Definitions
- the invention relates to a maneuvering cartridge with a maneuvering charge contained in a cartridge case.
- Such a maneuvering cartridge is known, for example, from DE-A-32 38 268, in which a training cartridge with a plastic projectile or projectile replica is described.
- This practice projectile comprises a plastic insert that protrudes far from the cartridge case and extends to the base of the cartridge with a length of different diameters and different wall thicknesses, which inside has a propellant powder space that is almost the same size as the cartridge case and that fills about two thirds with loosely poured propellant powder is.
- the present invention has for its object to provide a maneuver cartridge, in particular for automatically powered machine guns, for example in the caliber 35 mm, with high cadence, which is simple and inexpensive to produce while avoiding the disadvantages described above.
- a maneuver cartridge 10 has a substantially cylindrical cartridge case 11 made of metal, such as brass, aluminum or steel, on the rear outer periphery of which an extractor groove 12 is incorporated.
- a percussion ignition insert 14 is provided in the sleeve base 13. Because of the reduction in cross-section due to the extractor groove 12, the cartridge case 11 is reinforced in the base area, ie it is formed with increasing wall thickness.
- the length of the cartridge case 11 is adapted to the length of the battle cartridge.
- the insert 15 there is a central axial bore 16 of a predeterminable diameter, into which a maneuver cartridge charge 17 is completely filled in the bore 16.
- the bore 16 is closed on one or both sides with an aluminum foil 18 which is glued to the end face of the insert and is completely sealed.
- the insert 15 has in its upper region opposite the base of the sleeve a circumferential annular groove 19 into which a curl 20 introduced into the cartridge case 11 from the outside engages in a form-fitting manner.
- the curl 20 can be provided at any point on the cartridge case; it is preferably attached where the belt claws of a cartridge feed belt encompass the individual cartridge and thus fix them against axial displacement.
- the originally completely cylindrical sleeve 11 has a tip 21 in its mouth region, which is produced by a known folding or crimping of the sleeve mouth.
- the remaining small opening 22 after folding in the tip 21 is by means of an appropriate means such.
- the maneuvering cartridge described is simple and inexpensive to manufacture and is particularly suitable for series production. Furthermore, it is particularly suitable for use in automatic machine guns with high cadences of e.g. B. 800 shots per minute, the high feed speeds and discharge speeds when loading or unloading into the weapon and from the weapon high loading values act on the maneuvering cartridge.
- the insert 15 is preferably made of plastic injection molding and is immediately finished to the final dimension without further processing steps.
- the bore 16 is a blind hole which is closed on the side facing the mouth with a thin plastic disc.
- the maneuver powder required for the bang effect is poured into the blind hole and sealed with a glued-on aluminum foil.
- This plastic cover then bursts when the shot is fired.
- the injection molding process is extremely inexpensive and is therefore suitable for series production.
- the insert 15 can also be made of extruded plastic material; the through hole 16 (or hole, recess, cavity) is formed directly into the strand during the extrusion process (for example with a corresponding nozzle with a central axial mandrel), so that the cutting to length and the outer shaping of the annular groove 19 and the reduction in cross-section on as simple machining steps end of the sleeve bottom. This can be done on a lathe or a grinding machine. The propellant powder is then filled into the insert and this is now glued to the aluminum foil on both sides. According to this, no propellant powder can trickle out when handling the insert during assembly.
- the insert is inserted into the sleeve 11 and fixed by the curl 20, then the sleeve mouth is crimped and the tip sealed.
- the gas pressure only opens the crimp in the tip; the insert piece 15 (and possibly the weight compensation piece) remain firmly fixed in the sleeve, so that no solid particles are thrown out of the muzzle of the weapon and may endanger practicing soldiers.

Abstract
