile strip 1a, however, this cord 27 is removed (FIG. 3); The length of the removed cord corresponds exactly to the width of the profile strip 1a.
  • a sealant is applied there. So that it does not flow into the cavity at the intersection of the two profiled strips 1, 1a and prevents its ventilation, a rectangular rib 28 is attached to the profiled strip 1, which projects practically perpendicular from the respective sealing lip 6. It is arranged at such a distance from the tip 7 of the sealing lip 6 or from the foot 9 that, as can be seen in FIG. 4, it bears against the building structure 4 and not only prevents the sealing compound from passing through, but also simultaneously as Centering when mounting the profile strip 1 is used.
  • the replacement filler 20 not only does not have to be made of the same material as the original filling profile strip 17, it can, as already indicated, also have a different shape. The only condition is that it can be inserted into slot 11 and anchored well there.
  • FIG. 4 shows an exchange filler 20a which, in addition to its actual function, is also designed such that it supports the two sealing lips 6 on their outer sides 12. For this purpose it is made of metal, usually extruded aluminum.
  • Figure 4 shows it inserted in the profile bar 1 in its not yet assembled state.
  • the web 22 and the foot 23 are the same as in FIG. 2. What is new, however, is the U-shaped cover 29 on an extension 30 of the web 22, against the angled ends 31 of which the fitted sealing lips 6, which are therefore bent upwards, are drawn .

Abstract

PCT No. PCT/CH88/00155 Sec. 371 Date Jul. 19, 1989 Sec. 102(e) Date Jul. 19, 1989 PCT Filed Sep. 8, 1988 PCT Pub. No. WO89/04408 PCT Pub. Date May 18, 1989.A glazing profile strip (1) which has a foot (9) with a toothing (10) for anchoring the strip (1) on a spacer (2) connected to the structure (4) of the building, has a slot (11) in that foot (9). This slot initiates at the outside (12) of the two sealing lips (6) protruding from the foot (9) and first forms a though-like enlargement (13). This enlargement serves for receiving a filler profile strip (17) that is connected to the sealing lips (6) only by thin bridges (18). The slot then continues below that enlargement by forming a narrow portion (14) having a flared mouth (141) and terminates in a larger groove (15). The narrow portion (14) is formed by two ribs opposed to each other which have a lower side (25) formed as an undercut. That side (25) serves as a rest for a head of a replacement filler profile strip which is inserted into the slot. Prior to this insertion, the present filler profile strip (17) is removed by separating its thin bridges (18) from the walls of the enlargement. The lower side (25) of the narrow portion secures the head of the replacement profile strip and with it the strip itself against being pulled out of the slot. Thanks to the possibility of replacing the filler profile strip (17) by another one of different design, different dimensions and different aspect the glazing profile strip can be used for different requirements without altering its basic concept.

Description

The invention relates to a cover profile strip for simultaneous holding and sealing of fixed glazing or filler elements on flat or curved outer sides of the building, which strip has an essentially mushroom-shaped cross section with an anchoring foot, two sealing lips protruding from the side thereof and a slot of variable width for receiving a filling profile strip has, which begins on the curved top of the cover profile strip between the two sealing lips and continues into the anchoring foot with a width that is less than the width in the area below the above-mentioned top.

Such cover profile strip is known from GB-A 1 061 055. It also has an approximately mushroom-shaped cross section with sealing lips which protrude laterally from an anchoring foot. A slot leads into the anchoring foot from the center of the curved outside of the bar.

However, the wedge shape of the slot and the filler profile endanger the effectiveness of the cover profile in the long run. In strong winds or storms, strongly changing negative pressures can occur on the outside of the building, which exert such a strong suction effect on the panes or fillers that there is a risk of them pulling away vertically from the building wall. The constant change of forces acts on the cover profile and from it on the filler profile in the sense that the latter, due to its wedge shape relative to the surrounding cover profile, has the tendency to be gradually pushed outwards. It is true that the oval head of the filler profile strip, which also matches the oval cross section of the slot, abuts the edges of the very narrow section of the slot which is also mentioned and adjoins the outside. However, if the relative position of the two adjacent panes bordered by the cover profile strip in between does not match the nominal position, for example due to an unintended bend, or if the filling profile strip is visibly thicker than the slot width, this section can become significantly wider. The risk that it will be expanded completely increases rapidly. However, if the angling of the two panes is planned, a special cover profile strip must be made for practically every angle in order to keep this section narrow.

A first purpose of the invention is therefore to form a cover profile strip which can be used in most cases without inserting a separate filler profile strip, but nevertheless presses the sealing lips sufficiently strongly onto the panes or filler elements.

Another purpose is to use one and the same cover profile strip even if the panes or filler elements are no longer wanted or unintentionally in one plane, but at an angle to one another without the need for a new strip.

Yet another purpose is to design the slot in the cover profile strip in such a way that it can accommodate a filler profile strip on its outside, which, however, is not pushed out by the interaction of the forces mentioned, and on the other hand, in certain cases, it is possible to use a different strip in this slot which then also remains in this thanks to this formation of the slot.

Such a cover profile strip is characterized according to the invention in that the slot has its greatest width directly from this top side by the formation of a trough-like walls which extend essentially perpendicular to a tangent to the curved top side and an extension which runs parallel to it and connects the walls on, then continues in a constriction, which is formed by elastically deformable ribs, which delimit an adjoining groove, which is wider in comparison to the constriction, the filler profile strip being used in the trough-like extension and because of its simultaneous production with the cover strip, at least one of the walls that delimit the extension over a bridge is connected, which is however thin enough to be able to replace the filling profile strip with an exchange profile strip with a width differing for the purpose of changing the position of the sealing lip tips and thus their contact pressure and / or with a different color or material property for the purpose of varying their visible side.

  • FIG. 4: a cross section with an exchange filling profile strip designed as an additional stiffening and cover.

In Figure 1, the cover profile strip 1 is shown in a first embodiment. In order to explain their function, the spacer 2 holding them by means of a toothing and the basic profile strip 3 are also shown. All of these parts are applied to the building structure 4 indicated only by a line, e.g. by screwing. The cover profile strip 1 and the base profile strip 3 each hold a glass pane 5 or a corresponding filler element between them. This is only shown in broken lines here, since parts 1 to 3 are shown in the untensioned state. Both disks or filling elements 5 can be at an angle to one another, but equally well in one plane. The cover profile strip 1 holds the disc 5 on the outside. Only it is the subject of the present invention.

The cover profile strip 1 has two sealing lips 6, which protrude depending on one side and end in an arc in each tip 7, which then presses on the corresponding disk 5. The two sealing lips 6 unite at their roots 8 to form a foot 9 which has teeth 10. With these, the cover profile strip is fastened in spacer 2, as can be seen.

New is a slot 11 in the foot 9. In this embodiment, it extends from the curved or convex outside 12 of the sealing lips to approximately the height of the toothing 10. As can be seen, its width is very different. At the top, i.e. This width is greatest directly on the outside 12, so that a trough-like extension 13 is formed there. Thereupon, the slot 11 merges into a constriction 14, which initially has a funnel-shaped mouth 141 and then walls parallel to it, in order then to widen again after the latter. The groove 15 of the slot 11 formed by this widening is, however, less wide than the widening 13. Below the groove 15 there is a cavity 16, which, however, only serves to save material; it also makes the foot 9 slightly more compressible, which facilitates the insertion of the profile strip 1 into the spacer 2.

In the extension 13, as can be seen from FIG. The filler profile strip 17 fills the extension 13 approximately and also has practically the same cross-sectional shape.

Normally, the cover profile strip 1 is mounted as shown in FIG. For this reason, the vertical walls 19 of the trough-like extension 13 are practically perpendicular to the convex outer side or curved upper side 12 or in other words, they are perpendicular to a horizontal tangent which is applied to this outer side 12. Since, as mentioned, the filler profile strip 17 has essentially the same cross section as the extension 13, the compressive forces generated by the compression are transmitted from the walls 19 to the filler profile strip 17 and absorbed by the latter. If the walls 19 diverged obliquely upwards, the filling profile strip 17 could be separated from the webs 18 by this pressure and pressed out of the extension 13.

As mentioned, the filler profile strip 17 usually consists of the same material as the entire cover profile strip and therefore has the same color after manufacture.

However, this is not only the only possibility that is offered when replacing the existing filler profile strip 17. In Figure 1 it is indicated that the two glass sheets 5 are at an angle to each other. If this acute angle is to be reduced, ie the angular position is to be made even stronger, the pressure force of the tips 7 of the sealing lips 6 is sufficient under certain circumstances no longer. In this case, use a new filler profile that is wider than the one you removed. The extension 13 is thereby widened, whereby the tips 7 move downwards in the not yet assembled state. In the assembled state, however, this means an increase in the pressure on the glass panes 5, and thus the same contact pressure is achieved as with panes 5 that are less angled.

Conversely, if the two panes in FIG. 1 were to diverge obliquely upwards, the original filler profile strip 17 could be too wide. Then the assembly of the cover profile strip 1 would be very difficult. If the bar 17 is replaced by a less wide one, the tips 7 of the sealing lips can move upward, and the mounting of the cover profile bar 1 is again possible without any problems.

However, it is important in any case that the new filling profile strip, the so-called replacement filler, is well anchored in the covering profile strip 1, because otherwise it would be pushed out again by pressure fluctuations. He has no connection to the walls 19 within the extension 13 as was the case with the webs 18 of the original filler 17. Therefore, in order to hold the replacement filler and to assemble it easily, which can be done before or only after the cover profile strip 1 has been inserted, both it and the slot 11 below the extension 13 must have a very specific shape. This will now be explained with reference to FIG. 2.

Such an exchange filler, which is designated by 20, has already been used in FIG. It has a head 21, the cross section of which essentially corresponds to that of the replaced filler profile strip 17 and also approximately has the same dimensions, except that it must be wider or narrower for the reasons mentioned above. A web 22 adjoins this head 21 and comes to rest in the constriction 14. The lower end of the web 22 merges into an anchoring foot 23, which is again much wider than the web 22 and comes to rest in the groove 15. The constriction 14 is essentially formed from two ribs directed downwards into one another into the groove 15. These ribs can deform when the foot 23 is pressed through the constriction 14 when the replacement filler 20 is inserted. This pressing is made easier by the funnel-shaped mouth 141. When the wedge-shaped foot 23 has passed this constriction 14, the ribs return to their original position. The upper side 24 of the foot 23 rests against the undersides 25 of the ribs, which are designed as an undercut, in the case of upward tensile forces acting on the replacement filler 20. The filler 20 is thus well anchored. This anchorage can absorb very high tensile forces, which can be properly introduced into the building structure 4 (FIG. 1).

It should also be mentioned that the extension 13 has a base 26 which runs parallel to the tangent mentioned above. This base therefore absorbs the compressive forces which arise when the replacement filler 20 is pressed in and thereby prevents the filler 20 from being pressed into the slot 11 deeper than necessary.

The embodiment of the cover profile strip according to FIG. 2 is somewhat less high than that according to FIG. 1. In the following, it will be referred to as 1a. It is mainly used to mount horizontally on sloping roofs or facades, i.e. across the slope, because thanks to its flat design, rainwater can easily run over it. However, the slot 11 is the same as in the profile strip 1. Only the cavity 16 below the groove 15 is missing here. The sealing lips 6 are made thinner.

The cover profile strip 1, however, is installed in the downward direction. It runs through at intersections with the profile strip 1a, while the latter end there on both sides of the profile strip 1. This arrangement is shown schematically in Figure 3 with a half, which shows a view in the downward direction. The profile strip 1a can be seen from the side, that is to say in the direction of the arrow in FIG. 2, so that the tip 7 of one sealing lip can be seen in the transverse direction. The sealing lip of the sloping profile strip 1, which is shown without a spacer 2 and basic profile strip 3, lies partially with its tip over the profile strip 1a; since the latter also has a convex outside 12 according to FIG. 2, the sealing lip 6 or its tip extends in an arc shape, that is to say it has a hump as seen from above. Above and below the profile strip 1a crossed by it, the sealing lip 6 also rests on the building structure 4. For the purpose of good sealing, the profiled strip 1 carries on each sealing lip 6 a rib which is round in cross-section and is connected to it by a web, the so-called cord 27. This cord, which can be seen in FIGS.

Nevertheless, at the ends of this overlap, that is, where the profile strip 1 again lies directly on the building structure 4, there is a point where there is a risk of leaks. Therefore a sealant is applied there.

The replacement filler 20 not only does not have to be made of the same material as the original filling profile strip 17, it can, as already indicated, also have a different shape. The only condition is that it can be inserted into slot 11 and anchored well there. FIG. 4 shows an exchange filler 20a which, in addition to its actual function, is also designed such that it supports the two sealing lips 6 on their outer sides 12. For this purpose it is made of metal, usually extruded aluminum. Figure 4 shows it inserted in the profile bar 1 in its not yet assembled state. The web 22 and the foot 23 are the same as in FIG. 2. What is new, however, is the U-shaped cover 29 on an extension 30 of the web 22, against the angled ends 31 of which the fitted sealing lips 6, which are therefore bent upwards, are drawn . Because of this cover, the extension 13 in the profile strip does not need to be filled in completely; two angle pieces 32 acting as centering are sufficient for this purpose. This type of replacement filler 20a is particularly recommended in places where very strong winds and thus high suction forces often act on the cover profile strip 1.

In addition to the illustrated variants of the replacement filler 20, 20a, numerous other embodiments are also conceivable. When designing the cover profile strip, it is expedient to ensure that these variants are interchangeable and also fit both into the profile strip 1 and into the profile strip 1a. The extension 13 and the constriction 14 are therefore expediently always of the same dimensions, while the groove 15 only has to have the same width.
