Definitions
- the invention relates generally to side finishes for exterior window sills and, more particularly, to those for exterior window sills made of metal, in training as a push-fit part that can be pushed on laterally.
- Such side finishes for window sills made of metal can either - if they themselves also consist of metal - be welded on or put on or pushed on; in the latter case, they could also be made of plastic.
- the weather-related temperature fluctuations can result in intolerability at the transition from the plaster to the side finish due to thermal expansion.
- the possible temperature differences are between + 40 ° C in the midday sun and - 20 ° C at night, i.e. temperature fluctuations in the order of approx. 60 to 80 ° C.
- the resulting expansion of a light metal window sill lies in the The order of several millimeters per window sill.
- the extension of the Windowsill can be absorbed in part by deformation (mostly bulging upwards), the uncompensated part can result in the adhesive connection of the side end part to plaster being torn off, with corresponding crack formation in the plaster, which can favor frost damage due to water penetration.
- a primitive remedy is to stick strips of several millimeters thick made of soft material (for example neoprene) on the side end parts in order to create a room for expansion for the temperature-related movement of the window sill due to the soft material.
- soft material for example neoprene
- a construction is known from the German patent application 3 915 265 (corresponding to WO 90/13724 or German utility model G 9 105 743) in which the metallic side part is a Receives plastic receptacle that is connected to the plaster.
- the soft plastic holder should enable movements of the window sill.
- a clear scope for expansion is not guaranteed. With possible movements of the window sill of several millimeters, it is not possible to see where these longitudinal expansions should be absorbed.
- the extremely strong connection to the plaster provided in this construction can even have an additional disadvantage.
- the German utility model G 9 007 058 shows a lateral closure device in the form of a protective sleeve which can be fastened to the masonry and is open on one side and which receives the window sill end, which is provided with a connector which is firmly arranged on it and encompasses it, with the interior between the protective sleeve and an expansion joint is provided at the end of the window sill, which is filled with a soft elastic plastic band or a plastic foam.
- the invention is therefore an object of the invention to provide a side sliding closure for metallic window sills, which reliably ensures sufficient expansion freedom with a simple construction, while at the same time simple and safe installation even under construction site conditions.
- a spring profile part can be used in the receiving chamber of the side end part, which has a section designed with spring action in the horizontal direction, which initially defines the predetermined range of expansion, and a section which is resilient in the vertical direction for clamping the window sill end when the side end part is pushed onto the window sill end ;
- the spring profile part has a section against which the window sill end comes to rest when the side part is slid onto it, as a stop to ensure the predetermined initial range of expansion during initial assembly; and that the spring profile part is designed as a self-holding part when inserted into the receiving chamber by the spreading spring effect.
- the stop is resilient (in the horizontal direction), so that even
- the side end part as a box profile part open on one side with a vertical side wall and three of This is formed horizontally parallel to the window sill level horizontal legs, of which the upper is a plastering protection and serving as a visible surface and the two lower together form the spring part and the window sill chamber.
- the side closure according to the invention is structurally simple ; it includes the side end part which can be produced as a simple profile part both in die-cast metal and optionally also in plastic, as well as the spring part which, as a separate one-piece part, can simply be inserted into the chamber of the side end part and thereby fulfills a multiple function: it reliably ensures the initial predetermined expansion range by Excessive sliding of the side end part during assembly is reliably avoided by the horizontally resilient stop in the manner mentioned; in the installed operating state, it also reliably absorbs considerable changes in the length of the window sill, without transferring impermissibly high voltages to the side end part and its adhesive bond with the plaster; it fixes itself when inserted into the side end part
- the spring part which can preferably be embodied as a metal part, but possibly also in plastic, there are numerous possibilities. It is essential to fulfill the multiple functions of this part mentioned above in an integrated form.
- the side closure according to the invention is also advantageously suitable for combination with a reliably effective corner seal against driving rain.
- a corner sealing part can be plugged onto the rear end of the side end part, which reliably guides driving rain pushed into the corner into the receiving chamber of the side end part, the underside of which can preferably be designed as a trough.
- the side end part designated as a whole by 1, is shown in FIG. 1 in the right-hand version for plugging onto a window sill (not shown). It forms a box body which is open on the left and has a vertical right side wall 2 and horizontal legs 3, 4, 5 projecting from it to the left. Of these, the upper 3 serves as an upper cover leg with the function of a visual end and protection against the plaster, in which the side end is partially embedded.
- the two lower legs 4, 5 in the chamber 10 they form accommodate the spring part 6 specific to the invention and the window sill when the side end is attached to it.
- the upper viewing leg 3 and the middle leg 4 extend over the entire length of the side end part, which in turn corresponds to the width of the window sill to be accommodated plus a front overhang.
- the upper leg 3 is pulled down into a vertical leg 7, into which the middle leg 4 opens and which serves as a visually pleasing view from the front.
- the longitudinal extent of the lower leg 5 (like the longitudinal extent of the spring part 6) is essentially limited to the window sill width; the middle leg 4 is offset in the region of the front end of the lower leg 5 at 8 with a step and is made with a smaller width over the protruding length 4 a, corresponding to the width of the front end leg 7.
- FIG. 1 the side end part according to the invention is shown with inserted spring 6, but without the associated window sill, on which the side end part is to be pushed.
- Fig. 2 the side end part is also shown without a window sill and also without the spring used.
- Fig. 3 now illustrates the interaction between the side end part, the spring used and the window sill, on which the side panel can be pushed; the fig. 3a to 3d represent different functional stages of the side end part and show this essentially in section along the line III-III in Fig. 1, but in Fig. 3 a left-hand end part is selected, which is a mirror image of the right-hand end part shown in Fig. 1 is to be thought.
- This chamber 10 takes this up essential feature of the invention forming spring part 6, and the window sill, on which the side end part can be pushed.
- FIG. 3a shows the (left-hand) side end part according to one embodiment of the invention in the ready-to-use state before assembly.
- a spring part 6 which fulfills several functions: on the one hand, the spring part 6 is designed as a self-holding insert part. This function is served by the left section 6a of the spring, which - in the exemplary embodiment shown - is approximately rectangular or square, with suspension properties both in the vertical and in the horizontal direction. By means of the suspension property in the vertical direction, the spring automatically holds itself in its initial desired position shown in FIG. 3a after being simply pushed into the chamber 10.
- the spring part is used to clamp the side end part on the window sill 11 (FIG. 3b) or 11 '(FIGS. 3c and 3d).
- This function is used in the embodiment shown, section 6b of the spring part 6, which in the embodiment shown essentially as is formed from the box-shaped spring part 6a to the right projecting roller spring 6e, which has a resilience in the vertical direction and clamps the window sill 11 or 11 'with the underside of the side part middle leg 4.
- the vertical suspension property of this part 6b of the spring makes it possible to clamp window sills of different thicknesses, for example window sill 11 with a thickness of 1.5 mm or window sill 11 'with a thickness of 3 mm (FIGS. 3c and 3d).
- the side closure according to the invention is therefore suitable for versatile use with window sills of different thicknesses. To prepare the installation of the window sill with side end, the side end part 1 therefore only has to be pushed laterally onto the end of the window sill.
- the spring part also fulfills a further function, namely to ensure the desired range of expansion for accommodating changes in length of the window sills 11 or 11 'caused by temperature fluctuations.
- This function is primarily used by the left spring area 6a, which is essentially box-shaped in the exemplary embodiment shown, and which acts simultaneously with its central leg 6c as a stop for the window sill 11 or 11 'when the side end part is slid onto it.
- This function primarily serves the horizontal spring action of section 6a, which ensures that when the side end part is mounted on the window sill, it assumes the correct position on it when the side end part is pushed onto the middle leg 6c of the spring part until the window sill stops.
- this ensures a perfect fit of the side wall end part on the window sill (also with regard to the parallelism of the side end part with the window sill, but above all with regard to the postponement depth), and on the other hand the sufficient Elongation margin, which is defined by the normal position of the left spring section 6a illustrated in FIG. 3b.
- FIGS. 3c and 3d illustrate the initial state after assembly, in which the window sill with the side end part pushed onto it is fixed to the window frame (not shown) and the side end part is plastered laterally into the window reveal. In this position, the full range of expansion defined by the normal configuration of the left spring section 6a is given. If there is a longitudinal expansion of the window sill 11 'as a result of temperature changes, as illustrated in FIG. 3d, this change in length is absorbed by compression of the section 6a of the spring 6 in the manner shown in FIG. 3d, the spring constants being selected such that the Connection of the side end part with the plaster is not unduly stressed.
- the multiple functions of the spring part 6 described above can be assigned primarily to the different sections of the spring part, but are mutually dependent and in interaction with one another.
- the self-anchoring can thus be brought about primarily by the left leg 6d of the spring part, which is designed to be resilient in the vertical direction as an expansion part; however, the central leg 6c of the spring can also contribute to this self-anchoring, whereby the vertical spreading of the central leg 6c between the legs 4 and 5 of the side end part can be relatively low (in particular lower than the vertical spreading of the left spring leg 6d) in order not to impair the horizontal displaceability excessively .
- the clamping effect for anchoring the side end part on the window sill is essentially caused by the section 6b and the right roller spring 6e.
- the clamping effect must be sufficient to ensure that the side end part is clamped sufficiently on the window sill, even on thinner window sills (such as 11 in FIG. 3b); on the other hand, it must not be too large that the spring as a whole could no longer move in the horizontal direction.
- the function of securing the expansion scope and the stop action is essentially brought about by the leg 6f, which acts resiliently in the horizontal direction, the spring force of which is sufficient on the one hand for the stop action to ensure the required expansion scope during assembly (i.e.
- the design according to the invention with an independent spring part arranged in a chamber of the side closure designed as a push-on part provides an advantageous solution for the side closure of metallic window sills:
- the side closure according to the invention is structurally simple; it comprises the side end part 1 as such, which can be produced as a simple profile part with vertical side wall 2 and horizontal legs 3, 4, 5, both in metal, for example as an aluminum die-cast part, and optionally also as a plastic part.
- the other essential part of the combination according to the invention is the spring part 6, which can simply be inserted into the chamber 10 as a separate part and fixes itself in this.
- the end part To assemble the side end part on the window sill, the end part only needs to be pushed onto the window sill in the lateral direction up to the stop formed by the spring part, which reliably ensures that the required amount of expansion is maintained.
- the combination according to the invention thus forms a structurally simple, assembly-friendly and assembly-safe solution.
- the spring 6 is preferably made of metal; however, a plastic part could also be considered.
- a modified embodiment according to FIG. 4 would be particularly suitable for the execution in plastic; 3 shows a sectional view corresponding generally to FIG. 3, but now for a right-hand end part, an embodiment modified with regard to the design of the spring, in different functional stages.
- Fig. 4a again shows the side end with inserted spring 60 in the preassembled state, but before being pushed onto the window sill.
- FIG. 4b shows the state in the fully assembled state pushed onto a window sill 11 of thinner material thickness before installation
- FIG. 4c shows a corresponding view using the side edge on a window sill 11 'of greater thickness.
- the axial section 60a again ensures compliance with the specified expansion margin in the initial state (FIG. 4a) with the stop action at the Push-on installation on the window sill, the middle leg 60c serving as a physical stop, which at the same time causes the spring to self-hold during the initial assembly when it is inserted into the chamber 10 formed by the two lower legs 4, 5.
- this section 60a again acts as a recording of the longitudinal expansion of the window sill, as illustrated in FIG. 4c.
- the spring section 60a initially configured in the form of a lying oval would deform into a circular shape or into a standing oval, as shown in FIG. 4c.
- the spring section 60b in turn serves to clamp the window sill 11 or 11 'when the side end is pushed onto the window sill, and with the middle leg 60c in the manner mentioned for self-retention when the spring is initially inserted.
- the spring 60 essentially has in the section 60b U-shape, with the middle leg 60d and the two upstanding legs 60c and 60e, wherein the latter leg can be designed in the manner shown to be directed towards the interior of the chamber and tapered and the other leg forms the middle leg 60c.
- This U-shaped spring section 60a connects the section 60a forming a lying oval in the rest state in the direction towards the interior of the chamber (ie to the right in FIG. 4).
- the side sliding closure according to the invention is also advantageously suitable for combination with a corner seal against driving rain.
- driving rain pushes water into the corner of the window sill and from there into the masonry if the window sill corner is not tight.
- a certain remedy has been attempted in the prior art by sticking strips of, for example, foam rubber in the corner of the side end parts. However, this would be completely unsuitable for side sliding closures that move in this area.
- a more complete seal is achieved with the separate corner part illustrated in FIG. 5 and coordinated with the side end part according to the invention. So far, only welded window sill closings were considered to be tight in the strict sense. Placed simple sealing strips, such as at 12 in FIG. 1, can be damaged during assembly and, moreover, do not offer an absolute seal in the case of a sliding closure, since here the window sill can be displaced in the side sliding closure.
- the corner part illustrated in FIG. 5 according to a preferred embodiment of the invention offers a perfect corner seal, in that the corner part drains the water down in the critical area onto the lower web 5 designed as a water-guiding channel. In this the water is led to the front where it can drip off the facade.
- Fig. 5a illustrates the corner sealing part in view from the front, Fig. 5c in plan view and Fig. 5b in Fig. 5a corresponding front view from the front with inserted side end part.
- the corner sealing part designated as a whole by 20
- the corner sealing part is designed as a substantially rectangular or square plate 21, which is provided with profile elevations 22, which are matched to the web profile 2, 3, 4, 5 of the side end part and with this in the from FIG. 5b cooperate clearly.
- the lower leg 5 of the side end part is formed at its free inner end with a raised edge 50, so that the lower leg 5,50 in the manner mentioned as a trough for through the corner sealing part 20 derived driving rainwater can act.
- the corner piece permanently prevents water from penetrating into the masonry.
- the corner sealing part 20 can be designed as a simple plastic part for plugging onto the rear end of the side end part and can be pre-fitted thereon. After the side sliding cover has been attached to the window sill, it is then simply pressed on or pressed on by itself when the window sill is screwed onto the window. Due to the two-part design of the side sliding cover and corner sealing part, window sill tolerances in the direction of the sliding cover can also be accommodated.
- the invention has been described above on the basis of preferred exemplary embodiments, which, however, can be modified in many different ways and which should therefore have no restrictive meaning.
- the possibility of different configuration of the spring was based on the Figg. 3 and 4 already pointed out.
- the side end part as a whole is preferably made of die-cast metal, but could also be designed as a plastic profile part.
- the spring part 6 essential for the invention is shown in FIG. 1 as essentially over the Entire length of the side end part corresponding to the window sill width extending one-piece part shown.
- the spring part could also be subdivided into individual longitudinal sections, with free sections possibly also remaining between these spring sections. For example, two or three shorter spring sections could be provided distributed over the window sill width.

Abstract
Description
The invention relates generally to side finishes for exterior window sills and, more particularly, to those for exterior window sills made of metal, in training as a push-fit part that can be pushed on laterally.
Side finishes of metallic exterior window sills are intended to create a technically flawless and optically satisfactory transition between the side window sill ends and the adjacent window reveal. For this purpose, they are attached to or attached to the two lateral ends of the window sill and partly plastered into the plaster of the window reveal. Usually, the side end parts extend forward over the facade surface with the same overhang length as the window sill itself, in order to ensure an optically and aesthetically satisfactory end in the view from the front and from the side for this projecting part of the window sill.
Such side finishes for window sills made of metal can either - if they themselves also consist of metal - be welded on or put on or pushed on; in the latter case, they could also be made of plastic. In both cases, the weather-related temperature fluctuations can result in intolerability at the transition from the plaster to the side finish due to thermal expansion. In winter, the possible temperature differences are between + 40 ° C in the midday sun and - 20 ° C at night, i.e. temperature fluctuations in the order of approx. 60 to 80 ° C. The resulting expansion of a light metal window sill lies in the The order of several millimeters per window sill. The extension of the Windowsill can be absorbed in part by deformation (mostly bulging upwards), the uncompensated part can result in the adhesive connection of the side end part to plaster being torn off, with corresponding crack formation in the plaster, which can favor frost damage due to water penetration.
Attempts have been made to counteract these inconveniences in various ways in the prior art. A primitive remedy is to stick strips of several millimeters thick made of soft material (for example neoprene) on the side end parts in order to create a room for expansion for the temperature-related movement of the window sill due to the soft material. However, this only provides a limited remedy, since even very soft materials can transmit relatively high compressive stresses when used flat.
In the prior art, further remedial measures by designing the side closures as sliding closures have also been considered. So it is known from
Bei der EP-A 1-0387538 (entsprechend DE-A 1-3908604 bzw. The German utility model G 9 007 058 shows a lateral closure device in the form of a protective sleeve which can be fastened to the masonry and is open on one side and which receives the window sill end, which is provided with a connector which is firmly arranged on it and encompasses it, with the interior between the protective sleeve and an expansion joint is provided at the end of the window sill, which is filled with a soft elastic plastic band or a plastic foam. Apart from the complex assembly of these two-part construction here also does not guarantee compliance with a defined range of expansion under normal assembly conditions at the construction site; The complete filling of the expansion joint with the soft elastic plastic or plastic foam is otherwise subject to the disadvantages mentioned at the outset of using large-area sealing inserts, which under certain circumstances can transmit considerable compressive stresses. In addition, this construction does not offer an optically and aesthetically satisfactory solution for the view from the front. In EP-A 1-0387538 (corresponding to DE-A 1-3908604 or utility model G 89 03 268), a customary side part which is firmly connected to the latter is provided at the end of the window sill with flexible strips interposed in an additional, encompassing receiving part. This construction is structurally and structurally complex and complicated to assemble, although nevertheless only a limited expansion compensation is given by the simple flexible strips provided between the end profile and the receiving part enclosing this.
From the German utility model 69 29 378 a side end profile for metallic outside window sills is already known in the form of a sliding part that can be pushed onto the window sill end, which has an inward towards the window sill end to open chamber, in which a spring-loaded spring profile part is inserted in the vertical direction, which serves to clamp the end of the spring seat. This known construction is structurally and structurally simple and easy to assemble. However, this design does not guarantee any room for expansion in the horizontal direction.
Overall, the previously known side sliding closures for metallic window sills are not fully satisfactory; in some cases they are structurally and structurally complex and inadequate or unsafe in their function as expansion compensation, in particular under the conditions of the installation on site under construction conditions; in addition, the visual-aesthetic visual impression is often unsatisfactory.
The invention is therefore an object of the invention to provide a side sliding closure for metallic window sills, which reliably ensures sufficient expansion freedom with a simple construction, while at the same time simple and safe installation even under construction site conditions.
To solve this problem, starting from a side cover for a metallic outer window sill, in the form of a push-fit on the associated window sill end with an inward towards the window sill end to open chamber for receiving the window sill end with the formation of an expansion margin for the window sill end, according to the invention It is provided that a spring profile part can be used in the receiving chamber of the side end part, which has a section designed with spring action in the horizontal direction, which initially defines the predetermined range of expansion, and a section which is resilient in the vertical direction for clamping the window sill end when the side end part is pushed onto the window sill end ; According to particularly advantageous embodiments, it can be provided that the spring profile part has a section against which the window sill end comes to rest when the side part is slid onto it, as a stop to ensure the predetermined initial range of expansion during initial assembly; and that the spring profile part is designed as a self-holding part when inserted into the receiving chamber by the spreading spring effect. The stop is resilient (in the horizontal direction), so that even if improperly, namely largely to push the side parts onto the window sill ends by springing back the predetermined desired initial target expansion range.
According to a preferred embodiment it can be provided that the side end part as a box profile part open on one side with a vertical side wall and three of This is formed horizontally parallel to the window sill level horizontal legs, of which the upper is a plastering protection and serving as a visible surface and the two lower together form the spring part and the window sill chamber.
The design provided according to the basic idea of the invention, with an independent, one-piece spring part which can be inserted into a chamber of the side connection designed as a plug-on part, provides a structurally simple, assembly-friendly and installation-safe as well as optically aesthetically pleasing solution to the side closure of metallic window sills: the side closure according to the invention is structurally simple ; it includes the side end part which can be produced as a simple profile part both in die-cast metal and optionally also in plastic, as well as the spring part which, as a separate one-piece part, can simply be inserted into the chamber of the side end part and thereby fulfills a multiple function: it reliably ensures the initial predetermined expansion range by Excessive sliding of the side end part during assembly is reliably avoided by the horizontally resilient stop in the manner mentioned; in the installed operating state, it also reliably absorbs considerable changes in the length of the window sill, without transferring impermissibly high voltages to the side end part and its adhesive bond with the plaster; it fixes itself when inserted into the side end part during initial assembly; and it ensures sufficient clamping of the side part in the correct position and position on the windowsill during the initial assembly and during installation on the window frame and in the soffit plaster. These multiple functions of the spring part can be assigned to different sections of the spring part, but are mutually dependent and in interaction with one another. The individual sections of the spring part can be carefully coordinated with one another in this interplay in the context of the multiple function and are in one in a structurally and structurally simple and assembly-friendly manner integrated part. To mount the side end on the window sill, the end part only needs to be pushed onto the window sill in a lateral direction, up to the stop formed by the spring part, which reliably ensures that the required amount of expansion is maintained even under the sometimes harsh conditions of site operation.
With regard to the design of the spring part, which can preferably be embodied as a metal part, but possibly also in plastic, there are numerous possibilities. It is essential to fulfill the multiple functions of this part mentioned above in an integrated form.
The side closure according to the invention is also advantageously suitable for combination with a reliably effective corner seal against driving rain. For this purpose, according to advantageous embodiments, it can be provided that a corner sealing part can be plugged onto the rear end of the side end part, which reliably guides driving rain pushed into the corner into the receiving chamber of the side end part, the underside of which can preferably be designed as a trough.

The side end part, designated as a whole by 1, is shown in FIG. 1 in the right-hand version for plugging onto a window sill (not shown). It forms a box body which is open on the left and has a vertical
In Fig. 1, the side end part according to the invention is shown with inserted
Mittels der Federungseigenschaft in vertikaler Richtung hält sich die Feder nach einfachem Einschieben in die Kammer 10 selbständig in ihrer in Fig. 3a gezeigten Ausgangs-Soll-Stellung.3a shows the (left-hand) side end part according to one embodiment of the invention in the ready-to-use state before assembly. In the
Furthermore, the spring part is used to clamp the side end part on the window sill 11 (FIG. 3b) or 11 '(FIGS. 3c and 3d). This function is used in the embodiment shown, section 6b of the
Here, the spring part also fulfills a further function, namely to ensure the desired range of expansion for accommodating changes in length of the
The compensating effect of the side termination according to the invention in relation to larger length fluctuations of the window sill caused by temperature fluctuations is evident from a comparison between FIGS. 3c and 3d can be seen. 3c illustrates the initial state after assembly, in which the window sill with the side end part pushed onto it is fixed to the window frame (not shown) and the side end part is plastered laterally into the window reveal. In this position, the full range of expansion defined by the normal configuration of the left spring section 6a is given. If there is a longitudinal expansion of the window sill 11 'as a result of temperature changes, as illustrated in FIG. 3d, this change in length is absorbed by compression of the section 6a of the
The multiple functions of the
Fig. 3d) ermöglichen muß. The clamping effect for anchoring the side end part on the window sill is essentially caused by the section 6b and the
The
The side sliding closure according to the invention is also advantageously suitable for combination with a corner seal against driving rain. In practice, driving rain pushes water into the corner of the window sill and from there into the masonry if the window sill corner is not tight. A certain remedy has been attempted in the prior art by sticking strips of, for example, foam rubber in the corner of the side end parts. However, this would be completely unsuitable for side sliding closures that move in this area.
A more complete seal is achieved with the separate corner part illustrated in FIG. The corner part illustrated in FIG. 5 according to a preferred embodiment of the invention offers a perfect corner seal, in that the corner part drains the water down in the critical area onto the
Fig. 5a illustrates the corner sealing part in view from the front, Fig. 5c in plan view and Fig. 5b in Fig. 5a corresponding front view from the front with inserted side end part. As can be seen, the corner sealing part, designated as a whole by 20, is designed as a substantially rectangular or
The invention has been described above on the basis of preferred exemplary embodiments, which, however, can be modified in many different ways and which should therefore have no restrictive meaning. The possibility of different configuration of the spring was based on the Figg. 3 and 4 already pointed out. The side end part as a whole is preferably made of die-cast metal, but could also be designed as a plastic profile part. The
