Definitions

  • the present invention relates to an improvement of electrical protection or control devices, in particular modular devices, for example circuit breaker, differential circuit breaker, such as those which are installed in the control panels of electrical installations.
  • connection terminals generally of the cage terminal type, allowing the insertion and tightening of external conductors, said terminals being connected to a contact mechanism having one or more movable contacts capable of to be moved between a closed position with the fixed contact (s) and an open position remote from these contacts.
  • one of these terminals is generally electrically connected to a bi-metallic or bimetal trip device capable, when it is deformed by heating due to a current overload, to trigger the device. protection.
  • this terminal is also connected to an arc guiding electrode cooperating with the parts of an arc receiving chamber.
  • French patent application FR-A-2 580 861 describes an electrical protection device such as a circuit breaker containing, at least one contact assembly formed by a fixed contact and a movable contact, an arcing chamber at level of the contact area, a trip bimetal and at one of the interconnection terminals of the box, a single cut and folded conductive part incorporating a connection part to the terminal, an elongated and curved part forming an arc switching or guiding electrode and an elastically deformable location situated opposite an adjustment screw and serving as fixing for the bimetallic strip.
  • an electrical protection device such as a circuit breaker containing, at least one contact assembly formed by a fixed contact and a movable contact, an arcing chamber at level of the contact area, a trip bimetal and at one of the interconnection terminals of the box, a single cut and folded conductive part incorporating a connection part to the terminal, an elongated and curved part forming an arc switching or guiding electrode and an elastically deformable location situated opposite an
  • the present invention proposes to remedy these drawbacks and to provide an apparatus such as a circuit breaker or differential circuit breaker which has a part providing several functions and which allows simplified manufacture and assembly.
  • Another objective of the invention is to make it possible to manufacture this part on a single machine, making it possible, moreover, to pre-adjust the position of a bimetal adjustment screw.
  • the invention relates to a modular electrical protection or control device such as a circuit breaker or differential circuit breaker containing, in a modular type housing at least one contact assembly formed by a fixed contact and a movable contact, a chamber arc at the contact area, a tripping bimetal and, at one of the interconnection terminals of the housing, a conductive part which is made in one piece by cutting and folding and which has a part for connection to the terminal, an elastically deformable tab situated opposite an adjustment screw and receiving the end of the bimetal strip, and an elongated and curved part forming a switching electrode, the apparatus being characterized in that said part conductive has at least a first preferential deformation zone disposed between said connection part and a conductive part carrying said tab receiving the end of the bimetallic strip , said zone allowing deformations around a geometric axis parallel to the large faces of the housing of the apparatus, so that torsional forces occurring in the connection part when the terminal is tightened cannot be transmitted to the receiving tab the end of the
  • the connecting part of the conductive part is fixed or welded at a suitable location on the terminal, which can be of any type and, preferably, this connection part is connected to the rest of the conductive part by a tab offset laterally relative to the rest of the part to allow the bimetallic strip to pass freely, the lateral connection zone thus produced constituting a deformation zone whose axis is preferably parallel or slightly inclined relative to the direction of the bimetallic strip.
  • the free end of the tab supporting the bimetallic strip comes to be placed opposite an adjustment screw capable of being turned in a nut or thread which can, for example, be immobilized in a suitable housing of the housing.
  • connection part made integral with the terminal, having for example a form of platinum, continues, at one of its edges, at another preferential deformation zone, by a tab receiving the adjusting screw and, on another edge, preferably perpendicular to the first, and through of the first preferential deformation zone, by a conductive part dividing, on the one hand, into said tab receiving the end of the bimetallic strip and orienting itself opposite said tab receiving the adjustment screw and, on the other hand, in a suitably curved elongated part forming a switching electrode.
  • the lug receiving the screw is, during assembly, inserted in a part of the housing allowing a blocking of shape in the three directions of the space, while the part extending from the other edge of the plate, is also blocked in the three directions of space, and in particular, preferably, at a bend located near a strand connecting the bend to the terminal connection part in the form of platinum, via the first preferential deformation zone, said bend continuing, on one side, by the tab carrying the bimetal strip and on the other side by the extension intended to form the electrode.
  • the element 8 has a connection part (plate) 9 parallel to the large faces of the housing and intended to be fixed or welded against a tab of the terminal 1.
  • This plate 9 is connected by a bend 10 at right angles to a conductive part. 11 parallel to the opposite face of the terminal 1, this conductive part 11 continuing with an elongated leg obliquely downward, 12, which, after a suitable recess 13, forms a leg end 14 against which can be fixed or welded the lower end of a bimetallic strip 15, and this opposite a nut 16 immobilized in a suitable housing 17 of the housing and receiving an adjusting screw 18.
  • the position of the bimetallic strip can therefore be adjusted by more or less important screwing the adjusting screw 18 so as to move the tab 12 more or less away from the stationary nut 16.
  • the conductive part 11 is continued by a U-shaped bend 19 then, after a return parallel to the conductive part 11, by a doubly bent part in S 20, after which a conductive part 21 forming an elbow of large radius is continued by an elongated part 22 provided with suitable lateral cutouts and forming the switching or guiding arc electrode.
  • the element 8 is manufactured from a sheet, preferably, of copper-plated steel by cutting and stamping, and folding, the bimetallic strip being welded on its end of tab (14) before or after folding of the platinum 9.
  • Terminal 1 advantageously has an offset tab 23, parallel to plate 9 and extending, after an elbow 24, with an axis parallel to that of elbow 10, from a rear face 26 of terminal 1.
  • Terminal 1 is received in a usual housing housing, which has a relief 27 immobilizing and blocking in its plane the terminal part 26 whose lower end abuts on the relief 27.
  • the housing also has a housing receiving the element 8 (conductive part), so as to support it in particular at the bent part 21 and the parts 11, 19.
  • the elbow 10 connecting the plate 9 and the conductive part 11 forms a first preferential deformation zone.
  • An additional preferential deformation zone can be constituted by the bent part 24 connecting the offset tab 23 to the rest of the terminal 1 and, moreover, a notch 25 can advantageously reduce the height of the offset tab 23 at this location. It is therefore understood that the possible deformations undergone by the terminal, when tightening a conductor, hardly communicate with the bimetallic strip 12.
  • the element 108 has a connection part (plate) 109 intended to be mounted against the terminal 101 in order to ensure the connection with said terminal, the plate 109 preferably having stiffening ribs 110 as well as upper notches 111 and lower 112 allowing, in cooperation with a corresponding notch 113 and a return 114 of the terminal 101, to ensure a blocking with electrical connection of the terminal and the plate 109, the latter being able, moreover, to increase the rigidity of the terminal.
  • the connection part (plate) 109 intended to be mounted against the terminal 101 in order to ensure the connection with said terminal, the plate 109 preferably having stiffening ribs 110 as well as upper notches 111 and lower 112 allowing, in cooperation with a corresponding notch 113 and a return 114 of the terminal 101, to ensure a blocking with electrical connection of the terminal and the plate 109, the latter being able, moreover, to increase the rigidity of the terminal.
  • the tab 115 offset relative to the plane of the plate by a double elbow and having a part 116 of reduced width due to the presence of the notch 112, this part 116 being cut in a square to be connected on the one hand to the plate and on the other hand to the tab 115. It is understood that at the level of this part 116, a deformation can occur preferable to two degrees of freedom, in particular around a geometric axis parallel to the lower edge of the plate, that is to say perpendicular to the large faces of the housing of the device, and an axis perpendicular to the previous one.
  • the lower part of the tab 115 has, by stamping, a bead 117 with a tapping 118 capable of receiving a screw or adjusting needle 119.
  • One of the two lateral edges of the plate 109 that is to say one of the two edges perpendicular to the base edge which carries the extension forming the second preferential deformation zone 116, continues, after a bend, by a part 120 perpendicular to the plane of the plate 109, an arch-shaped cutout 121 dividing, at the connection on the plate, the part 120 into two parallel branches 122. It is understood that at this location, the weakening thus produced forms a preferential deformation zone around the elbow connecting the plate to the two branches 122, allowing deformation around an axis, this time parallel to the large faces of the apparatus housing and perpendicular to its bottom.
  • the part 120 is bent so as to form a conductive part 123 extending opposite the plate 109 and parallel to it, this part conductor 123 continuing with a leg obliquely elongated downwards, 124, which, after a suitable recess, forms a leg end 125 against which the lower end of a bimetal strip 126 can be fixed or welded, and this opposite the tapping 118.
  • the position of the bimetal strip can therefore be adjusted by more or less significant screwing of the adjusting screw 119 so as to move the tab 124 more or less apart from the stationary tab 115.
  • the conductive part 123 is continued by a U-shaped bend 127 then, after a return parallel to the part 123, by a doubly bent part 128, after which a conductive part 129 forming a large radius bend is continued by an elongated portion 130 provided with suitable lateral cutouts and forming the switching or guiding arc electrode.
  • element 108 (conductive part) is made from a sheet of copper-plated steel, preferably by cutting-stamping, tapping and bending, the bimetallic strip being welded to its end of leg 125 before folding of the plate. , and the screw 119 is introduced and screwed into the internal thread 118.
  • the screw 119 can be pre-adjusted according to a predetermined screwing depth.
  • the plate can then be assembled to terminal 101 preferably by soldering and the whole set up in the housing before closing the cover.
  • the welding takes place above the notch 111, between the plate 109 and a transverse upper tab 131 of the terminal 101, this tab extending laterally by a zone 132 allowing the welding of a conductive braid.
  • the housing has a terminal and element housing having the desired complementary shapes, namely the usual forms for housing the terminal 101, a slot designed to accommodate the tab 115 by preventing its movement in the three directions of space. leaving part 116 free, a stud penetrating into the cutout 121 so as to prevent the movement, along the bending axis of the elbow, of the branches 122 and, preferably, at the elbow 127, the walls preventing movement in the two other directions of space.
