Definitions

  • the present invention relates to an electrical connector according to the preamble of claim 1.
  • Such an electrical connector has become known from DE-A-35 27 916, in which the contacts are held in the insulating molded body in a manner not described in detail.
  • Connectors of this type are used, for example, in automotive wiring harnesses. Since electronic components are being used to an increasing extent in automotive engineering, the connectors used are very high Requirements that are no longer met by conventional types.
  • WO-A-8605630 discloses a connector in which the contacts are latched in axial bores, a locking shoulder of a contact being overlapped by a locking bead in the bore when a ring is rotated.
  • the locking ring can only be rotated when all contact elements are correctly mounted and on the other hand that the contacts are locked in their position, so that reliable contact is ensured since they cannot escape when inserted into one another. It is also achieved that the housing and insert can only be assembled with one another to form a finished connector part if the locking ring could be rotated in the installation position. Furthermore, large contact holding forces can be achieved without this having an adverse effect on handling.
  • a preferred design for the mounting and fixing of the contact elements within the receiving bores of the molded body by the locking ring results from the features of claim 8. This is particularly simple to manufacture, although it is also possible to increase the diameter of the longitudinal bores in the locking ring do.
  • a secure positioning of the contact elements during insertion into the molding material body results from the features of claim 9.
  • the connector 10 shown in the drawing in accordance with a preferred exemplary embodiment of the present invention has a first connector part 11 as a socket and a second connector part 12 as a plug, which fit into one another in the correctly assembled state and in the assembled state by means of a bayonet lock connection 13, 14 can be contracted and locked.
  • Both the socket 11 and the plug 12 have an essentially cylindrical insert 21 or 22, of which the insert 21 of the socket 11 is fixed in a substantially cylindrical housing 16 and the insert 22 of the plug 12 is rotatably held in a bayonet nut 17 .
  • Both inserts 21, 22 are inserted from the end side 18 or 19 facing away from the plug-in side, from which a plurality of individual connecting wires or a cable 23 or 24 are or are led out.
  • the individual electrical wires 23 are firmly connected in the socket 11 with contact elements designed as plug pins 27 and in the plug with contact elements designed as plug sockets 28, crimped onto them in the exemplary embodiment shown.
  • the insert 21 of the Socket 11 has a substantially cylindrical molded material body 31, which on its front plate-shaped region 33 has a plurality of through bores 34 arranged over its base area, which serve to receive the contact pins 27.
  • the molding body 31 also has a hollow cylindrical region 36 which is in one piece with the plate 33, is relatively thin-walled and has the same outer diameter as the plate 33.
  • a locking ring 38 is rotatably mounted in the coaxial cylindrical recess 37 of the molding 31 formed in this way.
  • the locking ring 38 coaxial with the molding body 31 has a rear ring part 41, which is completely accommodated in the hollow cylindrical region 36 and rests with its end face 42 on the plate 33 of the molding body 31, and a coaxial locking projection 43 projecting in one piece from the ring part 41, which has a bore 44 penetrates in the plate 33 and extends beyond the front end.
  • the contact pins 27 have, in an area between their rear end crimped with the connecting wire 26 and their pin end 47 protruding from the plate 33, two spaced latching beads 48, 49, between which a resilient latching hook 51 engages in the state inserted into the molded body 31 is provided on a circumferential area of each receiving bore 34 in the plate 33 of the molded body 31.
  • the ring part 41 of the locking ring 38 likewise has a multiplicity of continuous longitudinal bores 53 arranged distributed over the ring, which are aligned with the receiving bores 34 in the molding body 31 and which are widened in a circular arc in accordance with an elongated hole.
  • this extension 54 which is circular-arc-shaped around the axis of rotation 52 of the securing ring 38, parallel locking shoulders 56 are provided in the end region facing the receiving bores 34, which narrow this extension 54. If the longitudinal bores 53 are aligned with the receiving bores 34 according to FIG. 2, the contact pins 27 can be inserted into the insert 21.
  • the locking ring 38 can be rotated according to arrow A from the position shown in FIG. 2 to the position shown in FIG. 4, so that, according to FIG. 5, the locking shoulders 56 on the edge region of the upper locking bead 48 rest and hold the contact pins 27 in addition to the locking hook 51.
  • the locking ring 38 is axially secured within the molding 31 by a radial tongue and groove connection 57.
  • the housing 16 of the socket 11 has a rear receptacle part 66 for the insert 21, which is provided with a union nut 64 for stationary holding and with the guide bar 63, as well as an axially substantially shorter front receptacle part 67 for the plug end of the plug pin ends and also containing the guide bar 63 Plug 12 and an intermediate wall 68 between these two receiving parts 66 and 67.
  • the intermediate wall 68 is provided with a plurality of bores 69 for the passage of the contact pins 27.
  • the intermediate wall 68 in the region of the axis 52 of the housing 16 has an axial projection 71 which is approximately rectangular in cross section, and on its two sides there are slots 72 which are penetrated by two parallel spring-loaded latching tabs 73, 74, which engage the above-mentioned latching projection 43 of the securing ring 38 form.
  • the locking tabs 73, 74 are also approximately rectangular in cross-section and are included provided against each other lugs 76 which, when the insert 21 is locked in the housing 16, engage behind the end face 76 of the axial projection 71 of the housing 16. This latching lock between insert 21 and housing 16 is also only possible if the locking ring 38 is rotated relative to the molding body 31 into its installation position.
  • the other connector part which is designed as a plug 12 according to FIGS. 1 and 6, is constructed in the same way in principle and is provided with corresponding latches and locks of the individual components.
  • the insert 22 of the plug 12 also has a molded body 32 with corresponding receiving bores 34 ', in which, however, 27 contact sockets 28 are received instead of the contact pins and are held with the aid of latching hooks 51'.
  • a locking ring 39 is also rotatable but axially fixed (connection 57 '), which is designed in accordance with the locking ring 38 and with the help of the contact sockets 28, which also have the locking pins 48' and 49 'like the contact pins 27, securing or ensures that all contact sockets 28 are held correctly in the molding body 32.
  • the locking ring 39 differs from the locking ring 38 in that it has a corresponding locking receptacle 81 instead of the locking projection 43.
  • This fuse holder 81 is used for the positive reception of the locking projection 43 of the locking ring 38 of the socket 11, the Securing receptacle 81 has essentially the same contour as the locking tabs 73 and 74 have in their relaxed position.
  • the latching tabs 73, 74 of the socket 11 can only be received in the fuse holder 81 of the plug 12 if they engage in a correct manner in a latching manner around the axial projection 71 of the housing 16.
  • the hollow cylindrical region 36 'of the insert 22 has an axial groove 61' for receiving the axial guide bar 63 of the housing 16 when the two connector parts 11 and 12 are inserted into one another. With this groove 61 ', a groove, not shown, in the locking ring 39 can be brought into alignment , so that the holder 81 is also correctly positioned.
  • Interlocking tabs 73, 74 and securing receptacle 81 are therefore only possible if the securing rings 38, 39 of the insert 21 or 22 of both connector parts 11 and 12 are rotated into their installation position, since then guide bar 63 on the housing 16 and guide point 61 'Fit into each other at the insert 22.
  • the hollow cylindrical region 36 ' in which the locking ring 39 is rotatably held, is on the outer circumference with a rear circumferential groove 82 into which the front end of a rubber grommet 83 shown in FIG. 1 can be inserted , and provided with a front circumferential groove 84.
  • the two grooves 82 and 84 are on mutually facing areas by a Triangular section 85 separated in section and have at their opposite ends in the usual way a radial shoulder 86 or 87.
  • the insert 22 is held in the bayonet nut 17 in the axial direction but rotatable in the circumferential direction.
  • the bayonet nut 17 has a plurality of latching tongues 88 arranged on the inside circumference, between which a latching tongue 89 is arranged at, for example, three locations on the inside circumference.
  • the radially resilient and axially directed latching tongues 88 and 89 are of equal width and each have radial latching hooks 90 and 91, respectively, which are provided with an insertion bevel 92 on their front end area, via which and a corresponding insertion bevel 97 on the insert 22, the latching tongues 88 , 89 are pushed apart when snapping in or snapping on.
  • the latching hooks 91 of the three latching tongues 89 are provided with a radial shoulder 93, while the latching hooks 90 of all other latching tongues 88 are provided with a latching bevel 94.
  • the radial shoulder 87 of the front groove 84 is provided here with, for example, three locations distributed uniformly over the circumference, with a snap-out bevel 98, which cooperate with the radial shoulders 93 of the three latching hooks 91 in a certain displacement position.
  • This position of insert 22 and bayonet nut 17 can be set using markings (not shown), so that insert 22 can be disengaged from bayonet nut 17 in this position, since radial shoulders and disengagement slopes interact on all locking tongues 88, 89.
  • a coupling connection between the bayonet nut 17, which is provided with three bayonet pins 95 arranged evenly distributed on the inner circumference, and the bayonet element 14 on the housing 16, which is formed by three threaded parts 96 evenly distributed over the circumference is not possible since when the bayonet pins 95 and the thread parts 96 face each other for insertion, the securing receptacle 81 is rotated with respect to the latching projection 43.
  • the bayonet lock connection 13, 14 can be due to the high force transmission when the radial shoulders 93 and 87 are in contact with one another getting produced.
  • the latching projection 43 with the latching tabs 73, 74 and the securing receptacle 81 are interchanged, i.e. the fuse holder 81 is provided on the socket 11 and the locking projection 43 on the plug 12 or on its inserts 22, 21.
